I bought a cx-30 last may. It has a similar infotainment system. It took a little bit to get used to and once i did i prefer it to the touchscreen type systems. It’s very easy to use.

I did have a little difficulty in the beginning but after fiddling and seeing this video it seems easier now

Set up one time, learn the different menu commands and you should be all set. Part of the problem today is that people don't use their minds enough, they rely on technology which makes doing simply tasks difficult

After using the infotainment dial in my CX90, I never want to go back to a touchscreen. Safer, more accurate and simple to use.

That was my initial thought. But after using both on my CX-5 I found my head/eye movement a lot less on the touchscreen. Clearly good to have both options.

I do like that they offer the different interaction methods when in AC. The overall cabin looks very nice as well. Very clean without being too clinical.

You should've shown how to input addresses and destinations via keyboard, not voice. I hear that's the worst part of this whole setup. Also, how do you zoom in & out of Google Maps?

Pressing the favorites button next to the Commander button will display all the favorites. It does this on the CX-5.

Control knob on Mazda Infotainment is far better , simpler and more intuitive than in Cadillac or BMW I drove for almost 2 weeks as rentals .
There were studies done in Germany and Sweden and control knob is by far the safest way to operate the infotainment systems.
Mazda system is super intuitive after few months of learning curve and I would never use touchscreen with Android Auto that I use all the time .
To some this learning curve takes few weeks and to some who just don't use it or don't want to learn it will take much longer , so the point is - take time to learn it and you'll love it .
I would not buy a car without it now ! Hope it helps .
Oh and I had a Cadillac Three row SUV for 2 weeks this summer and it's control knob system just did not work well at all , so I started using touchscreen and let me tell you , finger marks on the screen when hit with direct sunlight became unreadable due to finger marks making hazy and greasy filter that did not allow me to read navigation when in direct sunlight so I had to pull over to the side of the road clean the screen so I can see where I'm going ...it is yet another proof that touch screen only systems are inferior to what Mazda does ! Not to mention when driving over bumpy or off road where pointing and touching small icon in LCD screen is just hard and very frustrating.... We use to have a Jetta with VW touchscreen and it was always not as easy as on our Mazda

It’s an easy system and underrated in my humble opinion. I am always cleaning fingerprints off my Ram touch screen. My wife has a CX 90 and had 2 other CX 5s. She loves it and is a master of it. It’s actually slick.

can you pair Android with mazda using bluetooth? My car cx90 screen goes black and froze when I try to connect my Android to my car

Apple car play is only touch on certain trims and you have to set it as touchscreen in the system.

Question. Have you ever been able to add a menu/option favourite other than the radio station, destination or contact ones? eg. a different option on the same menu layer of that paddle shift logic favourite. Also, have you been able to delete a favourite other than the radio station, destination or contact ones? eg. are you able to delete that paddle shift logic favourite?

Was thinking of a Mazda 70 this spring, not a fan of the info center but not a deal breaker. I think the “mouse” dial would be nicer than the reach and probably safer. Like anything new it will take some getting used too.

Opinions differ on this. I find there is much less head/eye movement (away from the road ahead) with the touch screen than with the Commander knob. So,for me, the touch screen seems safer. I must say that I was surprised by this and wasn’t intending to use the touch screen at all initially.

I cannot under why everyone is all bent over this.. It works fine, besides people use carplay and android auto. Reason behind a non touch screen is people are not too bright to use touch and drive at the same time..

I have a 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Premium and my infotainment does NOT turn into a touchscreen in Apple Car Play. I’ve seen multiple videos claiming that it can, but for whatever reason mine does NoT 😩

The Premium trim does not have touch screen, even with AppleCare play

Yeah, I think only the wireless versions have touch screen on the go. With wired, it's only touchscreen when parked or at speeds below 3 MPH.

how about when your driving? it stops being a touchscreen till you come to a stop.

Oh interesting. Maybe not the best in terms of giving customers what they want though I can see it being labeled as a safety aspect.

I'm fairly certain there's a setting in the menus that you have to turn on that keeps it a touchscreen at all times not matter the gear.

    • @jefft9729

@@RedsoxVenomyes. There are a few RUclips videos that show how to do this. Very easy to do for my CX-5.

Nah, it looks pretty bad. I’m sure you can get used to it. Amazes me why these companies can’t design an easy and functional UI.

all touch screens are stupid. i-drive controller is best. bmw started and mazda took it, and now since bmw goes with the flow they are getting rid of it but thanks to mazda it still exists

If you want to know about more than "how to add favorites on the radio" this is NOT the video for you.
But if you want to watch it anyways skip the first half and watch in 2x speed like I did.

I have a 2024 CX 90 and while I like the SUV, I absolutely hate this system. Its a piece of crap! Mazda should be ashamed of it's self for doing this. Android Auto works well but sometimes it drops out so that's why it's important to have a solid primary system. Terrible!!!!
