Ecore, on the other hand, has the “Lucky Streak”: 4 episodes in a row opening 2 or more legendary cards per 15/18 packs. Why did I put all this together: Taking a Class about probability/ statistic and I had to gather any form of information involving probability of a certain action happening, which I chose more than 1 legendary per pack related to win %. So that’s why. Now that I have already handled the paper, I’ll probably continue doing this and post the result for the last episode (I don’t know depends on if I have free time). Thanks, Mr. Rarran and Ecore for 19/20 on my paper. Sorry for any spelling mistakes English is not my first language and neither I really check the spelling of the cards. You look amazing have a nice day :)
Epic double agent lore: The card is most likely based on a WoW player called Doubleagent. In WoW, pandaren start the game out factionless and you choose horde or alliance at the end of the starting area. What Doubleagent has done is level up to the max level by picking herbs and mining ore (this is insanely fucking slow), thereby getting to max level while remaining factionless. And he has been doing this EVERY EXPANSION FOR TEN YEARS.
8:40 There is even more to that Story, In WoW there was a guy called Double Agent which leveled to max level without picking a faction while playing as a Pandaren which limits how much you could do but he still posts on the Reddit every expansion of them getting to max level
17:08 this turn killed me. He could've just bumed the armor vendor into the 2/4. Pinged the other 2/4. Fire saled, then bumped the 4/5 nit 4/2 into the 4/4 for the clear. Could've even given it divine shield to keep a 7/2 on board.
I absolutely love this series. I do think now the decks are getting settled it would benefit from some rule around either changing classes every week or you need at least 5 cards different from last week or something along those lines to make sure the decks stay fresh
A couple years ago I "got back" into YGO after 15 years through the OG Cimo Progression Series, marathoning it like my life depended on it. 3 Days ago I started marathoning Expansion Series and I'm finally up to date with it. I'd like to say thanks Rarran for getting me back into HS content after 5 years of not watching or playing it. This series is insanely entertaining! It also made me check Rarran's content with other CCG creators that I know and discover more that I didn't know. I'm so signed up for Rarran's channel being this hub for all the other CCG content creators, it is honestly so sick. Also now I have to check Ecore's stuff, the guy is something else. Congrats for the series and thank you for bringing back HS to my life the same way the OG Progression Seires brought. I still regularly watch YGO content despite not playing it at all, and I hope to continue watching HS stuff!
About the Shaman game, I think it was Rarran mistake, but not by playing the Lich King spell, but for not playing Gala the turn he drew it... next turn he had Parrot for more 2 8/8s.
We really should consider adding a Ban and Limit Episode to keep the series fresh. It would be nice to see very auto win cards get kicked to the curb so that other cards and archetypes can show up
Rarran, how about a best-of-seven challenge where everyone has to create a deck with a card from each Hearthstone expansion? That is, the deck must have 30 cards and each card must be from a different expansion.
Most played cards for each class/set (by amount of times any amount of copies have appeared in either player's deck) Demon Hunter: Twin Slice and Chaos Strike (4 times) Druid: Swipe (18 times) Hunter: Tracking and Unleash the Hounds (8 times) Mage: Flamestrike (11 times) Paladin: Hydrologist (17 times) Priest: Holy Nova (24 times) Rogue: Shadowstep and Elven Minstrel (14 times) Shaman: Hex (15 times) Warlock: Darkbomb (14 times) Warrior: Execute and Shield Block (13 times) Neutral: Sludge Belcher (42 times) Legendary: The Lich King (30 times) Legacy/Classic/Initiate/Arthas: Holy Nova (24 times) Curse of Naxxramas: Sludge Belcher (42 times) Goblins vs Gnomes: Lightbomb (17 times) Blackrock Mountain: Blackrock Corruptor (10 times) The Grand Tournament: Convert (22 times) League of Explorers: Keeper of Uldaman, Museum Curator, and Dark Peddler (9 times) (also the only 3 cards used from that set so far) Whispers of the Old Gods: Beckoner of Evil and C'Thun (21 times) One Night in Karazhan: Silvermoon Portal (7 times) Mean Streets of Gadgetzan: Jade Spirit (22 times) Journey to Un'goro: Fire Fly (27 times) Caverns of Time: Future Emissary (16 times) Knights of the Frozen Throne: The Lich King (30 times) Kobolds and Catacombs: Elven Minstrel (14 times) The Witchwood: Warpath (10 times) The Boomsday Project: Menacing Nimbus (7 times) Rastakhan's Rumble: Mass Hysteria (8 times) Rise of Shadows: Archivist Elysiana (12 times) Saviors of Uldum: Bone Wraith (9 times) Descent of Dragons: Big Ol' Whelp and Faceless Corruptor (20 times) Ashes of Outland: Guardian Augmerchant (7 times) Scholomance Academy: Plagued Protodrake and Lorekeeper Polkelt (9 times) Madness at the Darkmoon Faire: Minefield and Swindle (4 times) Forged in the Barrens: Mankrik and Venomous Scorpid (8 times) United in Stormwind: Peasant (4 times) Fractured in Alterac Valley: Drakefire Amulet and Shivering Sorceress (2 times)
