My cat had UTI crystals surgery and I used the cat nip, in small amount for smell. It help her appetite to start eating and drinking water again. It made her feel better. The vet didn't give her pain medicine after the surgery. Very strange. Any way the nip did help her with everything. She didn't eat any of it but she really enjoyed being there in it. She's almost 5 years old
I have those meowijuana types - happy grass, skull cap, and mice dreams, and they really seem to like the skull cap. Both of my cats don't really go wild, but they usually just eat it and then sit around looking happy. My younger cat, chloe, (in the profile pic) didn't respond to it until she was about a year old. I do make sure to pick out any stems I see when i pour a little out. I usually give them the treat once a week.

My cat got addicted as heck to cat nip changed his whoooole persona, still give it to my current kitties but I will never give another cat of mine access to cat nip daily again. Went from such a fun cat to only coming around to harass me for the nip then roll in it eat it and leave 😅
I recently bout a round scratcher with short little side walls. I put catnip in it, and my cat really enjoys scratching it, and laying in it. He fits nice and tightly within it. It's saving my furniture.
Best catnip I’ve found is at the dollar tree- yes, and it’s $1! Its better than any expensive cat nip I’ve found from the pet stores. I use a ton of it at the shelter where I volunteer to help the cats feel better.

The vet also gave my cats cat nip when they were kittens to calm them at the vet and it certainly worked. Careful what info you listen to always in your best interest to ask a vet before making any changes.

The original Cosmic Catnip Banana was the best... the one with the blue and green embroidered logo on it. I bought lots of those. That one. That whole company has changed, they're not the same. They used to grow and sell some of the best catnip but that's been 20 years ago at least. Anyway, for the first time that I've ever had cats, I have two that are brothers and neither one reacts to catnip. I can't believe it. 😪 Never have I ever had a cat that didn't react to nip. I'm so sad for them.

I walk my cat on a leash, and every so often she'll find a patch of grass where she'll act like she does with catnip. She'll sniff it, yawn, look around, rub her chin and cheeks, look around, sometimes seems to be eating it, and repeats all this for awhile. The first few times she did this, I thought she found a catnip patch. But it's not usually the same place, and sometimes it can be on the side of something like a utility pole. My son half jokingly says it's where an animal has peed. I have no idea, but she thinks it's good stuff.
That short, sharp burst of intense psychedelic euphoria ( I am guessing here ) must be an amazing experience for them-and it's great fun watching them get high. They sometimes look a little disorientated, but never alarmed or distressed.
P. S. I keep an old wool sock filled with catnip on a string tied off one of the dining room chairs back. The "Kids" like to have the frequent go at it when strolling by. They also like to chew the silvervine sticks...

One day after they grew I went out to the patio and to a " Cayenne Pepper Plant " . And While I was Selecting Peppers, all of a sudden I noticed this big " White Cat " off to my left side ! ? And I said; " Cat What are You Doing here " ? ! / And as I Pondered I saw a 1/2 Grown Kitten with " Red Glazed Eyes " Looking at me, While It was Sitting Behind The Fresh Catnip Plant that I had Grown ! Of Course the Plant was Pretty Well Chewed up ! And I Never Saw those Cats Again ! Needless to say they Weren't mine, / and I had Never seen them before !

I've heard in rare occasions, catnip can actually change the personality of your cat. So we might want to be careful exposing it to our cats. Especially since we don't quite know how catnip effects our cats brains.
Glad I'm not the only one thinking that..I have heard that too from people with personal experiences. I have 8 cats they seem quite happy enough without altering their minds ..most of them are already crazy enough on there own . I really don't understand the point of catnip except the encouragement thing. If I ever need to do that then maybe I'll try it but otherwise ya we are good but thanks for the informative video
Try valerian root. Get pure valerian capsules without additives, and you can break them open and sprinkle it around. I’ve found it’s effective even for cats that don’t react to catnip- like my boy.
My cat Hoosier got ahold of a bag of khat leaves I had. She chewed into the bag before I knew and was zooming around the house. Thing is she tried afterwards again and again to get into the drawer where I had put the bag. I still have the same bag and if I break it out she comes running. I do not give it to her because I love her and am not so sure it is good for them. Probably not. So evidently cats are hardwired to feel the Khat experience to. That’s weird.

Although when she comes running when I open the drawer and crinkle the bag is definitely not. She doesn’t run for other freezer bag noises. Just that one. The cats were doing odd things. So I put the sticks up. It was hard to wrangle them away though. Well you showed the same sticks same bag in the video. So now I know what it is. Never heard of it and yes yes it works and works well. I’d ay they prefer it. If that’s even possible.

My cat went nuts with Black Olive liquid. I opened a can of sliced black olives. He came running thinking it was his can. I let him sniff it, then he licked it, then intense high, chased me for more. During his final 4 years he didn't respond to it. I miss him so much. Feels like I failed him, didn't get much time with him, I got fired from work to come home finding him dead...
My cat loved nippin'. He was more of the slow, roll around and act totally stoned type. However, we would put down a plastic tarp and newspaper before putting down the nip because he would get so stoned, he'd lose control eventually and urinate himself. Interesting thing, though, speaking of becoming resistant. If we tried to give it to him more than once every 4-5 weeks, he would just look at it like, "What's that?" and walk away disinterested. So, yes, they can get a temporary resistance. Imagine if humans were like that with recreational drugs? Would solve drug addiction...

Just as an FYI apparently catnip is not safe in cats with epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
Sadly my cat isn't effected by catnip witch sucks because were trying to get her to accept the new dog.
