Today I am at SOHO Motorsports and we install the AAM High Flow Cats on my 2016 Nismo 370z!
Afterwords I take the car for a quick drive and then hit the dyno to see if the high flow catalytic Converters added any power!

You need to get your car tuned now by UPREV. My NISMO 350Z with High Flow Cats, and MotorDyne Shockwave Exhaust, and AEM Dual Intakes, did 295 RWHP which was high for the HR engine in that year 2007. Get the tune and you will easily see around 20-30 to get all the mods work together nicely.

Dumb ass. He has a newer generation Z. You can't compare 295 rwhp to his gen which I said. He needs a tune still to put him up to 330ish.
I have a 2012 nismo. I have berk HFCs with armytrix exhaust and stillen gen 3 and after my uprev tune I only made 309 whp
Something is not right especially if this one in the video made more than yours without the tune.

Be cautious with breather mods on the '15+ Nismo's without a tune. I'd installed an FI CBE in mid August and Stillen Gen 3 Intakes almost a month later on mine, and went limp mode after going WOT. I was just a week away from tuning when it happened, and thought the intakes were the cause. While tuning with Sebastian (Specialty Z), he mentioned that it's common with Nismo's as they're tuned aggressively from the factory for the stock parts. When you increase airflow, the factory tuning does not compensate well. After my tune, all was perfect!

Just goes to show you don't always need 600$ art pipes to accomplish a simple task of freeing up airflow. His numbers are good for the money spent. I've seen new Z/Gs here do 320whp after installing CAI, TB, plenum, LTH, full exhaust, and uprev/ecutek tune. That dyno could also be a bit flattering.
mizzle04 art pipes are known to free up more mid range torque though

Art pipes produce the most power, hands down. They are test pipes though. If you don't want the smell from the exhaust don't do aam, go with fast intentions resonated hfc's. This kid obviously doesn't do any of his own work on his car.

Chris because they gave them to him I’m sure. Everything else on his car is aam. In my opinion and not because I have them on my z but ART pipes FTW.
The 350z also has a carbon fiber driveshaft.

Hi . What would be the best exhaust to buy ...buck for the money . I dont want to spend $1200 . I there anything that would give a nice sound ( not too lound) without being expensive .thank you for your advice .
Look on Amazon. There's a sweet exhaust on there for only $308 that looks and sounds just like an HKS exhaust. It's from Auto Dynasty.
I would look into the Manzo exhausts. I have a Manzo V2 exhaust for my G37 sedan and I'm very pleased with it. It's not too loud, just a lower register than stock. Quality of welds are good and fitment was just about perfect. I got it for around $350. With the Manzo Y pipe, I'm just over $500. There was also a noticeable increase in HP and torque.
Go with resonator and muffler delete.

Depending on what brand you go with you will get A SES or CEL. While you don't have to get a tune right away your mpg will probably be off i averaged about 20 beforehand with my g37 7AT after test pipes it's about 17.9. The tune is just beneficial imo

I recently bought and installed the AAM resonated short tails, sounded amazing, however RASPS, major rasp at 3-4k rpm. Gaskets we’re sealed and all bolts and hangers were checked professionally. Did you have a similar experience?

AAM could have made the sensor placement angle a bit more parallel to the car's bottom. They seem to stick out quite a bit downwards.
Yeah they did. I think I scraped it on my driveway once. But I ended up putting 90 degree extender in to clear the CEL. And that got them out of the way

Yeah man this was such a sick setup!! I really like dit! Ended up selling the wheels after they were on my GTR for 2 weeks. They went to another Nismo Z!

3.7 v6 321hp only ? stock have 344hp hm ?! nice car brutal sound !
321 wheel horsepower. The stock 350hp is at the crank. They put down about 280 to the wheels, stock. So he's gained about 40 horsepower at the wheels from these bolt-ons and tuning. That's equivalent to about 45-50 horsepower gained at the crank. So his car is now making close to 400 horsepower at the crank.
You think it's too loud to daily? Cause I really like the sound but hesitant on doing high flow cats
Brett Voorhees It's louder with the HFC installed. It's still bearable, but 1800rpm the drone is a bit loud. So if I'm going 45mph, I leave it in 5th gear. Other than that, it sounds really good. Still need to fix the plastic trunk liner so it stops rattling. Cold starts are loud!

I bought the same High Flow Cats. The O2 Sensors are angled down, I've replaced my sensors twice now. Are you having the same problem? I see from the video that these are angled down also.