8:50 It's the other way around. The card Double Agent is a panda "disguising" itself at part of the Alliance (with the Alliance symbol on top) when it's actually part of the Horde with the horde logo being covered up. It's also a reference to a player named Double Agent who has gotten to max level every expansion since Pandaria came out (w/ the Pandaren race) without leaving the Pandaren starting island when you chose your faction. So that character is technically not part of either faction
8:45 Rarran mentions here he likes the artwortk from the card doubleagent. The Lore about this card is even crazier. Its an Homage to a Wow player who is max lvl without beinig alliance or horde. With Pandaren you have to choose alliance or horde after you finished the starting zone, because pandaren can be alliance or horde. This Player never left the Pandaren Starting zone and grinded his way to max lvl in several expansions just by picking flowers and killing mobs in the pandaren starting zone. His Charakter name is Doubleagent :D
If I had a nickel for every time there was an expansion with many hero cards but neither of them got a hero card, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s strange that it happened twice
At least when you decide to end this series consider using all of the classes. Now you're at a point where ecore didn't change 2 of his decks at all. The collection got big enough. What do you think?
16:50 shield of valor armor vendor, then fire sale, clear the taunt with the vendor, valor keymaster clear the 4/4, coin, hero power the 2/4, leaves you with a 7/2 on the board instead of nothing :) just saying
I think y’all are officially at the point that there needs to be a rule requiring your decks to have at least 3 or more cards from the current expansion included. Doesn’t make sense to call it the expansion series indicating that the expansions will have an impact then have someone bring two completely unchanged decks. If you want to make perfect completely optimized decks that would be a different kind of challenge.
I get the impulse but this feels silly. I wouldn’t be mad at this change but this is not the first time a deck wasn’t changed, and it feels like people are overreacting to how sustainable that is
Maybe you should consider adding a rule that decks have to contain x cards from the "current" expansion, so they are not just the same decks without any "new" additions?
I feel like Rarran would appreciate if I told him that I get recommended every new episode of this series and I watch it every time.....as soon as I find some food 😂
Maybe youve done it without including it in the video, or perhaps I missed it, but it feels like you guys havent given each other a chance to craft anything in a while. IMO you guys should find a nice window to allow for a craft or 2. Maybe let you both craft a legendary of choice when you both have 1600 dust or something like that? I feel like Rarran has gotten shafted on the legendary pulls pretty hard.
Okay, let's give an overview about what the series is (from what I understand as a humble viewer): - The title is "Hearthstone Expansion Series" - what I get from this title is that I should expect cards from EACH expansion in EACH video. Otherwise, just call it, we open 10 packs each week and MINMAX to win. - The premise of the videos is for 2 people to craft decks to showcase cards from older expansions, not to "tryhard" and win each week. This is not a tournament, this is not about who is the better player. This is ENTERTAINMENT. Now the problems of this episode: - Encore has been using almost the same 2 decks at least 4-5 times now (changing 1-4 cards maximum). He also has that Runi (that paladin legendary card) which is not even part of any OLD expansions. They should have allowed him to craft whatever legendary he wants instead of using that powerhouse of a card from the beginning. - I don't get any entertainment out of watching the same 3 decks from Encore every week, because it just shows a lack of creativity and/ or not caring enough to try and make something else. - Diversity and deck building are such beautiful things that we lack in modern Hearthstone, and it is such a shame to waste the opportunity to show creative work, misery, failure and success with home-brewed decks. Solution for future seasons or whatever: - Force a rule to add 10 cards of each expansion to the new decks. (Might need to open more packs, but I think that would enhance the flavor of a video being part of one particular expansion) - Add a limit of how many times you can play an archetype with a class. E.g. You played aggro paladin 5 times, it's time to retire that deck. - Allow crafting 2 copies of a card per expansion. (This way you get to have a bit of a more consistent deck, whilst adding more flavor from that particular expansion) This is not a rant, but feedback from somebody who really appreciates this series and the work that is put into making it possible. I love what you guys are doing, and I am grateful for the opportunity to watch the series.
