@@yourfirstgrandad1816 It was Dave who actually did the drumming in the song, but it was Hawkins who did the drumming in the music video, and he carried it on in concerts :)
My wife and I found a set of CDs that have lullaby versions of Foo Fighters songs. Safe to say, it is what my 2 year old son has fallen asleep to every night since probably 6 months old.
Went to my first Foo Fighters concert at London Stadium in 2018. Such an incredible experience. Hawkins will be forever missed by all the fans and the rock world. If my memory is right they closed the show with My Hero. As we walked out of the stadium everyone was singing it in unison and fireworks blasted overhead. Truly spectacular!
Bob Dylan, someone kind of known for his lyrics 🙂, told Dave the line "You've got to promise not to stop when I say when" was something he wished he had written. High praise, indeed, coming from a legend.
Great song, great band. So glad I finally get to see them live this fall. Note - one of my favorite things about watching your reactions is the head-bopping 😁
I agree 100% and I don't take that lightly. When thinking about that statement I would consider Dave Grohl the Prince (the artist) of his generation. Regardless of musical preference, the utmost respect must be given to them both in the same regard as Hendrix.
And he's cool as shit! Have you seen Sound City? And he's hilarious on The Hot Ones, that show where celebrities are interviewed while eating 10 progressively hotter chicken wings across from the host, Sean, who matches him. I've heard so many guests say it was the best interview they'd ever done. Highly recommend. The channel is called First We Feast. 🤘🤩🤘💥
@@jenx4115 Saw both of those, actually. Watching his interviews are always entertaining, in large part due to, as you mentioned with him being everyones' favorite interview, you can just tell that everybody in the room is having a good time and not just working, wishing they were somewhere else. Talent + Charisma = Unfair
This is a great song! I think he did quite well after Nirvana and forming his own band. They have done awesome over the years. This song is a great vibe as you said. If driving you want to turn it up!! Great reaction!
Anyone who says the Foo Fighters are boring is a philistine. Periodt. So weary of RUclips “music critics” who dismiss repetition in a song as automatically negative. Just moronic…Also! When Dave Grohl covered Darling Nikki - everyone gave him a top 10 Best Screamer title 😂🎉
I’ve scrolled through your whole wonderful collection of reaction videos and I’d like to suggest you have a listen to some early Supertramp music, I think you’d love “School” and “Rudy” from the “Crime of the Century” album. I’m totally with you on the Al Stewart experience. I was a teenager when his music first came out. They don’t make music like they did in the 70s anymore. Kat 😉
I love how Dave didn’t even actually play guitar around this point, his entire process was just to sit down and mess around with it until he finds a chord he likes and then do the same thing over and over until he had a song.
Taylor Hawkins is the drummer in the Foo Fighters if I'm not mistaken, not Dave Grohl. He was the drummer in Nirvana. In the Foo Fighters he plays lead guitar & sings lead.
This is one of the very few perfect albums ever made. Top to bottom. Not a track to skip. The lore is that Grohl also played some of the drums on the their third album, though he and Taylor Hawkins will almost never acknowledge who played what. There are interviews where they let some details slip (i.e., Hawkins did Break Out, Grohl did Learn to Fly.).
Learn to Fly is my other favorite - that doesn't really say it. I need it so loud that I can feel it in my chest, and if I could only hear two songs for the rest of my life, these would be it! Dave is the best drummer alive. And he DOESN'T READ MUSIC. 🤘😝🤘
Nice how the Foo fighters talked to Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore about stealing a riff, yet Nirvana recorded Come As You Are and it was a total ripoff of Eighties by Killing Joke!
I used to love Killing Joke but he's a fan hater, won't play anywhere in the US and said he doesn't care for American fans, we can all go f ourselves. There's some tonal similarities, but I guess he can suck a kiwi if he doesn't like it (lives in NZ). LMFAO I'm going to listen to eighties again to see...
Just found your channel from your Avenged Sevenfold videos. My recommendation... Exist. 15 min journey of amazingly beautiful and talented playing! Also The Stage (Best song IMO)
Dave asked Louise to sing on Everlong. She was unable to fly out so they recorded her singing background vocals over 2 telephone lines. She posted her isolated vocals + drums with Dave on IG. I'll post link in comment. She is the one who originally whispered a story - you can also read that here. 👇🔥
This is the only Foos album where Grohl played all the drums on the LP. Taylor Hawkins was hired shortly after he was (previously) Alanis Morisette’s drummer on tour (and Sass Jordan’s, before that). Peace from Toronto
@michael malosky jr I know Dave's absurd like that, but it's not always a hit--and they missed with that one. I mean the video, of course, not the song (which is their piece de resistance, no matter what Tyler says).
Great Song! I love the Pretender! But this song is a whole different vibe. They do not miss. Dave's book is a good read too! Drums, guitar... It's all great!
RIP Taylor Hawkins. He didn't drum on this track, but he carried the video and made this song great for 25 years.
wait the druns arent him?
@@yourfirstgrandad1816 It was Dave who actually did the drumming in the song, but it was Hawkins who did the drumming in the music video, and he carried it on in concerts :)
This song is so special to me that I can hardly listen to it anymore. Brings back memories of days and people long gone who will never return.😭😭🙏
To those we lost 🍻
It's become one of the greatest Rock songs and for good reason.
Such a gorgeous song.
(Trivia: David Letterman's fave. He asked the Foo Fighters to play this for the last musical guest spot on his final show. 🙂)
The version they did on there is pretty epic. I recommend the clip.
the first and the last performance they did of this song are both epic
They also played it after Letterman came back from his bypass surgery.
Lore on the whispering section: Three separate tracks: a love letter, reading a technical manual and a story about a studio technician's father.
My wife and I found a set of CDs that have lullaby versions of Foo Fighters songs. Safe to say, it is what my 2 year old son has fallen asleep to every night since probably 6 months old.
That is freaking 😎 awesome!
You are a good Dad👍🏼❤️
My favorite of all of their songs. I often play it when I need to ramp up my energy for something! You cannot play it too loud. No such thing!😂
My favourite song of all time, it’s so old never thought I’d see a reaction video to it lol
My wife and I danced to the acoustic version of this at our wedding
"My Hero", next. The music video is pretty creative, too!
They’ve been using this to end concerts the past few years and it is an amazing end to an amazing show. Good night, Chicago!

