I would suggest that because we are all energy, even if your dying family or friend has already passed, it is never too late to say these things to your loved one.
I told my grandmother 2 days ago ''I love you so much, it's okay to let go'' and kissed her on the cheek. She couldn't communicate but she gave a loud grunt to acknowledge me. She passed 2 hours later. I'm devasted but I am glad she is at peace after suffering from stage 5 kidney failure for 9 months. She would have turned 93.
As a Nurse working in Northern Ireland, I have so often found it difficult to know what to say to the dying patient in my care, and after, to their family. However, being honest is paramount, even in the last hours and minutes. Just remember, our kindness to the departing or their family will be visited on US...We all have to die....😔😔😔
My twin brother is dying of liver failure as I write this. I am so torn apart and grieving over this. I appreciate what you said here. It gives me some guidance for the days that are to come. Thank you.
Jana Laufer It's hard to say anything that will take your pain away. Death is the worst part of life and it will happen to us all. I can't imagine how sad it is too loose your twin. My sincere sympathy for you and yours. Believe me when I tell you your brother will remain in your heart and soul until you meet again. Wishing you peace and strength. 💐
My mom is dying, and I'm going to see her this morning for the last time, and I have been praying on what to say, and literally, this is a God thing..I pulled up youtube, and suddenly, this popped up on my screen. This has blessed me beyond what you could ever imagine. Thank you so much for this!! May God bless you
Really this is common sense but thank you for laying it out as a package. My mother is declining from pancreatic cancer and I admit that I’m at a loss as to what to say to her. This advice benefits both in attaining closure for a cherished relationship. ❤️
Beautiful! You shared it with real compassion too! And before the time comes that you spoke about witness to that person about eternity with Jesus. In case you didn't already know the state of their soul. My sister-in-law had no use for Jesus. But about 24 hours before her death she complained to friends visiting her at the hospital that her feet were burning. They relayed that to my brother and I. Off we went to the hospital and at 3am God had him sleeping in a waiting room and me in her room with a Bible in hand. Glory to God, she truly wanted Jesus and she is now in Heaven with Him! Why would God have her husband sleeping when he knew she was dying? Because he is an atheist. He also claims she wouldn't want Jesus, he knew how she felt about all that and about Christians. Her feet stopped burning. Lost on him. She didn't ask for any more painkiller. Lost on him. She was peaceful. Lost on him. But not lost on him was the fact that he knew she wouldn't make it to Valentine's Day two days away. He got a card and a lovely red rose. She was so touched that a tear trickled from her eye. We were able to get her home as that is where she wanted to die. His last words to her as he left to take a shower were, "I love you" and he kissed her on the forehead. I turned to do something by her bed and realized there was a different sound in the room from the oxygen mask a few minutes later. Never one to make a big deal about emotional things Ruth, my sister-in-law of 43 years, quietly left the stage.
And if the words fail you, when you find yourself in this situation, with a loved one….presence will see you & them through, but only if it comes from your heart.
By design you humans forget that you are the result and living memories of the past chain of your ancestors innumerable relationships. And so will you be for the future. In honoring the passage of any one, the lives of the ancestors are also evoked, blessed & honored.
My dad is dying of bladder cancer. I don't know what to say to him. I say stupid childish things to him like,"r u making this up" cause I almost was convinced he was,he was always a liar most of his life, afterall, and I even told him this over the phone, but this time ,I could tell, for some odd reason, that he wasn't lying now,and for the first time in my whole life I felt bad,for him,and for me,because I knew I would never get the closure I was living for...
I told my mom I hated my sister and when she died I would never speak to my sister again and I would not consider her my family anymore and told her because my sister used my parents till they couldn't be used no more. She never honored or showed them respect. I meant every word I told her. I thanked her for being a great mom to me and that I loved her very much. My mom died 2 months ago today and I miss her tremendously but so grateful she was my momma. I sure wished I could hug her and say I love you so much. I have come to see my sister and her kids and one of my cousins are nothing but salvaged dogs and want nothing to do with them.
