Hello there,
For the past weeks we have been updating the HUD, basic units, heroes and overall quality of this map.
The HUD is nearly complete as it is currently lacking elements regarding the campaign and capture the flag. It is our intention to be as close to the original source as possible. The health icon, target bar, reinforcements, the fonts and many more elements have been reworked to match the look of Battlefront 3's latest concepts.
Soldier animations have now been extracted/recreated from Battlefront 3. Thanks to Ryan Hank for being part of this. Now one of the last few remaining pandemic assets has vanished, reaching a new level of accuracy.
The Republic (and CIS) units (including vehicles, heroes/villains) are still in development and shall be finished until the next release.
Lightsaber wielding heroes (and villians) will now have 3 basic attacks + 1 special attack. Saber units will be classified into fighters, duelists, assassins and juggernauts, all having different gameplay, yet more balanced than in previous releases. Single attacks will also deal full damage to non-heavy units and force push on droids has finally been fixed since 2005 (by not making them explode into pieces, resulting in 0.1% less framedrops).
IMPORTANT:
Sleepkiller's Shaderpatch is not just recommened but a mandatory addition to have not just better in-game rendering of existing shaders (Including better lighting as seen here) but also allows for the change of team-colors.
[GT]Anakin's Remaster is required to disable the original Swbf2 HUD (At least for the upcoming release), otherwise you will likely experience the infamous "double-hud-bug".
Future goals until the next release:
- Finishing ALL Clone Wars related content (for good)
- Finishing ALL Core/Common related content (scripts, hud etc., also for good)
- Finishing Coruscant, Bespin, Cato N., Dantooine and Endor (at least)
- Getting massive work done for the GCW era
The final version will also contain the finished GCW era, all Battlefront 3 maps and a full, replicated campaign (with cutscenes) and galactic conquest.
Sticking with a project of this sort for so long must be difficult, both from a technical standpoint and an emotional one. So far, the results are absolutely magnificent. Anyone who has ever wished to play the cancelled SWBF3 owes you and everyone who has worked on this mod their most sincere gratitude.

it's crazy how the people behind battlefront have never pulled off a coruscant map. we see its vastness in the movies but never really get to explore it. this is awesome

The people behind the Star Wars mod Galactic Contention for the MilSim game Squad did an excellent good job depicting Coruscant and its scale. Look up the short clip “Galactic Contention deploying over Coruscant”.

This is beautiful. It's like an actual battlefield out there rather than little solo conflicts that the modern battlefront games have.
I have a high end pc and yet I only play old modded games like this, because they give me more enjoyment than the current games out rn. Thanks for your hard work

This is the way. I have a 4090 and I don’t play anything recent. Dark souls remastered, ps2 and Xbox emulation has been on the menu lately. Hell I was playing Spartan total warrior not long ago. I love pc for allowing us to play our older games better than ever before in 4K, with a modern wireless controller! Dead rising play through was a blast. New games mostly suck.

god those animations are so accurate to the old footage, this is amazing work! The roll animation is the icing on the cake.
This gives me such strong feelings of nostalgia, security and curiosity. Back in the days there was barely anything to worry about. Good times!
It's such a shame that this title never got released. I had the promotional poster for the Battlefront III with the Droids attacking Coruscant hanging in my room for years.
It would've been released, if not for a guy from EA taking over at LucasArts and screwing over Free Radical.

I've seen some big RUclipsrs cover this mod quite a bit. I won't be surprised if that happens again.
Once we get back to regular updates on RUclips, Moddb and Discord (Later on more pages even including Russian and Spanish modding sites), there will likely be more people covering this mod with a bigger audience.
Also the demand for Battlefront 3 has never been greater than now. This time we are more than willing to deliver during this period.
I cannot even begin to express the appreciation I feel for you guys right now. This is BF3 brought to life in all its glory, not just a mod. MOST IMPRESSIVE
Wow it is amazing the difference that makes. Before this was "just" the best Battlefront 2 mod ever, but now it is truly Battlefront 3

