So nice to see this. I always expect to see it every year, but it now brings me bad memories because I arrived late for the last one and missed it. : (
Thanks for sharing. Loved to see Koeri.

I read the Wikipedia article on Gion and it really helped me understand your scopes better. Great work Dave!

The lady in the green kimono with the white Obi, is the okaa-san of one of the houses. She was a famous Geisha in her time.

By the way, the cute geiko in purple is Chisako and the geiko in the red stripes is Makiko both from the Nishimura(西村) family.
I don't know when but the Hassaku(八朔) event is coming as they do every summer. Here's one of my fav vids of Hassaku of 2012. You will see the Nishimura girls from the middle to the end of the footage.

Yukako and Makiko appear as a geiko, Chisako is still an elder maiko(ofukuおふく), Mikako is a shikomi(the trainee girls you see walking with maikos) and Koeri is from the Hiroshimaya(廣島家) family and wasn't in the profession back then.

Hassaku is usually held the first or second week of August, the 7th perhaps.

The front of the blue clad maiko's (Koeri?) collar is mostly white which means she's a senior maiko. Lower ranking maiko have collars with more red in them. The more red in the collar, the lower the rank.

Dave, Koeri san is a fourth or fifth year maiko . If You look At Her kimono's collar You Can see that is almost plain White which means She should became a geiko sooner or later

Yes Kamishichiken does it also. Theirs has a lot of seating and it’s like a beer fest type of feel. This is just on the street and absolute madness now

lower ranking→apprentice or younger maybe more appropriate
geisha→geiko(they seem to dislike the term geisha)
Anyways thanx for the killer footage.