I agree with those four things. As a Roman Catholic,I would make that I am given the Last Rights of the Catholic Church. If I am correct the Priest would Absolve me from my Sins, give me Holy Communion(The Body of Christ). He would Bless me with the Sign of the Cross on my Head,Etc.
Yes Bob, bring them to the altar of the Holy One! Let them accept Christ as their Savior! This is essential if you want your loved one to have eternal peace and salvation! Jesus is right there ready to greet them and bring them to His Kingdom! Let us all Rejoice in Him in this Holy Season! God bless you Bob! Wonderful comment!🙏🏻🛐✝️🕊💜
I never got to say these things to my mum. She died recently very suddenly. The doctors said it wasn't end of life and wouldn't come to the house to see her. I didn't know she was gonna die like this. I wish I had seen this earlier. I feel so helpless and sad.
The most important thing to say to a dying person: Are you 100 persent sure that you are saved? Tell me how to be saved ! And then tell him how to be saved: Repent of your sins, confess Jesus as your saver and Lord. Tell him that what Jesus died on the cross was that he took your sins on himself
but is saying it enough. I've said this prayer many times but I have a niggling voice that tells me I'm full of shit when I do it. And cause God knows me inside out, surely hes gonna know about this niggling voice
I must be pure evil, because I have always dealt with death with more than just stoicism, respect and dignity, I also use humor, the last person I lost was a dear friend and colleague, who I would constantly torture with my jokes, but I know she loved them… The last time I saw her, the first words out of my mouth were “where is the insurance policy?” The doctors and nurses thought I was the coldest you know watch in the world, but Cecelia burst into laughter, so much she nearly pulled out her IV, as the two of us sat there laughing our heads off, the medical staff simply could not understand how I could be using humour at such a time, but humour has remarkable healing properties, I know that because I’ve been clinically dead myself after my large intestine ruptured from Crohn’s disease, and I laughed all the way through it, I still say that’s what helped me survive, of course I know when to use it and when not to, but to be honest when done properly, it can be spiritually uplifting, far more than any typical conversation in that situation. What do you think?
I did that with my brother...kept talking to him as I always did. He loved it..being treated as he was used to and wanted to hear. You are not cutting me any slack as he laughed..
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV, Ephesians 2:8-9, Jesus Christ is the only way.........
Hell yeah. Jesus is my bitch, my golden ticket to eternal life. Does not matter how awful of a person I am, Jesus has to embrace me with open arms. Bend over Jesus, going to strap a saddle on you and ride off into eternal bliss! Yee Haw!
If I were dying the thing I would long to hear from a pastor is sorry for all the physical and emotional damage the church has caused you through electronic shock therapy, and through 13 years of reparative therapy, and for rejecting you as a person. Sorry for saying you are not welcome to even attend church just for being gay, which has been a medically proven fact. I have been married to my wife and faithful to the vows I made to her for 50 years. I nursed her with MS for 23 years, the last 7 of those years were full hoist 5 times a day. God creates some people gay as I have been, medically proven, and its fine. I was an ordained Baptist Pastor and missionary. If they were not prepared to do that, I would want a civil service at my funeral.
Totally wrong perspective. Waiting to say anything until a person is "known" to be dying only cheapens the sentiment. Don't wait til they're dying. Final messages to a loved one, funerals and related services are 100% for the living left behind. Get over yourselves and think about why you were too damn busy to say any of these things until death was a knocking.
For most of us, we don't have the time to say it. If i could say all the things i want to say without them dying, I would, but it's too late now. Be respectful of those going through difficult times, you never know the full story.
HOW! MISSED SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT, IT IS ASKING HIM IF HIS BROTHER WAS READY TO MEET JESUS CHRIST! It is not helping me without Jesus Christ being in the picture of someone leaving this world! I am sorry, but you could add the 5th thing to say.

I was fortunate to say all these things to my father. He passed moments after. He had a smile on his face. 💞

I'm sorry for your loss bro.

on her death bed, she was no longer conscious and breathing slowly...i whispered to my Granny’s ear the prayer “An Act of Contrition”
Do we have a spirit inside us that comes out when we pass on
