So I saw this video two months ago and have been looking for a slamfire 12ga since. They are CRAZY expensive, if you can even find one. I've unsuccessfully scoured pawn & gun shops as well as all of the internet sources daily. Well, I just watched an old video by RyeOnHam featuring the JC Higgins Model 20 pump 12ga. Turns out IT'S a slamfire. Also turns out, I've had a PERFECT one standing in my corner for 40 years and never realized it was a slamfire! Gonna put her to the test today at Knob Creek Range for the first time.
I just last weekend shot one that broke into the henhouse and wreaked havoc on every bird. I only had a .25 Pellet rifle though, would've been much more satisfying with a shotgun, so I was rooting for this one's demise.
The only shotguns I have ever shot were while I was active duty, but I didn't know that most pump-action shotguns are not capable of slam fire. They taught us shortly after 9/11 in one of the tactical shooting classes I was sent to that the shotguns we had were capable of it, and we all had to run a course with multiple stations, one of which was to mag dump (tube dump?) the 12 gauge. I don't remember which we were using at the time but the only shotguns we ever used at that point in time were the Mossberg 590 and the Remington 870 so it would have been one of those. At the time, I assumed that was just a pump-action thing but now I understand modern pump-action shotguns have a safety disconnect that prevents this.
Oh man I have a slam-fire shotty I found at a pawn shop for $150, it's an old Stevens 520 from the 40's, and i'm in the process of turning it into a replica of a WW1 Stevens trench shotgun (yes, they were used too!)
When I was a kid, dad brought home a case of defective spray paint from work. It turned out that it was too defective to use, but it made terrific targets - especially if you added a flame behind it. I only had a .22. I think you should give it a go with some high-power lead!
@@RandomiusBronius not generally, the contents will take the path of least resistance out, which is through the hole in the can. There should be minimal shrapnel risk so long as the cans aren't filled with an oxidizer of some kind already along with fuel, as THAT could easily detonate inside the can. More likely you'll just get a giant deflagration (fireball) rather than an in air detonation as well, paint generally isn't that explosive unless you're making the actual paint out of something like black aluminum powder

Hey Scott, this was a few videos back when you did the table invasion intro. I just wanted t say, I have a 4 year old non verbal autistic son. His name is Jaxon. He absolutely loves when you destroy the tables. So he laughed so hard watching that particular video. It warms my heart hearing him laugh since he does not talk. So thank you so much for bringing me and him that joy. ❤️
The Ithaca 37 is probably my favorite shotgun ever, it ejects where you load it, it’s extremely simple to operate, and it’s just a hoot to shoot, mine is set up with the 20 inch barrel and 8 shot magazine tube 2:56 they still make and sell Ithaca 37s too, mine was made a few years ago
I've found the fastest way to run a slamfire is to hold the foregrip as steady as possible. Then use your firing grip hand to work the action after each shot. It's kind of like a pool cue motion. This technique works best with the shotgun held at the hip or slightly behind.
Oh man, that was an awesome episode! Those slam fires are sweet. Tonight's episode ended up being a family event and the kids loved it as usual. Great video Scott! Looking forward to the next one!
I started laughing like a maniac because I thought somehow he had put a bomb inside the chicken, and when the raccoon took the chicken to the woods it was going to explode

My dad owns two Winchester 1897s. One was made in 1905, the other in 1907. These were real men's shotguns. No rubber on the butt of the stock, just steel. I can't even begin to imagine how many squirrels and rabbits and dove. I've taken with those guns in my 50 years. They just don't make guns like that anymore .
@@ooferrell Bump stocks basically help push the trigger agaisnt your finger for a faster follow up, slam firing means holding the trigger down and pumping. I guess a version of that system could be made for shotguns, but nobody has.
We got a new Mascot. Welcome to KB-Racoon. A nice little fella with good taste. Also two beautiful shotguns. The Ithaca looked familiar to me, no wonder, in the Movie Aliens, Corporal Hicks used a Model 37. Really cool looking gun, especially without the feeding window we are all used to, on most shotguns. You did the absolute right thing, to smash that Furby. Hopefully, one Day we will be freed from these little pests. Greetings from Germany.

You would think that watching a grown man blasting huge jars of condiments at point-blank range with a 12 gauge shotgun would get old after a while...but no...never does.
I’ve got myself an 1897 Winchester, gonna get it fitted with a kit so it has all the trench components, but it’s expensive to get it professionally done at $800
I have the 1897 with a 30" barrel great shotgun for hunting. Would never think of cutting it down to a trench gun. I would love to find one with the 20 " barrel someday.
