      Darth Vader - have you looked in the workshop? It's already there.
      - I'm ever afraid Disney or something will ban some content
      - I'm also afraid to come online with Steam coz it will kill my current play through
      Nb. Really look up Star Wars mods, xtr ship classes&doom stuff. U can ban doomsday weapons - have a SW lore Death Star with a story and perks, no destroying planets but with certain planetary assault mods it is (or can be) SUPER fun!
      Credits to Paradox/Steam for modd friendliness , modd-ers and Lucas.

      Stellaris is its own unique universe, not any other sci-fi movie or show. And Paradox has done such a good job with it.
      Stellaris should be played with no mods and be allowed to stand on its own merit, it is major league awesome as it is.
      Yes in the past year I have tried some of the mods and I regret that and am now playing it with just the DLCs enabled, it is so much better.
      P.S - I love Star Wars so much, the Death Star just doesn't fit in Stellaris.

    • @InquisitorThomas
      @InquisitorThomas 7 лет назад +2

      joe danns I don't think he means he wants the actual Death Star in game he just wants a super weapon that is capable of wiping out planets or star systems because while you can be pretty powerful end game you're never powerful enough to destroy entire worlds for war or maybe even for obtaining minerals like a planet busting super drill.

    I dunno, the science nexus seems to have been given the worst bonus. Seeing as you can only ever build one, that makes it even worse. A size 20+ planet with almost all tiles having labs should produce just as much science at a fraction of the cost. In fact building a ring world and just piling on labs would probably output even more science than a nexus ever could.

    • @WhiteWeaseI
      @WhiteWeaseI 7 лет назад +6

      Are you factoring in the research penalty in that argument? Bar your first planet, you get a +10% research penalty per planet colonized, and you get an additional +1% for each population past 10. So a 25 tile all research planet would have would add +35% to your research costs. As far as I know, a science nexus does not increase this penalty.

    • @Pizzarugi
      @Pizzarugi 7 лет назад +12

      Considering how expensive megastructures are, you'll have already grown wide or tall by the time you get to building the nexus or ring world. You will probably have already gained a -500%-750% or greater penalty, so gaining roughly -140% for a fully science-focused ring world (I estimate 125-200 physics/social/engineering minimum if spread evenly) is hardly going to make a difference.

    • @malcolmsvensson6585
      @malcolmsvensson6585 7 лет назад +3

      Agreed. I like the idea of the Science Nexus, but it seems like too much of an investment to justify the costs. I'm just doing some quick mental math here, but if a Habitat costs 5000 minerals and takes a little under the time to build a Science Nexus, I can have three up in a single average system (say, Sol) in a little less time. Even if you can only build one Habitat at a time, they'd still be done sooner than a full Science Nexus and at a third of the cost. While it would require the investment of minerals to build them and food to grow the population, not to mention the research penalty, those same three Habitats could have 12 Pops each working on science labs, for a total of 36 science of each type. Less than the lab and with a penalty, but potentially more efficient in terms of minerals and energy invested.
      Of course, we can't tell until the update is out. But I wouldn't be surprised if people wind up saying, come release date, that "the Science Nexus is strong but there are stronger Megastructures you could be using instead". 45 of each science type is *really* nice, but... it's at the cost of 1000 minerals each.

    • @ericrutledge9316
      @ericrutledge9316 7 лет назад +1

      I agree, It would only seem to be worth it if the building itsself produced around 100 or more of each. the very fact its only producing around 50.... not sure its worth it... It sounds good in theory. But i agree just filling habitats with research unless there is a limit to how many of each building can be built in habitats then this will be the method i try.

    • @alexandermorrison9077
      @alexandermorrison9077 7 лет назад +1

      If a civ has one planet. Than give them a completed nexus, how silly would their research speed be? I would think about double to triple the speed compared to most. Than just vassalize + research treaty them for a decent bonus. Or add them to your federation for some very impressive shared fleet tech.

    You can build one Science nexus per system not just one period. The only other requirement is that there can be no other mega-structures like the Dyson Sphere or the Sentry Array. Seems to work with habitats though, but I don't think those count as an actual "mega-structure" ingame.

    In most Sci Fi, a Dyson sphere is also habitable like a Ringworld but with a LOT more space. The Resource Replicator is the best building for habitats. All you need is two of those and the rest of the spaces fill up with energy producers and you can have almost as much energy and minerals as you want.

    Are you sure about the science nexus, looked like you had the option to build a second one, it wasnt greyed out when you right clicked on a new planet. And the only reason it was greyed out when you right clicked on a star was because "it cant be built around a star" Did you have a command to enable infinite amounts or something?

