I don't know why they didn't have a better idea of what qualifies each pack before going into TS4. Meaning, they should have made a plan for every stuff pack to have: 10 large buy mode items, 10 small buy mode items, 5 build mode items, and 5-7 CAS items or 1 game play item. To me, that would make stuff packs worth it and they would be consistent.
I mean… then you’d be locked into those specific combos, and they’d never do a good kitchen one. Counters are at least 5 items on their own, the matching island another 5 or 6, and then you still need another 5 for the matching cabinets…
@@bookcat123 that just sounds like ea propaganda. I've seen many CC creators make huge kitchen sets and not use counters as an excuse. And I'd rather be locked into knowing what I am paying for rather than getting something like luxury party that has the amount of items a kit has.
@@charlene9489 I’m saying that’s the way they count things. So I 100% don’t want them locking themselves in with a definition of “10 large buy mode items” because then they will give us either no kitchen sets or a partial kitchen set and it would make the stuff packs even less worth it.
This could easily had come with dineout… I really like the appliances and relevant clutter from this pack and shoutout to the stove that has the European style controls but still the horrible lip at the back.
It’s insane now that I’m seeing you lay out how limited the buy mode is. Like I would have expected more counter and appliance options for this pack. I bought the pack when it came out and I’m not sure how often I even use anything from it. I’ve got every expansion, game pack and stuff pack. Also have most of the kits and I think it’s just desperation for content that makes me buy them. I should really get into CC lol
If you wanna discover CCs, Satch has videos on stuff packs from CC creators and they’re maxis match. I believe there was also one with a modern-looking kitchen just like the official pack but it wast free and I really like it. I got pretty much every maxis match CC that Satch recommended and my build mode is rich and of high quality)
I was talking about the hairs that come with this pack with my bestie just last night and he couldn't tell that one Cool Kitchen updo with the low-hanging bun apart from the basegame hairs. lol
I've heard that ice cream from Cool Kitchen, or at least that cool mocha mint flavor can apparently stack with the Seasons coldness and make your sim freeze to death, but I haven't yet experienced this in-game. They froze in their own kitchen even.
I’m using the build stuff and hairstyles, some clothes very very often. The only thing that I don’t like is that you can have 8 portions of ice cream which is for my 1-2 sims way too much. 😂
I really wonder what goes through their heads when they make the CAS part because it's so often... questionable. The apron is nice though, and I do use items from b&b all the time. Like you said, it's mostly worth it for builders (and if it's a style you like). I do wish the cabinets had swatches without the glass doors though.
I honestly really liked this pack/kit I use the ice cream machine in every build I do agree that it’s small but I was happy with it, and I acc don’t really use it for modern lol!
@@JokersD0ll & there are three (there’s more than three but these are my favorite three) ice cream flavors that are super helpful, Taste of diet (makes em loose weight without needing to work out), pure perfection (helps with cleaning, very good if you have dust to bust kit), & weight of the world (makes em gain weight). There are other flavors that do something but some flavors are just that , flavors. & keep in mind the garnishes & toppings also have an added effect & some traits also play a role. Taste of diet works best with cherries & mint leaves. & if your sim is athletic. Whipped cream & sprinkles if your sim is childish, there’s more but that’s all I can remember off the top of my head.
One more thing I should add, cause I’d be upset if my famous sim decided to make ice cream & ended up having a mental breakdown and either dying from being sad or hysterical 😂 Be careful feeding famous sims who may or may not have the emotion bomb fame quirk the Mental Upheaval flavor of ice cream (I think it’s at lvl 7 cooking lvl), well if you have a sim who has the fresh chef trait (aspiration reward trait from master chef) make the ice cream & a famous sim eats it, the chances of dying from sadness or hysteria is very high.
I always loved this pack. The limited CAS never really bothered me, because the pieces I liked I used frequently especially with the variety of swatches. I always used the build mode stuff, especially the different swatches on the poster. I had those posters all over. The flower vase and wall shelf with clutter is fun to use outside of the kitchen. I never used the ice cream maker 😅
The reason why there are fewer build assets is because counters are much more work to create and are really eight assets in one with all the different pieces. I agree that the pack in underwhelming, but it's just a little insight as to why it doesn't come with more build stuff. The cabinets it does come with aren't really my style, but they're ok if you want to change things up every once and a while. The piece that doesn't come in medium wall height is actually a hood, so irl, it would suck up all the smells from cooking, and it's meant to go above the stove under the short cabinets. I bought this pack a long time ago for the clutter and the ice cream, haha. I've actually had some good use out of it and enjoyed the pack overall. I still really like the hair with the headband, and I use it on one of my favorite sims.
I was stunned by the 10/10 on performance. Did not see that coming. I forget why I got this pack, but I do remember hearing something prior to getting it about it bringing back plant sims, which was confusing. I don’t know the time line for when plant sims came to TS4, so does anyone know if their initial temporary return was around the same time as this pack or if it was just that people thought the ice cream thing was as close as we were going to get to them returning.
Then you have me who saves up to buy certain packs just for one or two things. I was sharing an EA account with someone then decided to start purchasing my own Sims 4 packs. I had some sims saved to the gallery and they used minor things from A LOT of odd packs. I'm pretty sure this was one of my first ones, just for the fun hoodie with the funky white pattern across the chest. It's just how like I specifically bought Strangerville for the paranoid trait. I had a sim that had it and it just fits so much better than erratic trait.
I think it seems like it has less buy items b/c the counters and cabinets use a lot of pieces. I actually like the cas. I like womens clothes for my mom sims.
Please do “Get Famous” too 💘 I love your reviews and I’m in two minds whether or not to get that pack 😮💨 Also, anyone reading this, if you have the pack, your thoughts are appreciated 😌
It is a fun pack to play with. The world is okay I don’t really play in it often. Having the sims be an acting career can be entertaining. The cas is alright it comes with a lot of costumes. The build and buy reminds me very much of vintage glamour. I love it personally. The only thing about build and buy is the random set pieces that I never use. I’d give it 7/10.
Satch your overreacting…. This is the most beautiful stuff pack😍😍 and it has incredible gameplay we haven’t seen before in TS4. Admit that you like this pack
Unpopular opinion: I hate modern kitchens with a passion. I love cooking and modern kitchens don't feel like kitchens, they feel and look like laboratories. Sterile, cold and dead. It's not an environment I would want to prepare meals in 😩
