Thank you so much for your video! I'm a single Mom & homeowner who tries to tackle repair jobs myself when possible. I had two issues, fill valve wouldn't stop filling after flushing, & when cutting the water off, all of the water would drain out of the back of the tank . After your video, I was able to fix both issues with replacing the diaphragm seal in the fill valve & the cannister flush valve seal. It was very easy and cost me less than $10! THANKS!!!
Hello sir, Just wanted to say thank you for the video! This is my first time dealing with one of these canister style toilets. Per your recommendation, I checked the seal and it had an obvious tear in it. I replaced that for $8 and she seems good as new now, no more running! Appreciate the video!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have very little plumbing knowledge and was nearing my wit’s end trying to fix my toilet. After watching this video, I was able to quickly and easily diagnose the issue (a faulty fill valve) and get it fixed. Much appreciated!
Thanks Roger. My canister seems to close immediately after releasing the handle and I get a low volume flush. Is there an adjustment I am missing or does the unit need to be replaced?
I just installed one of these styles toilets but the floater is getting stuck at the bottom I have to tap the floater with my finger then it will work any input or advice
I have the same Kohler canister mechanism. After a weeks worth of flushing the canister will have rotated 90 degrees clockwise and the chain will no longer be pulling straight up and will start to bind. Any ideas as to the solution? Thanks:)
I have the same exact one but the yellow circular piece attached to the hose broke off and flies out of the canister part when flushed and then keeps running. Do I have to replace the whole canister part?
The base for the canister is my Kohler came out of the toilet. That is, when turning the canister instead of the upper portion releasing, the lower portion including the thick rubber ring came out. It appears that to replace that lower part, one has to press very hard while turning so that the tangs fit under the rubber ring holding against the bottom of the tank. Is that correct?
But you didn't cover if the actual base is the problem and if you need to replace the base which covers the large hole where the water leaves. That was my problem and it turns out the three prongs which hold the base were broken and the whole base needed to be replaced. I couldn't figure out how to secure it because it was so hard to twist under the ceramic so the whole thing didn't move. Any tips there??? I finally got it but it was so hard.
Hey Roger (or anyone in the community with Water Heater experience), I would love your personal opinion. I just noticed that my Gas Water Heater has a small leak (for now). The two options I was deciding between, are to replace it with another Gas Water Heater or maybe trying a Heat pump version. Do you have a preference?? I looked but haven't seen you do a comparison yet. I'm early in the trades and do have 1 year experience in HVAC, and with time I'm sure ill be able to work on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. as-well as anyone else. About me, I have a 3bed 2 bath, its just my Fiance and myself right now w/ some visitors who stay over throughout the year. My WH now is a 40 gal 38k btu. I do live in CA, so there are rebates for the heat pumps.
My problem is that the canister will NOT "unlock". The stem will not disengage, no matter whether I try from the top or try turning from the bottom. I'm afraid if I try too hard I will completely break the piece, but can find nothing online to advise. Cannot get the canister off to replace a simple seal.
Very informative Roger. I have this Kohler toilet that needs a flapper . It has a pull mechanism through lid. I can't imagine how to get the lid off let alone adjusting the chain!
You don't describe how to adjust the fill valve. Turning it right or left, what each does. Also the color is significant. Yellow is a slow fill, red is a fast fill and I have no idea what black is. Sick of this Kohler crap.
I just got accepted for my first plumbing apprenticeship, been watching your videos non-stop. Thank you!
Great job! Congratulations!
Thanks Roger. Spent $10 and fixed it myself in about 10 minutes. Saved me a lot of hassle!
Glad it helped
If everyone knew of Roger, the whole world would wanna be a plumber
My issue was the fill valve. I saw 5 videos on how to replace it but this was the first showing how to take it apart and clean it. Thank you!
Well I'm glad the 6th video worked out for you!

Hey I have an union pipefitter interview tomorrow and I’m wondering what kind of questions do you think they will ask me ?
THe black hose in mine keeps popping out, is that normal?
My seal had cut.
Easily replaced. Thank you

I’ll have to make sure Matt watches this or else we need a plumber soon! I hear him tinkering with his bathroom toilet ! 😂
🤣 let me know!

can the bottom gasket also rotten causing leak?
If it's rotten, it could

This is interesting . You should post some pictures on my Reddit group.

Thought the title was "DIY Toilet Paper" and Roger posing with a giant blender and had a double take.
Nice wast pipe i love it
The Kohler Aquapiston is better than a flapper flappers are still good
why are there 4 holes in the canister
Great info but PLEASE turn off the music or at least turn it down so we are not distracted by it. Thank you!
👍
👏👏👏👏
I've never in 50 years seen a cannister style.
God will give you long life year job enter my heart and head
