Just found this after doing the 3 tutorials. It was still very useful. I would never have tackled Fusion if it weren’t for these videos. I’ll bet there are literally thousands of people out there who are quietly using your videos to learn Fusion but never leave comments. Your vids are hands down the best out there. THANK YOU!

    Hi Lars,
Thank you for posing this. I am 69 years old, and I am trying to learn fusion 360. Your series for absolute beginners is great to get you going. This however helped me a lot to move around in the model area. Keep up the great work and keep them coming.

At time of this writing, these educational video series are 1.5 yrs old or more, but they are still highly appreciated and worth every second of viewing.
I ended up here after I followed the Box+Lid demo and was very annoyed about my lack of skills navigating around in the Fusion environment.
Finally I'm beginning to feel at home in Fusion 3D :-)
    Thanks Lars !

You're forgiven if you keep your excellent videos coming!! These are far more demonstrative to me than the tutorials through the Autodesk site because I can watch the video while I'm on Fusion 360. Also, I appreciate your demeanor and clear, concise directions (which, take it from a high school teacher) is tricky in a "live" environment. You do great work!!!

Just found these live streams by Lars and they are great. I am an experienced CAD user and have some experience with Inventor and now Fusion and even though some of the items he addressed were well known to me I still gained a lot of additional information from the video. After watching the first in this series I thought i had missed the instruction on how to "get about" the drawing. I set my drawing aside and stumbled upon this video. i had figured out some of the ways to get about but this made me feel better that I was not just missing the obvious. If there is a way to put a comment in that first video to refer to this one it might save some frustration.

Of course Lars uses software that is several years old and sometimes the menus and displays do not match with my screen.

If you are working with a trackpad on Mac:
    - Zoom : two finger pinch open and close
    - Pan: Two finger slide around
    - Rotate: Shift + two finger slide

    •  2 года назад

      Great!!!! Thanks!
And also on a mac, when I hover on the "home" icon in the corner, I can't rotate without holding shift as Lars said in the video. Any idea why?

Hi Lars, thank you for cleening up loose ends. I'm new to Fusion 360 and as it is, it's not so easy for a beginner. Up to now I was drawing things up with a very old Programm, also from Autodesk, called Autosketch 9.
I find your Videos excellend, understandable and very competent. I'm sure I watch all of them one by one, and some more then once. Sorry about my english, my language is German, and Fusion 360 is in german and this brings smetimes a bit of confusion. Never mind, I get along fine.
Comming from Switzerland and living in Italy (Tuscany), retired with a Workspace on the back of the house, including lathe, milling and so on. At the moment I'm constructing a little 8-station revolving toolchanger for my 7 x 14 lathe. And this brings me to a problem I could not solve. The internal shaft of this setup is to have 8 holes equally spaced on the circumference, longsides. I meen square to the centre about 8 mm deep. No idea how to do this.
My background: I used to work with DMG-Mori as a service technican, allmost 30 years. I know the whole story about CNC machining, right from the beginning.
I hope this was not to boring, but understandable and with a minimum of spelling errors.
    Have a great Day, Luzius

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  7 лет назад

Hi Luzius Clement Thank you for watching! ANd for taking the time to write!
Your English is very good. 2 Different suggestions/Methods...
1, You could approach it the same way you would machine it on your DMG-Mori. So model a big block of steel and start carve/ cut material away until your toolchanger appears.
      2. Sketch up the toolchanger on a notepad with pencil and pen in a topdown view. Then, sketch all those same lines in a Fusion 360 sketch and start extruding the different parts from that.
      Hope this is helpful.
      Best,
      Lars

Thank you Lars! I am new to Fusion and your videos have been very helpful. They are clear, easy to follow and well paced. I am based in Buffalo too so if I ever have the pleasure of meeting you the beers are totally on me.

Thank you! I learned couple of new tricks, but the more importantly, you happened to resolve my major problem. I was sooo frustrated after changing from MAC to Windows 10, where this pan and rotate felt impossible and awfully cumbersome, even when using a mouse. But at the end, it was just my own confusion about my wireless mouse and its interpretation of middle button. I had forgotten that it has extra small button which I had learned to function as a menu, but on Windows it seems to be the middle button. How nice. I expected the pressing the wheel (which is a bit cumbersome) to be the middle button, but I was mistaken. After this little confusion was resolved, everything now functions just as smoothly as I had learned using a MAC (with the exception that now I have to learn a new grip of my mouse to access the middle button, which is not as ergonomic as I would hope for...).

Your intro to this video really made me laugh. I did your intro tutorial videos and really enjoyed them and learned a lot but watching you pan and rotate was driving me nuts! :-) I did catch on that I could left-click on the view cube and rotate the model in that way but I couldn't work out how you were doing it. I did a bunch of google searches and I couldn't find one that give me that info. I was obviously not using the right words in the search. I think I was doing something like "Fusion360 how to rotate object" so all the videos were about how to pivot an object on a specific axis. Eventually I landed on this video which had the information I was looking for. Thank you!
I came to this from a bit of a tangent - I am a programmer and was simply trying to learn some 3D modelling to print something for an IoT demo we're doing. What I found is that I really enjoy this and will be learning more. So if I ever get to Buffalo, New York I will be claiming a beer. :-)

I watched your beginner series and knew I had missed something. I had worked most of this out on my own but this video was still very helpful. I absolutely love your videos, many of them are way over my head but that is alright, maybe one day I will be able to use them. Keep doing what you are doing! Great presentation and great information in a format even I can understand.

You are forgiven! In case anyone was wondering how Lars has his Y top and green you set this in preferences > default modeling orientation > Y up.

    Nice one Larsy
I know this is 6yrs old but...
After using Fusion for a few years I thought to watch this for any tips I've forgotten about.
And I had indeed totally forgot and not recently used some features in that bottom centre tool window, like zoom window and pan.
So thank you for sharing this and being thorough.
But, have you seen the new Viewports tool? Just saw that there also 😶😃

I learned AutoCAD 15 years ago. The way pan zoom rotate works and origin and plans in fission is frustrating to say the least. Think I will build me a cad mouse. Thanks for the videos.
