    Kendall is a lightweight. Burnham is a flip flopper. Cooper has been bland for most of the campaign.
    Corbyn is the only one who has been consistent throughout and has my vote.

      +Amjid Khan Not sure why, but Liz Kendall just seems like she struggles when answering nearly any questions. Doesn't come over as confident at all. I don't think she's got the 'punch' that is required here.

      As a conservative I do hope that Corbyn gets elected. Because that will be that Labour will not be in power for the next decade.
      Come on Corbyn.

      Contrabanned look at his policies. It's basically looking to turn the clock back.
      bighands69 you've just pointed out the other reason I really don't want Corbyn. The Tories need a good opposition. I honestly don't think Corbyn will give them any competition.

    Corbyn is the only principled candidate here. The others can barely speak their own minds, so trussed up by focus group driven doublespeak are they. They spout platitudes, homilies and truisms where Corbyn just says what he thinks, and demonstrates by his every utterance and action that he understand the issues in ways the others do not. At times it was as if he was schooling the others in topics they should have been experts in. They don't seem to have a clue. The thought that one of those body snatchers could one day be Prime Minister is frightening. Corbyn is England's last hope. [I'm from Scotland, so we already have a few like him here.]

    • @jgtemperton
      @jgtemperton 9 лет назад +5

      DancinJim no, he said that by killing him no justice was served by never putting him on trial. This, as he points out is an idealogical issue, a tragedy piled upon further tragedy.Only dialogue and finding common ground will change this. The alternative, endless war without end.
      Question the motive for assuming this means he felt remorse for this terrible man's death. What is the political Right so afraid of that they feel the need to do this?

    • @wicksinn
      @wicksinn 9 лет назад +2

      +periurban There's a difference between their approaches to politics. AB, LK and LC are all triangulators and that is their single political philosophy and shows how vacuous they all are. Jeremy Corbyn, uses facts because he has deep roots in socialist thinking and he has holistic world view on issues which he sees in a a socialist way and that is why he can speak the truth.

      +FLORIDA right.... its a metaphoric statement of how i feel of politicians carry themselves. Just watch and you can tell that they dont mean what they say (with the exception of Corbyn), merely trying to appear well (as a candidate). Watch Corbyns gestures and body language and you can tell he is a human being that quite frankly is being attacked by this political class (why are previous Labour leaders getting involved in this 'democratic' process... and passive aggressively condemning him as a potential leader)
      You choosing to find parallels with nazi germany's hostilities towards jews is entirely up to you and is baseless with what I am referring to NOT as a race but a political class that implies to support, sympathise and relate to the working man (while sipping port in their country estates and really being conservatives).
      If people cannot use such language anymore then i guess I better stop reading Game of Thrones (and many good books out there). My advice, chillax dewd.

      And Labour very much failed to learn from history. They failed to learn that left wing leaders result in catastrophic defeats (e.g. 1983) and that more centrist leaders results in huge victories (e.g. 1997). Fortunately they now have learnt this and are back on a winning path.

    Yvette is wrong. All money is created out of nothing by banks or by government. Whether it causes inflation or not is dependent on how it is used. If it is used for productive purposes, job creation, research and services it will not cause inflation.
    Banks cause house price inflation but Yvette does not shout about that.
    She is a neoliberal fool. Deluded by Harvard neoliberal economics which the lesson is- its ok for banks and rich people to get government subsidy (93 bn a year), but the peasants must borrow from banks. Overt Monetary finance is infaltionary she says. But it is really keeping the poor poorer and the middle classes in debt.

    wow Corbyn is bang on the money on every point from Immigration policies, status, questionably presented data of 2014-15 and Foreign policies.
    From his other interviews, it gave an impression that he might not have clear where his position is when it comes to foreign policy but I can see here he is absolutely spot on. Except for how things would pan out for his plans, understandably which no one can predict considering the current political and economic tensions across Europe.
    Shame that MSM is misrepresenting him, and the other naive leadership contenders have no clue on even the current immigration policy or the history of foreign policy, they seem to get sucked into public and media sentiment and react cluelessly.
    Hope those many many Bitish people wake up and realize the truth, I don't know how they still believe the MSM and a government which colloborated with the US to violate our privacies to the extreme. It makes me wonder if they wanna stay brainwashed.

    Jeremy comes over as cool and confident of his answers which are articulate and detailed. KGM doesn't seem inclined to ask him anything (probably because he knows he can't get the better of him) on a previous interview on C4 News he was despair ate to try and smear him as a racist and willing sympathiser by association with terrorists. It was great to hear Jeremy get one over on him when he pointed out that Blair had met Hamas more times than him. And I would add that Blair has a much more dubious reputation as he has willingly associated with despots in countries like Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan - but I suppose KGM thinks that is ok? It's about time C4 terminated his contract as he is degrading the generally high quality of their reporting - he's so tabloid.

      +wiqileaks If you want to be pedantic then so be it, but to me I see most of these people as the same, ie a drain on our country. All I see is this country going down the pan. For every immigrant (or what ever bullshit terminology you would use) it takes food, shelter etc, from an indigenous person. These peoples families for generations have fought for this country to protect each others welfare and security.Taking in these people doesn't solve problems as some would think, but rather causes more trouble in this country. 18.000 - 2000 disabled and vulnerable people (take your pick) have died due to their benefit been taken from them unjustly. Then you have food banks and homelessness etc. Do us a favour and go away with your anti UK attitude. People have had enough, there's no more money and we don't care anymore. Time to look after our own. So take your immigration, refuge-ism or whatever you call it and stick it where the sun don't shine!!!