    What i would want as an improvement is system governors Instead of governors for each planet. Its kinda weird seeing 1 governor in my sector with lots of planets but if i colonize 2 planets in the same system on a directly owned system it takes 2 different governors. (or more)

  • @HeruKane
    @HeruKane 7 лет назад +7

    The fact that you can't colonize a Dyson Sphere means in my head its not a Dyson Sphere so there is that.
    But between Ring Worlds and Habitats I totally approve of this. Now I imagine finding a way (even if its through mods) to start with Voidborn trait and so you can build habitats right off the bat. hehe

    • @vjorp5332
      @vjorp5332 7 лет назад +6

      Let's assume a right words has 4 parts each has 25 building slots.
      So 100 building slots in 2*pi*r
      Basic math tells us that a dyson sphere... would have 4*pi*r*r
      So: (4*pi*r*r)/(2*pi*r) = 2r = 100/pi
      So a dyson sphere would have to have 10 000/3.14 = 3185 building slots + give of 400 energy.
      I think it makes it a bit overpowered, gameplaywise.

    • @Taureor
      @Taureor  7 лет назад +6

      you are forgetting other aspects like that the ringworld might not be a flat surface but for example a toroidal shape inside, it is much thicker than the sphere. Also the sphere in game is basically a huge solar panel. People can't live on that, it would require habitats, life support, artificial gravity, etc. Also the energy should go towards powering it, and thus not be added as income.

    • @LtCWest
      @LtCWest 7 лет назад +3

      The Dyson Spheres theoretical main application is to capture 100% of the a stars energy output.
      Habitable conditions on the inside were only a secondary thought.

    • @tranquility9588
      @tranquility9588 7 лет назад

      Or you could do it like Niven and build a habitable Dyson sphere powered by shadow squares, though I don't know what that would mean for the poles.
      Then you'd also have day and night, so that's something.

    • @thebaumfaeller1477
      @thebaumfaeller1477 7 лет назад +1

      to make a habitable Dyson sphere it would need to spin and even then only a small ring would have gravity and it would need to be really big because otherwise it would be by far too hot

  • @blazingshadow2669

Could you potentially have a single ringworld controlled by four different empires after some very convoluted wars?

    I would argue that ringworlds are worth it. After all, it's 4 size 25 Gaia worlds in one system, compared to the many size 12 habitats. It reduces the strain on research inflation, and makes centralizing a bit easier, and you can just have several ringworlds together. Definitely gonna build a bunch of 'em!

    The advantage of the ringworld is you get full size planets, while the habitat makes smaller ones.
    All planets and habitats increase research costs.

    just curious, can habitats push borders? As a small empire, obviously having worse border projection can damage you, wondered if this could help to defend/steal some systems.

      I wouldn't be building habitats as a small empire, they should be used when colonizable worlds are running short for you.

    I think you can't destroy a megastructure with ships, you can only order the other empire to dismantle it by wargoal, if I recall properly.

  • @HoppouChan

    It would be cool tho if you could make black hole systems habitable, if you can't build habitats there. (Through megastructures)
    Maybe with massive energy cost?
    Or something like the enclaves - free floating habitats

    Space Poland = Halo Forerunners confirmed.
    Actually I think it'd be pretty neat if there was some form of mega structure with military applications. I'm not thinking like... "I can nuke your planets from across the galaxy" levels of military application.
    It wouldn't be fun to fight against a weapon that can murder you from within heavily fortified borders. But maybe something like a huge defensive station. Like... Planet sized defensive station, some kind of spaceborne citadel or something. Bristling with weapons and possibly even shipyards. But with some obvious downside like "Is mobile, but has -50 energy and minerals in maintenance and moves incredibly slowly or something.
    Also, can each, individual section of the ringworld build a spaceport? If so that's like 4k+ defense total without even building defensive stations, not to mention a system that can pump out ships like it doesn't even matter. I can see the value there for sure. It's also a huge buff to fleet capacity. Ring worlds would, militarily at least be pretty tactical fortress and production systems.

    Can u kill planets and then build mega structures?

  • @AncestralTsu
    @AncestralTsu 7 лет назад

    Although the ring world is just a super sized habitat you forgot that habitats can't build a space station. So you can't use them to build ships and a few corvettes can probably wreck half your habitats before you have time to respond which will probably cripple your economy if you are relying on them. I would probably go with habitats early on then slowly start migrating some of them to ringworlds

    • @Taureor

      Another problem with habitats is that they cost a lot of influence

    • @Brakiros

      That's why you adapt, in my Roman Imperium before the entire galaxy was devoured by the Unbidden I had 4 habitats in my capital system all of them were defended by fortresses, they changed it so you can build more then one fortress per system their control zone was reduced to their effective range.

    Habitat: 12 tiles, ringworld: 100 tiles. You need more then 8 planets in a system to be better to build habitats instead of ringworld. I think I did not see any star system with more then 8 planets so I think that habitats are only good for systems where you can't build ringworld.