Hey! After 1000 mies with the HFC my CEL did come on. Seems like the 370Z is 50/50 on whether or not the CEL will come on after swapping cats. So I'd recommend tuning your car with them. AAM Competition has them on the website! These are just their High Flow Cats. And yeah it'll work fin with your cat back

Louis Menendez max hp was 321 and as long as you put back on the sensors you won’t mess anything up and should pass smog
Just make sure the parts youre upgrading comes with a CARB sticker for the intake and headers, have a 50 state legal highflow cat and a noise compliant exhaust and youll be fine with cali smog

Do these void your warranty? I would think they wouldn’t since you aren’t removing the sensors. I already have motordyne shockwave cbe and Stillen cai and I’m looking to add more gains

Will the aam short tails fit any mid pipe? I didn't think there would be a difference but I've heard it only fits the stock mid pipe

Right when I hit 1k miles after this install the CEL came on. I put in the 90 degree 02 extensions for the bottom sensors and cleared the code. Ironically ended up sellout the next week for the GTR. But I never heard anything from the Nissan dealer about it. But I'd say try the 90 degree adapters. Or just plan on tuning the car

Just the GoPro with the suction cup mount
The tune may not get much more horsepower but it will stop the cylinder-burning lean detonation which you will be getting now that you've opened everything up with intake and exhaust. Those cats will also cause your oil level to drop quickly so you need to start checking it monthly at a minimum. You can also get true WOT with the tune which is computer restricted until you tune it.
Uprev tunes give way more power. I went from stock at 255 rwhp to 295rwhp after motordyne exhaust, berk hfcs, aem cold air intakes on a 07 nismo 350z with the hr motor.

Yes it does idiot. The HR engine is very similar to the 370z motor (almost the same motor), and the gains are very comparable. A tune is needed on ANY car after getting bolt ons that knock the fuel/air out of wack, and to gain the most power from those mods a tune is needed. NEXT TIME BEFORE POSTING BS, Educate yourself. You are talking to a Z veteran who was even a President of the Z club for 10 years.
KillaBandit maybe your attitude is why you're not the president of it anymore. Name-calling Z33 guys always think they know more than they do. I have an uprev tuned time attack 370Z and he's not going to jump 10 to 20 horsepower with that stock y-pipe and some short tails just because of a tune. The nismo tune is already higher than the stock tune and he won't get much additional horsepower. I did say that he needs the tune to not destroy his engine, and to take full advantage of the mods as well as optimizing response and gaining true WOT. Your knowledge is only about 10 years behind so that's why I didn't trash you I only corrected you.
KillaBandit also, there is now another tune available which is less than $600 (uprev) that is being used on the z34 models. Ecutech allows a lot of adjustment to the engine management and at a lower price. The bolt ons are what make the majority of the gains.
Did you ever fix the height issue between the two exhaust tips? If so how?
I still have the heat shield on and think it is causing a rattle sound, do you get that?

I know you mentioned the check engine light shouldn’t come on, but since you’ve had it installed and assuming you still have them on, has your check engine light come on?
Check engine light came on after 1000 miles actually. The 370Z is a picky car with cats. So plan on tuning the car if you do any sort of HFC or test pipes. I ended up trading this in for my GTR right when that happened. So I put in 90 degree 02 extensions and cleared the codes. Traded it in at a Nissan dealer and never heard anything from them about it

Sooo, did you end up passing NC emissions testing?
Well after 1000 miles a CEL came on. I installed the 90 degree 02 extensions for the secondary sensors. But literally a few days later I traded the car for my GTR. Never heard anything from the dealer so I'd assume it worked. From what I've heard the Z is very icy on HFC. Half the time they work fine, the other half of the time a CEL pops up. So plan on tuning the car if you change the factory downpipes.

This exact setup probably won't differ in sound on a non nismo, right?
The only difference would be your lack of a dual midpipe. So they might be slightly different. Not sure if the different mid pipes have different diameters or resonators. But AAM does have a dual midpipe you could get

Test pipes don’t do much ur dyno can’t be true. Not on the 370z. You might as well have got a full long tube header setup that actually has few gains

Those are Vossen VWS3. 20x10 +25 and 20x12 +20. It as an awesome set up! Had them on my GTR for a bit too

the driveshaft is carbon fiber reinforced. not all carbon.. it has steel underneath. been that way since 2003

They all get plugged back in like normal. I would recommend getting a tune tho. My CEL came on 1000 miles later

Pretty much all the same. But If I did it again I'd go catless with resonators. CEL came on anyways, so the car would have needed a tune. And the resonators would have toned down the sound. This was a bit too loud for my taste.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed i don't have a Z i have the 07 g35x sedan. but these test pipes come with 2 open spots.. one long pipe 02 connector that U shapes back up to engine. plus another hole with a cap that can be used for gauges etc.

A high flow cat will bring maybe 7-9 horsepower. You will not feel that when driving. He is justifying in his mind that it was money well spent, so he acts like he feels the power. Maybe after a dyno pull one may see the extra HP.
Did you not watch this video? We put the Z on the dyno and gain 10 WHP. It's noticeable enough to feel on the butt dyno too. Just seems a bit more awake. A tune would of course add more.

Should have gotten headers. They're difficult to install but make a significant difference for performance. The factory headers are very restrictive

From what I've seen almost all the HFC for the Z throw a CEL. So plan on tuning your car regardless. I did put in 90 degree 02 extensions when I sold this car tho. Dealer never had an issue with it

They were 20x12 in the back and 20x10.5 up front. Great setup!
That rear is not coil overs. They are just coil springs the shocks are seperated. Coilover shocks means the coils surround the shock in the center.
What kind of labor cost did you run into? Will the car pass smog?

Use some penetrating oil. Be patient with it