For the people offended in the comments with Ecore using Galakron Rogue and the Paladin deck, I would like to leave my contempt to you, the series is about minmaxing with what you get, if you don't understand And are still complain about little changes, it's at least a lack of sense, there's no point in making decks worse/using bad decks that won't win, and by far the one who brought the most meme decks was Ecore, Furthermore, there are many archetypes that simply die if you open just one or no of certain cards.
@@DinantZ which if you think about it is way worse than refining the same deck over several weeks - having two neutral cards handing out free wins even after ecore tried to tech against them imo feels way worse to lose against than a deck that took several weeks of packs to converge into something stable.
How about the idea to keep best of 7 but allow to bring an extra deck. Sometimes you bring an experimental deck and lose miserably. In that case you can bring a random deck and try it once maybe it wins
I honestly feel like if you guys do this again. It should be 20 packs each expansion Winner gets 4 packs from any previous expansion. Increase the overall difference and finally for the kicker. Games go till someone wins 6. Meaning yeah, you'll need to bring a bunch more decks but adding the extra packs should help increase variance overall
Hey rarran, i’d be curious what sort of watch time you get in the introduction and if it worsens the videos chance in the algorithm; It may only be 30 seconds or so but having most returning viewers skip so early to the beginning means that (at least for me) I don’t get re reccomended if I stop watching early
You’re right, I like the nostalgia of reliving the expansions but over the past few episodes, it felt more like wild format rather than trying new builds
didnt watch the build section yet , just pack opening but listenin to u guys say that the cards are good but not good enough i thought about the video with CGB about the first pro MTG tournament where people were forced to have a set ammount of cards from expansions, maybe add a rule to allways add atleast 5 cards from the new set to spice things up or something of that sort?
Can you add sth after the actual video that makes it spoiler free? For example caedrel adds png after the actual video so the length of the video doesnt spoiler the outcome.
I usee to ride with ecore hard given how bullied he was by thr early Lich King, but now that Rarran isn't getting streamer luck the losses are devastating. Here's to hoping for the comeback! (Also you look fantastic)
Just so you are aware, It would have been more interesting for the LOSER to have gotten more packs rather than the winner. (or perhaps some other catchup mechanic) rather than the winner gaining more advantage over time.
@@tomekk.1889Yeah, but the entire point of this series is to “make do with what you get”, Is big paladin worse than runi aggro paladin? Yes! But it’s something fresh instead of the same deck appearing in 4 VIDEOS
Blizzard buff some cards from wild … jades, belchers etc … they’re powerful so it became difficult to switch around if you don’t get a a full package from a expansion
The only problem with this series now is that Ecore has simply opened better cards than Rarran and is primarily trying to win, while Rarran is trying to make fun content and make unusual combos work like Hadronox and highlander decks with basically no payoff. This means that Ecore's decks are just so much better than Rarran's that this sort of episode was inevitable, especially given Rarran's awful RNG so far this series. I think from the look on Ecore's face at the end of the episode that he realised that he's going a bit too tryhard as well and it's not making for good content. This series has been outstanding up to exactly this episode so I'll keep watching but if Ecore keeps bringing constructed Galakrond Rogue, aggro Paladin and Control Priest every week I think it's going to simply turn a lot of people off watching the series, including me. Hope next week you can turn it around, Rarran :)
it feels like you have different approaches to this series. Ecore plays the same optimized decks, Rarran experiments with new cards even if they turn out to be less effective. Which doesn't make for very interesting gameplay
while i love the series in the last episodes it doesnt fell like the decks changed a lot prob because sets where more about synergy instead of single strong cards maybe for another series u could play the best decks per expansion without pack opening?
I feel like Ecore should start changing his decks, it’s been frustrating watching him play his meta decks on repeat with barely any changes vs. Rarrans’s content decks
Couldn't they at least have a "10 cards have to be changes" rule. For more variety. It's like watching a theory crafting stream, but people are playing the normal meta decks.
Dude, i have a huge exam that ends my high school education tommorow. Let me have a few last moments of joy before i fully give in to the anxiety with this new expansion series. Thanks rar

i mean, the lich king carried a lot of rarran early series

It was really bad
Yeah then he would've had coin to play Lich King next turn
Rarran activating the type A chatter reaction
I saw this as well and had to actively pause the video to cringe
0:50 Mercenaries jumpscare 💀
At this point we can say our boy Rarran has no chances against millionaire with decktracker.