I recently found your channel and am loving the content. I even bought my first gun after watching a few of your videos. It’s a 20 gauge shotgun, break action I believe is what it’s called.
We had slam fire shotguns back when I was a Florida State Trooper. Very Long time ago! Old Remingtons I believe! We were issued slugs and double 00 buckshot.
Ithaca model 37, Police riot gun is my favorite. Uses to be there was only three models that did that. Ithaca was one them. Of course Winchester 1893 and 1897, Winchester Model 12 and Ithaca model 37- riot gun.
I had the fortunate opportunity to play with an ithica 37 from the 50s a few years back. It had a wooden shoulder stock, engravings of ducks flying over a field on the metal, and it was a very light shotgun. Slamfire even with birdshot was awesome, with slugs it just hurt but was unbelievably fun. Highly recommend.
Pretty sure my dad has the same model. It was his wedding present from my grandpa, his new father in law. My grandfather however was promptly infuriated when my dad immediately put a slug barrel on it for deer. "He's usin' my best bird gun to shoot cows!" Dad still has it. Taken several turkeys with it myself.
the winchester model 25 also has the ability to slam fire, as its based off the winchester model 1912, later changed to model 12 or the M12, I have a model 25 I had found at a local gun store though I have yet to fire it myself
Love the Ithaca, the loading gate/ejection port combo was a great idea, less openings for crud to get in. Anyone who's been around on the internet long enough was probably introduced to it's slam fire feature from the video of the guy demonstrating it by blowing a hole in his ceiling 😅
I actually have a Winchester model 12. It was a gift from my dad. I absolutely love it. It is the best shooting gun I own. And the slam fire is soooo fun. 😁
This was a particularly chaotic episode and I loved every second of it. I also thought the food stealing creature was a bit I thought it was the T rex or something

I like eggplant ☹
Unmixed shaving cream?
Hey Scott, this was a few videos back when you did the table invasion intro. I just wanted t say, I have a 4 year old non verbal autistic son. His name is Jaxon. He absolutely loves when you destroy the tables. So he laughed so hard watching that particular video. It warms my heart hearing him laugh since he does not talk. So thank you so much for bringing me and him that joy. ❤️
That's awesome
God bless your son ❤. Yeah seeing him destroy the tables is quite entertaining
very cool that Scott reaches all kinds of people and they become fans
This episode had me laughing from beginning to end. Pure chaos! Love it 😂
Brilliant video friend thank you and please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 😊
The Ithaca 37 is probably my favorite shotgun ever, it ejects where you load it, it’s extremely simple to operate, and it’s just a hoot to shoot, mine is set up with the 20 inch barrel and 8 shot magazine tube
2:56 they still make and sell Ithaca 37s too, mine was made a few years ago
'They still make and sell them too'
"This does put a smile on my face."
Slamfire or no, those are two beautiful shotguns! You can't beat the classics!
I've found the fastest way to run a slamfire is to hold the foregrip as steady as possible. Then use your firing grip hand to work the action after each shot. It's kind of like a pool cue motion.
This technique works best with the shotgun held at the hip or slightly behind.
3:37
You fired faster. But you peppered the entire Moon.
That raccoon bit in the beginning was adorable. Hope the little fella becomes a regular on the show!
12:00 that grin lol
how can you take guns and make such fun content, this is fucking talent right there
Oh man, that was an awesome episode! Those slam fires are sweet. Tonight's episode ended up being a family event and the kids loved it as usual. Great video Scott! Looking forward to the next one!
This man is single-handedly keeping the Furby brand in business.
Naw they died off a long time ago, he must have a guy on ebay or a.collection going on or something..
I started laughing like a maniac because I thought somehow he had put a bomb inside the chicken, and when the raccoon took the chicken to the woods it was going to explode
Scott does an impeccable raccoon impression and I love it
3:46 The Winchester managed to not fire the 2nd shot and just ejected the unfired cartridge.
Always a good day when Scott drops a video. Gives me some cool gun action and some needed laughs. Thanks man!!!
I love how comfortable you are with your style of filming and acting- It’s so perfect and I can tell it’s something you’ve grown into:) favorite guntuber keep it up!
9:00 Funnily enough, I was actually eating some 2am ice cream while watching this
0:20 lol I totally thought this was gonna be a bit with the dinosaur costume
5:26 POV: your eating something soft then have a sudden crunch
His name is Slippery Pete and he is best friends with a couple Squirrels named Lumpy and Marbles and also a skunk named Putt Putt. I sure thank you for keeping him well fed. You sure won't regret having that boy around. Great job! God bless!
/s
... did you just reference happy tree friends?