"Breathe out so I can breathe you in"
90's....when life is a bit more complicated than 80's....but, less complicated than today
I love this band
Rip Taylor Hawkins
Nice reaction video. Foo Fighters, not of this world, what a band. Dave Grohl, phenomenal artist. Each song a surprise. RIP Taylor Hawking.
Great song, great band. So glad I finally get to see them live this fall. Note - one of my favorite things about watching your reactions is the head-bopping 😁
Even after so many listens, one of those tracks you just have to hit repeat on... SO good...
I can't even hear the guitar part as the guitar, just as the voice "doo doo doo doo doo doo du du du du"
This is one of those rare songs that just expresses a sense of yearning. It's in shit like "Born To Run" and Roy Orbison and some R.E.M....
Dave is the best all around musician, IMO, of his generation. And that is saying something.
I agree 100% and I don't take that lightly. When thinking about that statement I would consider Dave Grohl the Prince (the artist) of his generation. Regardless of musical preference, the utmost respect must be given to them both in the same regard as Hendrix.

dave was the drummer that lost his singer and the singer that lost his drummer
GOAT song worthy!
i met taylor hawkins a couple times because i used to go to school with his daughter, he was super nice and his son shane i used to know him

Check out Rope by Foo Fighters with the music video. Its a banger!
I love how Dave didn’t even actually play guitar around this point, his entire process was just to sit down and mess around with it until he finds a chord he likes and then do the same thing over and over until he had a song.
Dave Grohl is the man! I've loved this band for almost 30 years. So great!
Yes!! It never gets old! Neither does Dave's drum face! He is my total hero, him and Rick Allen are why I switched to drums. 🤘
Taylor Hawkins is the drummer in the Foo Fighters if I'm not mistaken, not Dave Grohl. He was the drummer in Nirvana. In the Foo Fighters he plays lead guitar & sings lead.
Dave was on drums for the first two albums
Dave played all the instruments on the foos first album.
Okay, I didn't know that. He's so damn talented...
This is one of the very few perfect albums ever made. Top to bottom. Not a track to skip.

I need you to do Taking Up Space - Mustard Service! ITS INDREDIBLEEEE, and its surf rock ;)

"Louise Post isolated singing Everlong"

My favorite band 🎵🔥
Seeing them this summer!!
en fuego..
Ultimate banger 🤟🤟🤟
Suggestion:
Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac
Dave isnt the drummer for Foo Fighters. He is the frontman, lead singer, and guitar.
He plays the drums on the first two albums
@michael malosky jr I know Dave's absurd like that, but it's not always a hit--and they missed with that one. I mean the video, of course, not the song (which is their piece de resistance, no matter what Tyler says).
W bengals shirt
Great Song! I love the Pretender! But this song is a whole different vibe. They do not miss. Dave's book is a good read too! Drums, guitar... It's all great!
Went back and listened a few more times. Man that is great! What is wrong with that song? But instrumentally - love love love it!
So I found an acoustic version of Rick Astley singing this song. Wow - I was floored. He is so good!!!
Great gutsy song ….driving music!
You guys should react to any Alesana song.
listen to Led Zeppelin..Achilles Last Stand
Love the FF the acoustic version of Everlong on their Greatest Hits album is superb when you get the chance to you might like to give it a listen 🎶 ✌💕
Saw Foo Fighters at a small club in '99. I suggest "Monkey Wrench" as the next one 👍🏼
Read Dave Grohl’s new book. It’s fire
Could you react to Mornin’ by Al Jarreau?
great choice, no video.
Intro song?
Middle dudes fake Elvis voice is a thing. W take tho.
Early Foos we’re great. Melodic and original but now they are repetitive
"Dave could do a whole album by himself." "He did." "Which one?" The one you're listening to.
Pat Smear and Nate Mendel were on The Colour and the Shape