Got borderline emotional watching this because I know what could’ve been. And I know the effort that went into this. Outstanding all around.
No one can ever claim Star Wars doesn't have the most dedicated fans, looking at projects like this. Absolutely incredible.
If only the other cancelled LucasArts games were able to get this treatment. We'll never get JK 3, KOTOR 3, 1313, or Imperial Commando, but we won't rest until the true Battlefront 3 is finished. All the lost years we didn't get with this game will finally happen thanks to fans like you.
Well done man! You get me so excited everytime you upload an update. This mod is the greatest thing to ever happen not just to this game, but to us Battlefront fans, you really are our only hope and are doing a great service to us and we appreciate you so much for your work and dedication, I love the HUD Update, especially the new score bar at the top which looks so much better, I know you still have things to finish up, but I'll say that in terms of the HUD,
If it's possible to implement I would like to see the points be displayed in the center of the screen right next to the reticle, instead of the far left side of the screen so they're more noticeable to the player, like in modern multiplayer games like Call of Duty, as well as Miniature health bars on top of all of the NPC's, If you can do that, The HUD will be 100 percent authentic to the actual game.
Sadly the target health bar is only available for fixed position. If it was ever possible to change that, we would do it.
Gaining points in this mode (spaceships in space will come next time) is fairly easy. Having a minimum of +100 points and kills is usual. Having these numbers be next to the reticule would take more space (And also reduces the cleaniness of just having this white circle at the center of the screen).
Also the background textures fit better to the left than in the center.

@@El_Fabricio I just noticed you added icons on top of all the enemies, kind of like in the R1 Clone Wars mod. I think that's the closest thing to the mini health bars on top of all the NPCs.

Very, very impressive - even if this is still running in the old Battlefront engine, I think it's made as big of a leap forward as BF2 did to BF1. So in that sense it definitely looks like a whole new game. Very happy for you guys - know work on this has been progressing over a number of years, and I've been following you guys for a while. This is no small accomplishment
This is how the next BF3 should be. I love the Coruscant and the idea of keeping the vocals from the original is awesome!

I've noticed there's some interesting mods for Battlefront 2 in recent years. Sounds like it was a long journey to get to this point so, congratulations.

I've done some modding for swbf2 but it pales in comparrison to what you're achieving here, i can imagine how much work this must be!
I actually love how this looks visually. It really nails that "Mid-generation Xbox 360/PS3" game look to a T and it really feels as if BF3 but it never got scrapped, like you just pulled this from an alternate timeline or something. Of course, that'd massively undermine the sheer amount of blood, sweat, tears, and love that was actually poured into this project. Godspeed gentlemen, and may the force be with you.
This is the first I've seen of this project, and it looks really impressive! I hadn't noticed until now just how far up the reticle is on the screen in Classic Battlefront. It seems odd now that I'm used to modern shooters that have the reticle just below the middle of the screen.

Holy shit, I just read the description. You guys are actually planning to fully create the Campaign at some point in the future? That is incredible! I thought it would have been wishful thinking a couple months ago but I’m just so excited and happy to see the mod getting an incredible update like this after so long!

this is so well made. it’s upsetting we never got the actual game, but this genuinely looks like what it could have been! absolutely outstanding work.
People making their own stuff is the future, this is exactly what we all wanted.
Honestly, the main issue I had with this mod was the lack of new animations, as it felt just like a fancy reskin of Battlefront 2. However this is a huge step in the right direction. I can’t wait to see what else you guys accomplish, I hope some of the updated core gameplay fundamentals that were gonna be implemented in BF3 make it in such as strafing, the Hero Showboating, the Formation Flying, and more.

The new shooting animations are really cool
The most impressive thing that you've done for me is the blasters firing. They give such an atmosphere like the Geonosis sandstorm fight where you can see only blaster bolts, which none of the games so far delivered on such level. To see so many people shooting and to feel this mayhem in the middle (the no mans land), that's crazy good feeling.

This is absolutely beautiful. Works like a new game but looks like the originals. This is the battlefront game that we should have had a long time ago. Are you guys going to do an Order 66 mode? Like randomly if you are a jedi the clones will turn on you or like a firefight mide? I think that would be a lit of fun. Keep up the great work!

The textures, models, animations and map itself look like it’s a completely new game. Love how it still feels like battlefront 2 but with everything battlefront 3 promised.
I will be extremely impressed if the battlefront 2 engine / mod tools ever got Physically Based Rendering added to it.
It’s already does have pbr we just don’t use it because bf3 just used specular workflow

You guys added some really clean animations! Well done, its really cool to see BF2 transform into the cancelled BF3. I`d definitely say swap out those crouched and Sprinting animations and this game will be nearly unrecognizable! Think a really important priority fix is bringing back 'pain/death' audio files to the characters - feels so odd when you or an ally dies and theres just '___'. Other than that - excellent work.

The mod is multiplayer compatible. Some HUD elements might look different though due to the nature of multiplayer in this game.
