What are your best wine tips?! 🍷
I know nearly nothing about wine except you gotta aerate it 🤣🤣 love your videos though, been making great drinks since following you.
Make a cocktail instead? Just messing, love your videos!
Maybe Take a picture of the wine list at a nice restaurant and see if they are more cost effective at the store and possibly buy them there before going back to the restaurant.
Also a good way to get a collection of nice wines at home from different places.
Drink what you like, ignore the "rules".
Red wine & red meat. White wine & white meat..lol
Great intro for beginners! One thing though. Dryness doesn’t refer to the dry feeling that was left in his mouth. That is tannin. A fully dry wine means that all residual sugar (sweetness) was fermented out of the wine. The majority of both cabs and Pinots are both fermented dry.
Very interesting, thanks!
Pretty good take on it. I drink only reds because that's what I enjoy.
Yess that is correct, “dry” has a residual sugar of
Are they father and son, because the older guy talks to him exactly like a father would to a son 😂
Son: “Hey Dad, I know nothing about wine”
Also son: asks advanced complex questions about wine the entire video.
😂👍
lmaoo I do it for the people!
@@JohnnyDrinks Thank you 🙏 entertaining as always!
I think everyone does it
He's not the daddy we deserve but the daddy we need
Ummmm more long videos please! Thanks for teaching us about wine. The box looks amazing to try.
THANK YOU
You taught me some things. Thank you!
I enjoy these longer style videos just as much as the shorts! Your pops is full of knowledge and explains things very well! Had to edit 18:15 lmao i loved that moment you and your dads relationship is awesome
haha thanks a lot man!
This was the first wine introduction video that was able to keep my attention the whole way through. Thank you for walking us through what to expect when asking your waiter or sommelier for recommendations. Such underrated advice! And what a classy and helpful way to plug your sponsor too. Well done!
thanks so much for the support man!
Johnny has an exquisite art form of making drinks. I'm not even a drinker and he makes me want to but only his way and casual

Funny thing actually….I very rarely drink (when I say that, I mean it’s been 2 years) because of the simple fact it does not interest me! Last night I was at my mother in laws and they pulled out a Bundaberg Rum (Australian) salted caramel flavour. I thought I’d try it, didn’t mind it but wasn’t a big fan. Had it on the rocks and added a little sprite and thought I was Johnny 🤣 turned out it was quite nice, soothing and I very much enjoyed it!!
Hell yeah man! Appreciate the times with your dad! All I have left are memories but that's life, isn't it?
Your dad’s face after you said you’re on a nice date had me rolling 😂😂
he couldn't believe it. :/
We got a lot of love for y’all! Keep doing your thing guys 🤙🏻
As someone who didn't grow up with a dad, I love this series. Thanks Johnny, for sharing the big man.
thank you for watching man!
Really enjoyed this video. I’ve wanted to learn more about wine and which ones to try. Thanks for the tips. Much love from Texas!
You both remind me of my father and I. He has taught me these things as I grew up. Great video!
thanks man!
Absolutely love the video! You’re right about the different glasses and the aromatics. However, the “barreled” glass is most commonly used for white wine. The more fluted glass you have is most commonly used for cabs because it doesn’t bombard the nose with the aromas. It can be overstimulating and lead to a misread on the aroma. Everything else is great advice for novice wine drinkers. Keep up the great content! And thanks for the code :)
Thanks a lot man!
Love the ring double tap on the bottle. Was hoping the entire time it wouldn’t get left out.
PS, I ordered a bunch of wine because of this video. 😁
Came across your video on Facebook and had to find the full videos on RUclips thanks for the entertainment that yall give all of us 🤟🙌🙏
cheers man!
I’m not a big drinker, mostly just socially when I can meet with girl friends or for special occasions, but really love your guys’ style. Curious to know if your experience is all social-based, or if you took any sort of formal classes or etiquette courses?
Cheers! 🥂
I’m not experienced with wine but now would feel confident in ordering some for me and my friends. Thank you.
Watching a lot of you guys lately. Can't say I'm much of a wine man but I still enjoyed the video!
Cheers from the UK!
Loved this long form content! Would love similar with cigars! Thank you
great idea!
Man I love this channel!!! Not to compare my self to you both but, this is how I envision a father and son relationship and a filling life.
Amazing video! You should definitely do more in this format.
Will do man! Thx for feedback
I didn't expect to watch this all, thank you!
I have a ton of respect for Johnny and how he breaks down things. Easy to listen to and learn from. Thank you both for the content.
no problem Marcus!
I feel like people get intimidated by wine for a simple fact that, unlike how it was traditionally drank, that it's too refined for them and for a better palette than their own.
Traditionally, wine was actually a drink for lower and middle class people, not for nobility. The plainest way that you can drink wine in my opinion is how it truly should be drank, you should simply drink it without feeling the need to put your pinky out and describe subtle tasting notes.
People think they're supposed to sip wine and go, "ah! This has subtle notes of cherry and hickory smoke, with a touch of dark chocolate!"
No, that is not actually the correct way wine should be drank. In my own humble opinion, the guy sitting on a street corner drinking it straight from the bottle is closer to the real way wine should be apposed to the person swirling a 25 dollar glass around while slurping it.
Needed this one, makes you appreciate the wine more👌 thanks Dad and Bro
cheers man!
Nice! I love reds..the text just feels like I'm drinking something special! The love and time put in to it. Meticulous attention to detail. Cognac is my go to though.