    By the end I'm leaning toward Corbyn.
    I find it funny that the other 3 would vote so they can win something, or vote for party solidarity (seems a bit cultish) But none mentioned they would vote for what is best for the context they are voting in.
    For them its about winning and appeasing. Not actually about progress.

    For someone who has a degree in Economics, why does Yvette sound so thick on the subject? I believe that she knows 'Corbynomics' isn't so terrible and that it can actually work, but chooses to slam it. Notice the language she uses when she addresses Quantitative Easing. She doesn't use the proper term, but rather use phrases to make it sound like a silly idea. Also there is absolutely no evidence that QE causes inflation when the last time it was used by Labour, inflation went up to 0.
    She seems to be so against QE even though she agrees it was the right thing to do for the banks. "It was a crises" - her excuse as to why it was okay to use it then. Are we not in a public service and housing crises at the moment? Umm yeah I think we are!

    Yvette Cooper is the kind of politician that makes me want to throw a brick at my own television screen every time she comes on. Either she is lying or she doesn't know how money enters the economy? The Private Banks print money willy nilly into the economy every time they make a loan.So for every £1 in our pockets 97p was created by someone borrowing that money in the first place, and these are the Bank of England's figures; unlike Yvette I don't have to make things up.Jeremy is absolutely right, we can print that money into the economy because we print it out of thin air every time the banks make a loan at present, day in day out without any economic considerations, the Bank of England is the issuer of that currency and can put it directly into the economy debt free, we do not have to as we do today, issue it through the private banks so that they can charge us interest. He has the support of 40 main stream economists behind his proposals.Japan is using unlimited QE and putting it directly into the economy for public expenditure, how else could their economy survive the Tsunami they went through otherwise, Iceland have presently published a government paper on printing money into the economy.The British government does not have to borrow a penny from anyone or anywhere, and that is the dirty secret is that capitalist governments keep to themselves, Henry Ford said after the 1929 crash, "that if the American people knew how the banks make their money, there would be a revolution before the morning."The British people have got to wake up and fast.

I'll vote for Corbyn win or lose, because politics is about values and principle and standing up for something, not just winning at all costs.

    I think anyone claiming benefits are unfairly judged by people. If you need housing benefits whilst working full time then you are not getting the handouts, your landlord is getting it. If you need working tax credits and wage top ups just to put food on the table whilst working full time or single parents working part time then they are not getting the handout, your employer is because they continue to pay the minimum wage or sometimes lower.
    We really need to rethink the entire way of thinking in regards to people claiming benefits.

    Guru-Murthy boils my blood. In the opening minutes he's asking each candidate to come up with an arbitrary figure for the number of migrants that Britain should be taking in. He complains that no one is answering the question adequately. Why push for someone to just pluck a number out of their head?
    It's literally just posturing. A way that he can be shown to have the candidates on the back foot. Creating the illusion that "he" is putting them under pressure. It doesn't fool anybody.
    Unfortunately the bravado doesn't work very well when I've got thumbnails to the right of the video showing Richard Ayoade, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Downey Jr. in interviews where this slimy cretin has his own backside handed to him.

  • @joehasell1911
    @joehasell1911 9 лет назад

    Senior Labour politicians (Yvette Cooper here, Jack Straw a few weeks ago on Today program) are very keen to insist on the fundamental difference between Quantitative Easing as performed by the BoE and the direct injection of money into the economy through government spending that Corbyn is suggesting. The only difference was that the former was a roundabout and ultimately less effective way of achieving the latter (let's be clear, as the BoE are, that the purpose of QE is to inject newly 'printed' money into the economy; the bailout of the banks by the Government is a completely separate issue).
    The fundamental point here is that we shouldn't leave it to private banks to determine the money supply according to whether or not they feel like lending money and for what purposes. It should be up to a democratically accountable entity, similar to the Monetary Policy Committee (only more transparent). Should it conclude that a greater quantity of money is required in the economy then the BoE will 'print' new money to be invested in public infrastructure.
    Yvette Cooper is plain wrong if she thinks increasing the money supply in a growing economy is automatically inflationary. In fact that's backwards - an expanding number of transactions (i.e. an increasing GDP) requires an expanding quantity of money in circulation if prices are not to fall. However, 1) this is predicated upon removing private banks' ability to print money, i.e. moving to a 100% reserve banking system, and 2) this is not a blank cheque - and would lead to inflation were it overused.
    Jeremy Corbyn should be applauded for raising the issue, but he needs to clarify his position to be more credible. To be fair to him, that's pretty hard to do when his interrogators seem to understand so little about the subject matter.

    Just look how they all watch as Corbyn speaks, dumbfounded by the sincerity and self-belief in all of his replies. Irrespective of whether you agree with him or not, you can't deny that he is the only one that understands how political questions should be answered. He provides an answer informed by fact and then built upon with simple, unambiguous arguments. Look at the others. Too many catchphrases, too many empty words. I hear words, I see mouths move, but all I feel is air. Yes, the others may have genuine core values that drive their own vision of Labour but you can't help wincing at how greedily they latch on to hot words and spewing regurgitated catchphrases that have survived the scrutiny of public opinion. I see a dinner table. There's a three course meal in one corner and a sugary treat in each of the other three.