Ecore discovering in real time why Purify is such a putrid card was pretty good to watch. Also, Rarran got low diffed this week holy shit
I always want to die of happiness when i see a new episode keep up the great work Rarran!

My man Rarran still uses Sludge to this day and you say that.
@@xsethy7728 lmao, thinking the same thing. He's been using it for so many expansions now so adding a ban rule/limit would be weird at this point.
@@Ed95366 I guess poor Rarran will just have to redo the entire expansion series and give us more content :(

I love the villain of the week format. I like it when the hero wins every week, brings some reliability into my life
Bro whenever these launch it's one of the best times of the week. Great idea and thanks!
I would genuinely watch you and ecore play any coop game such a good combo
Infinite amalgam is the first card I don't recognize in HS which is scary
You have no idea how excited this makes me!
I get so excited everytime this series drops an episode
Ecore absolutely popped off this episode hot damn
I love the format. Hopefully you just start it again after it ended!
Rarran dropped the new expansion series. Great way to start my day.
I feel like whenever they catch up they should win with every class in like a 3 episode finale to really show the better deck builder
I get why the title is the way it is but it's sad that the actual hero cards played in the video were variations of Galakrond haha
babe wake up rarran just dropped
FINALY! welcome back guys!
they should start playing with every class soon it would be cool
Okay, let's give an overview about what the series is (from what I understand as a humble viewer):
- The title is "Hearthstone Expansion Series" - what I get from this title is that I should expect cards from EACH expansion in EACH video.
Now the problems of this episode:
- Encore has been using almost the same 2 decks at least 4-5 times now (changing 1-4 cards maximum).
Solution for future seasons or whatever:
- Force a rule to add 10 cards of each expansion to the new decks. (Might need to open more packs, but I think that would enhance the flavor of a video being part of one particular expansion)
- Add a limit of how many times you can play an archetype with a class. E.g. You played aggro paladin 5 times, it's time to retire that deck.
- Allow crafting 2 copies of a card per expansion. (This way you get to have a bit of a more consistent deck, whilst adding more flavor from that particular expansion)
This is not a rant, but feedback from somebody who really appreciates this series and the work that is put into making it possible. I love what you guys are doing, and I am grateful for the opportunity to watch the series.
Watching rarran lose like this makes me think he forgot to strap into his booster seat
1 class ban per person would be nice, that sweep was like so sad
7 minutes in... maybe we need a rule that decks need to use at least a couple of new cards.
Is it worth changing the format this many episodes in? Maybe just finish up and change if they ever do a Season 2
It's not necessary, Hearthstone power creep starts here so old decks won't do as well anyway.
Ecore literally just brought the rogue deck without much change, but people are bitching in the comments @@Sinzari
Why not call it the wild series then? The idea is every week to bring the same wild decks and play against each other. Oh wait...
And people forgot how rarran coasted past the early expansions by putting sludge belcher and lich king in almost every deck
@@Q_z_That's 2 cards instead of a whole deck of 30 from Ecore
@@DinantZ which if you think about it is way worse than refining the same deck over several weeks - having two neutral cards handing out free wins even after ecore tried to tech against them imo feels way worse to lose against than a deck that took several weeks of packs to converge into something stable.
@@Q_z_ Yea I think what you said is regarded so let's move on. Should Ecore play these 2 decks till the end if they are good?
Dont worry Rarran. Handbuff paladin will soon make Saidan WAY better than it had any right to be.
How about the idea to keep best of 7 but allow to bring an extra deck. Sometimes you bring an experimental deck and lose miserably. In that case you can bring a random deck and try it once maybe it wins
34:06 DECK DIFF AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
25:55 could have played the macaw
The winner getting more cards doesn't make too much sense to me, it just makes them win more
Over 8 days I'm having withdrawals for the next one!
Please keep going even after finishing all expansions, meaby restart with more crafting?
Lich King carried you in the older expansion, but in those newer ones he fells kinda bad
I honestly feel like if you guys do this again.
It should be 20 packs each expansion
Winner gets 4 packs from any previous expansion. Increase the overall difference and finally for the kicker. Games go till someone wins 6. Meaning yeah, you'll need to bring a bunch more decks but adding the extra packs should help increase variance overall
Rarren you're a content king and very handsome.
I always cheer for ecore cause I cringe in the next episode when I hear "with Rarran coming out of top" 😭
Hey rarran, i’d be curious what sort of watch time you get in the introduction and if it worsens the videos chance in the algorithm; It may only be 30 seconds or so but having most returning viewers skip so early to the beginning means that (at least for me) I don’t get re reccomended if I stop watching early
It’s doesn’t effect it too much, I think it’s more important for people who have never seen this series to not be confused
Current score
Rarran:- 11
Ecore:- 10
I feel like y’all should open more packs: like 20-25 instead of 15 so we could see more change in the decks. Otherwise good job, always fun to watch!