You guys are the best duo.
thanks!
My favourite red when I lived back in Christchurch was the cabinet savingnon merlot... so smooth... I went through a phase where that's the only drink I would drink and go to wine bars to try out their different brands in that wine. 🍷
Good Time's....
This was a very informative video. Thank you
you're welcome!
Your dad is absolutely correct about the glasses. However, there is actually more to the glass then most think. Typically glasses are chosen by the type of grape. Something like a cab that you are drinking (heavier drier wine) would be put in the glass you used for white wine. Reason being is because of the belly (the bottom half of the glass) a smaller tighter belly holds that type of grape better then say the wider belly which would be used for a pino or loose more fruitful grape. It also lends to the nose. You don’t want to put a heavy wine in a wide glass because it can be over whelming in the nose which can affect your palette. Where as a fruity wine you want wide open to get all the different flavors. Check it out, it is a noticeable difference pairing your class with the type of grapes. If you don’t know and you are out somewhere nice ask your waiter if they are good they will know what pairs best. Cheers!
Not into TikTok or Shorts, but I looove these long videos of yours.
thank you!
I quit drinking 5 years ago but I love your vids
thanks for watching, congrats on staying sober!
I am ordering some wine now. Great Video!!! keep up the good work.

Ooohhh wine on a nice date... if I really like my date and enjoy his company and I feel like a wine I go for a red wine... coz it's one of those wines that requires patience and you have to take your time drinking and that paired with good company and conversation for me creates a amazing dating experience 🍷
Great settings guys 🍻
So cool that his dad is Stanley Tucci.
😂😂😂
love that type of video
awesome!
I drink brand blue river valley and the wine is called texoma red....my favorite!
Love ur videos guys
thanks man!
I love this!!

Nice video guys, well done. I will say though, I was drinking a beer while watching this.
If you want a truly great red wine, Bordeaux is for you. I drink mainly 3rd and 4th growths because I can't afford a first or second. Try Château Phélan Ségur, Château Malescot St. Exupery, Château Grand Puy Lacoste or Château Prieuré - Lichine. Dry, bold, plenty of grape with no sweetness.
I can’t stand sweet reds. That said, a good Cab with some good dark chocolate, can make an evening. Beyond sweet reds, there’s not a lot of reds I don’t like. As for white, I prefer dry whites these days. I don’t like Chardonnay or dry Riesling (but it’s fine for cooking), though.
definitely depends on the situation for me, but I'm normally chosing red!
@@JohnnyDrinks red with a nice roast or pasta and red sauce, yaaas!
You just haven’t had the right chardonnay! Try a Chablis or a topped-up leesy style chardonnay from Jura. So many different styles to be enjoyed.
I happen to love dry Riesling too but I can understand why people might not, or might prefer an off-dry or sweet style
@@NeutralMjolkHotel I like sweet Riesling! I’ve had Barefoot Chardonnay and Chardonnay on airplanes. Not a fan, but I’m not made of stone; Pinot Grigio was a hard sell but I love it now!
The most expensive wines are always red. At least from my experience working at fine dining restaurants. Frogs leap is my favorite wine definitely worth a try!
Depends. There are some find Champagnes that can't get upwards of $500+
Can't wait for my order to show up. 6 bottles of wine for 45 dollars is a steal!
I got both of those bottles coming🤤
love it!
You guys are awesome
thanks Kasey!
My mother tells me I drink wine like it's juice or water ( witch isn't going away any time soon)so this is very informative on how I'm supposed to drink it versus how I do.
Cant wait for the winter cocktails

an in depth bourbon/whiskey video like this would be awesome!

Shirt is so comfortable
I just recently found this channel. I and my family are really not drinkers.
I personally do not like the taste of beer or ciders. Wine always leaves me with a very bad headache the next morning (and that is only with just a half glass). Even in the summer time, I find a Wine Cooler to be very refreshing, (but I still will get the headaches). However, I do enjoy a Margherita with a Mexican dinner. A Pina Colada with, coconut shrimp. I also like a GOOD Bloody Mary. And I also like a Bacardi Rum and Coke.
BUT MY MAIN QUESTION IS: Can you recommend a good Champaign for New Years Eve ? I was at a wedding several years ago, and they served a VERY GOOD SWEET CHAMPAGNE, that I truly enjoyed, but I never got the name of that CHAMPAGNE. I would like to purchase 2 bottles for no more than $20.00 to $25.00 a bottle, for New Years Eve.
Thank-you, in advance for any suggestions. 🙂
🍾 🎉 🍾
Champagne is usually very dry. If you want a similar experience, yet sweeter, I would recommend a prosecco instead. Also, for wine, pay attention to where the wine is made. For example, California wine gives me a headache, but a Washington or Oregon wine does not. It has to do with the soil. Cheers!
Any suggestions for a good sweet champagne 🍾? for New Years Eve. Looking to spend $20.00 to $25.00 a bottle, to serve 6 people (none of us are heavy drinkers). Thank you 😊
Also, any good suggestions for a champagne cocktail, just un time for New Years Eve ?
May have to do a champagne video 👀
@@JohnnyDrinks Yes, please before the holidays if possible. Thank you 😊

A decent Spanish varejao is a really good place to start with reds
Try going to wine tastings. It’s an inexpensive way to try different wines and find what you like.

Open your bottle, let it sit in a jar or so for a few minutes or if you cant make sure to get as many bubbles as possible while pouring it, when pouring go about the max diameter of the glass not more, thats it, kisses from France
