- To replace the flush valve seal on a Champion 4 toilet, check if the top of the float has a thumbscrew that's not part of the top section. If the top part with the chain is part of the top float, you would pull up on the float assembly and hold onto the rod to turn the top assembly counterclockwise to remove it. Pull off the bottom part of the assembly to remove the seal.

Thank you for providing clear steps. My gasket was leaking and I was able to get a free replacement from American standard. Looks like there’s a 10 year warranty now and the gasket is red as it was re-engineered according to customer service.
You're welcome.

Thanks for this video on the NEW type. I did it with your instructions, but it was a little difficult while everything was in the bowl. It was not easy to hold the bottom and twist the top with the fill tube and flush handle in place,.
Glad it was helpful.

This video saved me lots and lots of cursing!!! Thank you so much!
Dang! I wish I would have found your video a few weeks ago. I watched the video of the old style and that's what I thought I had because I didn't know there was a new style. When I go to take my valve apart I'm trying to remove the top screw portion of it which it didn't have. So I had to guess my way to figure it out that I had the newer style that you have in the video in where the secondary tiny seal that comes with the Am Standard kit isn't needed. Great video! Wish I'd found it sooner. 👍
Thanks.

Help. I must have the newer version. I turned off the water. Emptied the tank. Unhooked the chain. I can't turn the "plug" so I must need to turn the whole top piece but it won't turn. Is it possible that it doesn't? Yours spun easily but mine won't budge. I would love to save the cost of having a plumber come fix this! Anybody?
I figured it out! Unscrewing the top takes a strong first turn to pop it. Fire anybody who's unsure!!
@@JanetSmith900here it is 2 in the morning and I’m trying to get the top off. It’s so tight on there im afraid I might break something. Maybe tomorrow I will try again, it’s really frustrating 😢
Update: I tried again at 2:30am and was able to change it out. So far so good 😊
if i get the new seal, will it get rid of the air bubble from the toilet?
How much pressure do you use to unscrew the rod from green top cover? Mine does not turn to disengage and do not want to break
Hi, it can take quite a bit of force.

Where did my rod go? After i unscrewed it to take to the store to replace I immediately noticed the rod went somewhere. Is it possible it fell in the plumbing?
Hi, you should be able to grab the top of the rod with a needle nose pliers.
@@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel Thank you so much. I'll go back to it after I get back home. I'm very determined. Have other toilets to use.
Thank you for this - I have the newer style and was stuck til I saw this

Does the model of seal matter if i have a new one?
Hi, as long as the inside and outside diameter are the same, the manufacturer doesn't matter.
