I've been playing guitar and gigging regularly for over 40 years. I own a couple of Suhr guitars that cost over £3000 plus. I went and tried out a Gold Top PRS SE DGT recently in a music store and ended up buying one. It's one of the best guitars I own. Great neck, looks fabulous, sounds Fat when it needs to be and funky single coil-like too. It cost me £850. I also recently went down and compared it side by side with the US version with costs £4000. The US single coil sounds are more Strat-like and the cosmetic finish is better. But the US versions are heavier (preferred the weight and the balance of the SE) and the SE single coil sounds though not the same, have their own unique thing. I actually preferred the neck on my SE. Save yourself £3000 and Buy one - no brainer. This is a versatile quality guitar - as good or better IMHO than a Les Paul Std. Plus it has a fab tremolo system that stays in tune.
Sick guitar man! great tonal versatility. These SE guitars are seemingly unstoppable. I will say I'm partial to the sunburst color but the gold is still nice. Thanks for the video!
Really good video, really good playing. Stunning guitar. I have 4 SE PRS, and 1 S2 guitar. Love them and yes I have old vintage but PRS are consistent and pinnacle playing. Thanks for the video. SE Paul's is my go to studio guitar so far.
Hi Tom. Thanks for replying. I have PRS SE 245, SE Soapbar ll p90s, SE Paul's, SE Zach Myers semi hollow, and S2 McCarty 594 prior to the SE version release. All great. My Paul's is my go to for studio recording so far.
Great playing brother and I am blown away how great this guitar sounds and plays….I snagged a open box off am musical and is hands down as sonically full as my core prs
They’re both great guitars. SE line is really strong lately. I just like the double cutaway look and vibe so much more, but that’s personal preference!
I would love to see a huge revision to this like Billy Gibbons Gold Top with just three knobs and NO switch…. You can dial any amount of bridge or neck or turn one or the other off for all bridge or neck and have a master tone with that coil tap. The switch is out of the way and truly unnecessary…. And if the revision was in 1952 Telecaster Copper with only three knobs…. It would be killer!!! Come on Dave G…. Meet Billy G and see how that works for the rest of us…
It wouldn't work that way as with no switch the guitar would be constantly in the middle position which reduces the output of both pickups. It would not sound the same, so you need the pickup switch.
There’s some variance in the SE guitars as far as pickups. A lot of them are shared, but the signature models tend to have different pickups. Also, really depends on the guitar. A bolt on neck vs set neck with the same pickups is going to sound pretty different. Tons of great options, though!

Amazing playing Tom and thanks for taking a pass over my track! Great review man 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Dude, thank you for letting me use it!
Great, great demo! Tasteful playing as well! Waiting on my gold top too!
Thank you! Congrats on the guitar!

I’d love to see the burst in person too. I’m sure it’s equally as cool. Appreciate you watching.

Thanks, Gregory! Appreciate you watching. Which S2 do you have? The SEs are really a great value
Hi Tom I have the PRS DC S2 McCarty 594, prior to SE availability. Have a tiny RUclips channel and use S2 and many guitars there. Thank you very much
Awesome. I’m going to check it out!

I agree. It’s an absolute steal.
I didn't hesitate to get both finishes! With a slight adjustment for the action they play as well as my more expensive 594!
Two guitars for less than the price of an S2! Great call.
Just try getting one! 😂 All back ordered, even the USA models! Crazy
Wow sounds really good, great playing! Thanks!
Thank you!
I believe that the pickup split is 70-30 or close to that as opposed to 50-50. Makes a difference in the sound for sure.
Great demo. Very grateful! 🙏🎸☯️🕉️
For me after trying the DGT SE, I really prefer and love the SE 594 Single Cut McCarty
They’re both great guitars. SE line is really strong lately. I just like the double cutaway look and vibe so much more, but that’s personal preference!
@@TomButwin Absolutely, PRS SE line is the sweet spot of guitars right now
Tom sweet soloing throughout your demo.
Thanks, John!
Yw!@@TomButwin
Great Video Tom, i am between the DGT SE and McCarty SE
Depends on your playing style! Biggest differences would be the DGT trem and how the electronics are laid out. I’ve got videos on both on my channel!
@TomButwin i watched the video on Mccarty se, Thank you very much, I think I have a clear idea now, I will ho with the McCarthy SE
Awesome! Singlecut or double cut? They are great guitars.
Can’t wait for mine.
Which finish did you get?
@@TomButwin GOLD BABY!
If I could post the Jack Nicholson smiling and nodding gif here, I would. Great choice.
DGT or Revstar p90?
OOOOO tough call. DGT, if it’s against the cheaper Rev. I’d go Rev Pro over the SE DGT, tho
@ Revstar standard same price roughly as DGT recently played both and they were killer I’ve got a aerodyne tele I’m looking to sell for one of those
I ordered mine in May. I’m being told it may not show up until next year.
Wow, really? That’s wild.
What about se pauls guitar???
I’ve heard great things about the Core and SE, but I’ve never played either! Will have to check one out.
@@TomButwin please do!!

guitar
the neck is thick, uncomfortable in the hand
Another prs paid shill. Paul is such a car salesman at heart 😂😂😂
Lol they didn’t pay me. Just sent me a demo. Do me a favor, let Paul know I’d love to be paid for the next one!
