    One thing I love about SEPTA. They are all electric

    Nice Tim. And your ride is free there, yet. The head end shots sure beat side window shots, especially with Sun glare or a dirty window. And with side window shots you can't see and call out the signals for your viewers. But I still think it's nuts that SEPTA blocks off the front seats. If you told them that in places like Chicago, they'd laugh.
    The single track rural area on the outer end of the Doylestown line is a lot like what West Chester was like years ago. I loved the Doylestown line years ago with the old Reading Company MU cars. They were great in the summertime with the open windows and the whining gear and traction motor sounds. I loved that like you love horns.

      I agree And if you are wondering Hellertown Stop should be located at the Old reading Railroad table it's where the Exxon is off Interstate 78 William Penn Highway exit 67 PA-412 Hellertown Bethlehem that way it can simply get passengers from the Trans Bridge Bus that runs on I-78 William Penn Highway towards Manhattan some of them actually run Newark Airport. From Hellertown Stop next Stop Eastbound is Clinton I-78 NJ exits 15-18

      Yes, the Silverliner 4’s have been durable. I love the 5’s but admit they won’t be around nearly as long. My distaste for the 4’s are based on appearance and sound. They just don’t light any kind of fire under me at all.

    • @billrollin2814
      @billrollin2814 Год назад +1

      Because the track on the far right has a slower operating speed because it has the yard lead on the extreme far right. It also has a sharp switch point on the north end. So 30mph vs 15mph even though we make the stop. Scheduled to the second lol

    Have you ever thought of going to Denver, as their system (not the light rail) is all their MU's are a sister fleet ordered at about the same time as SEPTA's. I can't tell from the videos if they forced their crews into the same kind of little subway style cabs as SEPTA did;(which gives you that RFW). In Denver they don't seem to have any provision for low platforms.

    Enjoyed your show. Bill is a nice guy. One question SEPTA trains seem to run very slow when compared to the subway in NYC. This trains are electric so why so slow? is there a reason for that?

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  Год назад

      They do 60 in places. I had a slight zoom on the camera so it looks slower than it is. I have to zoom a little to show more of the track than the interior of car

  • @geofftech

    I thought you'd mention the phase break that occurs right before the first signal after you exit the tunnel. SEPTA trains operate at 12.5Khz on the Reading side and 12Khz on the Amtrak(PRR) side.

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  Год назад

      Oh well.

    • @prsl2472
      @prsl2472 Год назад

      Those signals near the phase break used to make some engineers nervous. The FRA would hide there with jumper cables buried in the ballast. They then would short the signal to "Stop" after the train already had a "clear".