Look at that, Mage getting real stuff in an expansion, i havent seen that since festival of legends!
Tar creeper be like: 32:20
You’re right, I like the nostalgia of reliving the expansions but over the past few episodes, it felt more like wild format rather than trying new builds
BC doesn't have enough cards for new builds, it simply doesn't make sense to exchange good cards for bad cards just to diversify.
@@xsethy7728 its more fun. I couldnt care less abt efficiency
Ecore is proof that success doesn't often require talent or intelligence
Maybe make it so each deck needs 5 cards from the new set ? I like that rule
didnt watch the build section yet , just pack opening but listenin to u guys say that the cards are good but not good enough i thought about the video with CGB about the first pro MTG tournament where people were forced to have a set ammount of cards from expansions, maybe add a rule to allways add atleast 5 cards from the new set to spice things up or something of that sort?
WOOO LETS GO
ecore needs more caffeine.
Can you add sth after the actual video that makes it spoiler free? For example caedrel adds png after the actual video so the length of the video doesnt spoiler the outcome.
17:13 excuse me ? Are you okay ? 1/1 into 2/4 fire sale 4/2 into 4/4 then ping. Wasted like three cards. xD
But that would make you just want to lose every match. The reward for winning has to be better than losing
Ecore trying to not include elysiana challenge (lvl impossible)
Honestly, between DH and DK being added to the game and the miniset, I think you need to open 5-10 more packs.
feel like its alot less entertaining seeing the same decks with no changes back to back
It's very dependent on what cards they get. If they are unlucky and get mostly shitty cards the videos will be boring unless they force these cards in
@@tomekk.1889Yeah, but the entire point of this series is to “make do with what you get”, Is big paladin worse than runi aggro paladin? Yes! But it’s something fresh instead of the same deck appearing in 4 VIDEOS
This is why they should have done more packs every expansion
Blizzard buff some cards from wild … jades, belchers etc … they’re powerful so it became difficult to switch around if you don’t get a a full package from a expansion
Too expensive @@tmdiz4579
@Rarran could i suggest going up to best of 5 as it will open up more deckslots and make it easier to have a better mix o good and fun decks?
We're so back
The only problem with this series now is that Ecore has simply opened better cards than Rarran and is primarily trying to win, while Rarran is trying to make fun content and make unusual combos work like Hadronox and highlander decks with basically no payoff.
Whats that card back mount???? I NEED IT 🗣🗣🗣
WELL Someone didn't play purify priest
Rarran could have won the first game
it feels like you have different approaches to this series. Ecore plays the same optimized decks, Rarran experiments with new cards even if they turn out to be less effective. Which doesn't make for very interesting gameplay
I feel like No one was saying this when ecor was the one bringing new stuff everytime and losing but whatever people enjoy.
@@ryzen8039 I mean I didn't watch this super consistently but I remember the days of Sludge belcher dominating, and yeah it wasn't really fun either
@@urahi830 we love a consistent king
wait I thought you get DrekThar for free??
while i love the series in the last episodes it doesnt fell like the decks changed a lot prob because sets where more about synergy instead of single strong cards maybe for another series u could play the best decks per expansion without pack opening?
I feel like Ecore should start changing his decks, it’s been frustrating watching him play his meta decks on repeat with barely any changes vs. Rarrans’s content decks
Or at least ban Runi, that stupid landmark just wins him the game on the spot
Couldn't they at least have a "10 cards have to be changes" rule. For more variety. It's like watching a theory crafting stream, but people are playing the normal meta decks.
Yea i started to not enjoy this series because of the same paladin and priest deck lmao
I’m just watching these for the pack openings at this point anyway 🤷♀️
I would find it frustrating to have to use a meme deck because there are people who were offended that I won some episodes
Because you pre-record these videos a few weeks in advance, I guess all of the comments here become akin to shouting into the void.
POGGERS
Yyyaaaaaayyyyyy!
I think it would be fun for u guys to spin the wheel to get a random legendary. Just to add variance.
is it just me, or is rarran just bringing decks for content and not aiming to win?
It's really misleading to title a video STRONGEST HERO CARDS EVER when neither of you got any hero cards
Dude, i have a huge exam that ends my high school education tommorow. Let me have a few last moments of joy before i fully give in to the anxiety with this new expansion series. Thanks rar
Hey same here
Good luck to us