Scott's moving up in the world, being able to buy and shoot fanta instead of big red is a huge leap
Me and my family enjoy watching your videos my 10 year old grandson loves you. Please keep up the work and please be safe.
I just wanna say, thank you Scott for my lunch time entertainment. Always a pleasure
Nice to know you're giving back to the environment, Scott!
I think that the slam fire feature would work better if you had a stock to better control the recoil.
Maybe a bump stock ????
@@ooferrell Bump stocks basically help push the trigger agaisnt your finger for a faster follow up, slam firing means holding the trigger down and pumping. I guess a version of that system could be made for shotguns, but nobody has.
7:19 “there’s no power in the barn” bro just started another ecosystem 💀
We got a new Mascot. Welcome to KB-Racoon. A nice little fella with good taste.
Also two beautiful shotguns. The Ithaca looked familiar to me, no wonder, in the Movie Aliens, Corporal Hicks used a Model 37. Really cool looking gun, especially without the feeding window we are all used to, on most shotguns.
You did the absolute right thing, to smash that Furby. Hopefully, one Day we will be freed from these little pests.
Greetings from Germany.
(giant loud round of applause from all of us) Great vid as always, Scott! Saw your pinned comment about more 4Bore content coming soon! Can't wait! Always love your stuff! You're NAILING IT!!!
@KentuckyBallistics - The only guntuber that buys his tables in bulk! Love it!
Love the content as always, makes a hard day at work worth it to relax on the couch and watch Scott’s videos. From beginning to end it’s always pure wholesome entertainment
The rapid fire on the predator face was absolutely hilarious lmao
The Ithaca model 37 gives me terminator vibes. Awesome video
You would think that watching a grown man blasting huge jars of condiments at point-blank range with a 12 gauge shotgun would get old after a while...but no...never does.
My Winchester 1300 defender has slam fire but they call it speed pump.👍 very fun to shoot.
Really? I know what I'm bringing to the range this weekend.
The table pull at the end is always a plus.
I love Kentucky's introduction videos. Always so funny. We love Scott ❤️.
edit: can I get one ❤️ from Scott? 💪
Love from Portugal 🇵🇹 ❤️
8:44 I was today's old when i discovered scott is allergic to ice cream.
5:40 Oh man I didn't realize that KOOSH went into home defense manufacturing.
*Can you imagine Scott sitting behind you in a theater showing a funny movie, with the way he laughs?*
Am I the only one that honestly believes Scott’s new objective in life will be to get the raccoon into some KB merch. 😂
Prehaps coonskin caps, ah la Daniel Boone.
put a raccoon in it
6:32 that bit could easily be the part on a movie where they find one of the hiding survivors and execute in a post apocalyptic themed movie
My absolute favorite shotgun is the Winchester M1897 Trench-Gun. I do love the Ithaca M37 as well, Amazing video as always Scott.
Trench guns are going for crazy money these days
I’ve got myself an 1897 Winchester, gonna get it fitted with a kit so it has all the trench components, but it’s expensive to get it professionally done at $800
I have the 1897 with a 30" barrel great shotgun for hunting. Would never think of cutting it down to a trench gun. I would love to find one with the 20 " barrel someday.
I recently found your channel and am loving the content. I even bought my first gun after watching a few of your videos. It’s a 20 gauge shotgun, break action I believe is what it’s called.
Scott singlehandedly keeps gun cleaning solvent manufacturers in business
I dont think you know how happy it makes me when you bring out the rope at the end of every episode
Thank you for bringing so much joy to world, Scott.
We had slam fire shotguns back when I was a Florida State Trooper. Very Long time ago! Old Remingtons I believe! We were issued slugs and double 00 buckshot.
😂 Scott's got two war crime sticks.. awesome.
T"hunder sticks " ⚡
awww a trash can panda, how cute. 🥰🥰
6:21 Huston, we have lift off. 🤣🤣
edit: I think the Chip O Matic took it personal when you pooped in it. 🤦♂🤦♂
Taken several turkeys with it myself.
the winchester model 25 also has the ability to slam fire, as its based off the winchester model 1912, later changed to model 12 or the M12, I have a model 25 I had found at a local gun store though I have yet to fire it myself
lol Scott. This is one of the best vids you have done yet. Love from Australia!
Love the Ithaca, the loading gate/ejection port combo was a great idea, less openings for crud to get in. Anyone who's been around on the internet long enough was probably introduced to it's slam fire feature from the video of the guy demonstrating it by blowing a hole in his ceiling 😅
Damn I remember that one lol
Your videos are always so much fun to watch. God bless you, Scott.
