I just picked up an Custom 24-08 SE and i am so in love with it. Not sure why people love to hate. But they are built so damn good. Definietly not like Fender -> Squier or Gibson -> Epiphone. Those just lack the quality alot of the times. Hope everyone has a great day!
I love that buying an SE does not compromise on build quality. These are every bit the equal of S2 US-made at half the price. I have played an S2 Singlecut, and I bought a 594 SE Singlecut, and IMO there's very little difference outside of the veneer vs solid maple cap, and SE on the headstock. The 594 is pure rock 'n roll, so I don't play it at church much. I feel like it doesn't do my ambient kind of "outer space" sounds all that well, but I have a SE Hollowbody II Piezo for that, and also mix in some acoustic tones.
I don’t like modern churches bc the music sounds like a U2 concert. I grew up playing improv southern gospel in a Pentecostal church. I have full leeway to play anything I want within the chords/changes and I get a solo in every song. I can play anything from SRV to Gilmore and it’ll fit perfectly. I have to find the key of the song and know the changes and then play an improv solo. I play rhythm/lead. It’s s lot of fun . Could never play in a modern worship band.
it's been 2 months that i bought SE DGT. i can say i totally forgot my other guitars and the only instrument i'm playing is SE DGT. good neck, good bridge, stable tuning, great pickup, easy to play and more and more are the reasons why this is the only guitar i'm playing with these days. i absolutely recommend this guitar to everyone. i play funk, metal, rock, blues, jazz, and this beast can support everything. it also can be down tuned without any issues if you are considering buying a guitar that can support every genres, SE DGT is the deal. it beats Fender player and player plus easily, Epiphone special and pro series easily. the only thing that i was not sure about this guitar was it's veneer and after 2 months you won't recognize it. so trust me, this one is awesome.
I just got the 594 SE and I'm totally blown away. I could have afforded the core, but I don't want to stress at a gig with a $4500 guitar. You guys are spot on about these. They are unbelievable! I have to add the DGT next and maybe even a silver sky! Nice job guys!
Not only did I find a video comparing these two beauties, but you literally compared the exact two finishes I would choose… and the single cut version 594 of course! You gave impeccable taste
No one seems to be comparing the Zach Myers to the McCarty se single cut 594. The Zach is semi hollow, has wide fat neck and the neck is satin finish. It is a heck of a winner
I bought a 5 year old Triumph Bonneville last year with not a spot on it and 1800 miles for $800 more than a core model. It has a cpu that controls the timing, ignition and speedometer. It has an entire fuel injection system. It has more switches and relays to control turn signals. An entire two cylinder internal combustion engine. Wheels tires abs braking system. And I can ride it to work. The SE is as good as any instrument used to record some of the greatest songs of our time.
@alee7275 my 594 is still a top contender, but I've since switched to my DGT SE as my #1 SE guitar. I've also purchased a couple Core models like my P24 which is my #1 for solo shows as it has a Piezo option.
@@jlepre752 thanks for the tip. I’m aware it’s all down to personal preference in the end but I must ask. So it’s the dgt for your go to se model then?
“And lead us not into temptation…” So I’m sitting here with my Bible next to me, knowing I should open it BEFORE I listen to this video. Well, what could a few minutes hurt? “Want some candy little boy?” Anyway, time to find my Father and feed my soul. But the hook is set; I’m getting the SE DGT. Truly though, I appreciate that you guys aren’t shredding or riffing while you’re demonstrating the tones, pickups, etc. When you stay on simpler chords and melodies, and let those sounds ring out and THEN switch pups, or split the coils, we can much more clearly hear the tonal differences. Love you guys, appreciate you and your sense of humor.
I sold a bunch of gear that was collecting dust to buy the goldtop DGT SE, Faded Blue double cut 594 SE, and the Zach Myers (Myers Blue) SE. Can't wait to get them and be inspired. Love the overall quality that PRS is bringing to the mid tier pricing level!
I really like that PRS are disrupting the big company status quo and forcing some others to step up their craftsmanship on the lower end of the price spectrum. Personally, they aren't for me for a couple reasons, but they're incredibly well built options for a lot of people.
Simple answer! I had enough on my Sweetwater card, and ordered a Se DGT, And a 594 single cut. Now to pay them off. Not bragging! Just giggling like a schoolgirl at her first dance, waiting for Both boxes to show up! My girlfriend is going to miss me for a few days!!
Never intending to complain Paul .I have owned several core. First one 1986 custom new. So I was waiting on my DGT SE. Something went wrong with the transaction. Had to register again would not receive till the beginning of 2024. So decided to cancel and order a vella se It arrives I opened it up neck buzz fretts everyone was corroded. Neck needed adjustment. What a disappointment. So I sent it back. Then I pulled the trigger again on se dgt. Waiting forever again .out of frustration I cancelled again. So popular product with unreasonable waiting period. Perhaps at my age I may patience level has evaporated.
I have a PRS SE 594 McCarty Singlecut and a PRS SE Standard 24-08. The 24-08 is nicer and faster to play but the 594 is very pretty and I prefer the hard tail bridge. Both have great pickups and are very versatile.
What these guitars do is put a PRS into my hands when I would otherwise not afford one. As for cost of an SE vs the core line, it seems that in all industries you get to a certain point in maufacture where to improve even slightly raises costs way more proportionately.
The core and SE DGT do not sound the same to me. They have the same tonal character - occupying the same frequency range, for sure - but the SE DGT to me sounds like it's got a wet blanket over it by comparison. I don't know if this is related to the amp settings and the way those interact with the guitar, or if certain SE DGTs are nicer than others. I've seen some videos where I genuinely can't tell the difference between the guitars, but in this one it was... obvious, for lack of a better word. And that's not to say it's a bad guitar! I think the hype for this guitar is *so* intense that it *feels* like reviewers are saying "These $1000 guitars are as good as a $3000 guitar." And I'd beg to differ. But for a $1000 guitar, these are good! The core McCarty model doesn't sound as open to me as the DGT to begin with, so my opinion on it isn't as strong. Anything that's chasing Les Paul vibes, though, is going to be a little muddier by nature, because so is a Les Paul. (That's my favourite sound in the world, so... no complaints.) But I don't hear the same difference between the core and SE McCarty models.
I been in the queue for the DGT SE for about two months now. I generally prefer single cuts - but - I just do not like the bird inlays, so a gold top/moon inlay is a no brainer. No idea how long the wait will be....especially with the WT guys cutting the line 😉
All the demo people are "cutting the line" 😊. I ordered 1 mid-February and they said it would be early May. Now they're saying August. How could they be off by 3 months? Looking to cancel my order and get something else since the hype factor is now wearing off

It's paid for already, I ordered it three days before it launched, and to see so many RUclipsrs getting them to demo before paid customers get them, isn't cool.
