It’s currently in the bag! Love it. Seem I find the middle of the face more consistently. When I bought it I holed a dozen 10 footers in a row. So clearly I could not leave the store without it! 😂
I have got an old version of this putter and it is a great looking putter but I could never get used to it, it’s not very forgiving and you have to have the toe accelerate past the heal so much. Defiantly one for the purist and scotty do some great looking putters. Great review Dan keep up the good work.
Great video guy's and thanks to James for all that superb info, such incredible knowledge he has. I use one of those putters you mention a Wilson TPA18 and I've had it now approx 30yrs and I can tell you , it ain't going nowhere. It is the best putter ever and I can see why SC would want to produce something like it but I don't think they will ever succeed...
Much appreciated Frank, we’ll keep em coming for you! Great to hear you’ve found the love of your life in the Wilson TPA18, such a great feeling finding a putter you can rely on 😃🔥
Dan, you should do a test between the previous scotty cameron line and then new one, compare distance control and sound, etc. to see which one you have better control/feel with. Would be interesting for some to see the difference in face milling/inserts and the positive or negative effect they have on feel and control. Love the content!
Can’t beat an old school Tad Moore putter, he was way ahead of the game in putters before Scotty can be had these days for very little!! Even did a putter very similar to this Tms9 Robert Rock is a fan of the TM2 😁
I love this shape, I currently putt with a cleveland HB collection 2 which is very similar and I had odyssey 9s and a TM maranello in the past, which are the same headshape. I love the del mar but cannot possibly justify the price tag, especially when my cleveland only cost 30eur!
Just means that you're not the target audience then. Some of us appreciate the exclusivity that Scotty putters offer though and have no issues with the pricing. Few putters retain their value like a Scotty Cameron.
@@continental883 I ended up selling my cleveland HB collection 1 month ago for 70eur and I got a Yes! Sophia for 10eur. How many Scotties can you buy with that amount? Thanks
I always think that looks are a very important part of buying clubs not just the fitting of them you always have to be comfortable with what your using
I’d like to see some reviews on the less well known putter manufacturers, I’ve just moved from a TM Spider to a Cleveland Huntington Beach 8 putter and absolutely love it. However it was only by chance that I spotted it in a shop in Bangkok and tried it and several other Cleveland putters but I have not seen any reviews anywhere.
Always fancied a Del Mar however I think that they are pretty extreme on that toe flow. Really would have make sure that it suits the arc. Dan for you, if you do need a little more toe flow could you not just put a 10g weight in the heel and the 30g in the toe of your Newport2? Would that 20g make any difference or is it too minimal a weight? Be interested to see the before and after on SAM of this change.
Changing the weights into "Unbalanced" WON'T Change the Toe Flow much. It's the Neck Design and How it connects the Shaft to the Head, this is Why a Newport 2 doesn't have as much Toe Flow/Hang as the Newport 2.5 Face Balanced to Maximum Flow/Hang is only 90° and the Del Mar is at about 80°.
Interesting now you have access to all this data like never before that even when your head coach tells you the numbers are better (you are likely to putt better) that is still over ridden by looks and you prefer to use a putter you like the look of and are comfortable with to override the data. Nice video that. More of a review of fitting than the putter. Who would want to be James ' this is the best putter for and likely will make you better' customer 'yeah but I don't like how it looks, can I have one that doesn't work as well but looks nicer' 😂
That bad boy is right up my alley! I love heel shafted putters. I broke my neck back in '92, so for almost 8 months I couldn't swing a golf club, all I could do was putt. Well because I had to wear that rigid neck brace the only way I could putt was with a really wide open stance and heel shafted putters work so well with that kind of stance. Before the broken neck my putting was conventional and was below average. Ok it sucked! Since though I have continued to use the very open stance and putt great. I can see the line so much better. Sorry to ramble but I love HEEL SHAFTED PUTTERS!!!
Hi Dan, if there are no proper fitters that I’m able to get to, do you have any tips on trying/picking “the right” putter just by trying a few different styles and lengths? Or would you say making a long journey to get a proper fitting is worth the effort? If possible maybe you could discuss this on a live show? Thanks for the great content! Dan
Hi Dan, I know this question wasn’t directed at me but I will try my best to help. When it comes to a putter fitting, it is 100% worth the effort of travelling to find your local Sam Putt Lab Expert, however there are a couple of things you can do to get an idea on what type of putter is good for you. For length I have a really simple tip, try a few different length putters for 30 minutes and see which one makes your back hurt the least. Also you can get strike tape or sprays and tinker with length to see how it effects strike location for you. It’s difficult to know for sure what styles are best for you without a fit, however you can go old school and grab a few different styles of putters, head over to the putting green, and try 10 putts from 5ft with your eyes closed and see which one feels best and generates the best results. Hope this helps 👍🏻
Hi coach! Thanks for taking the time to reply, it’s much appreciated 👍🏻 Hopefully I can find a Sam putt lab fitter as I’d rather do it properly and know for sure that I have the correct style/size of putter. If I can’t I’ll take onboard what you have suggested.
@@coachjamesygolf9924 Hi. I find it easy to ensure my eyes are directly over the ball with the 35.5 inch Ping I’ve had for 30 years, but with the 34 inch Spider I picked up this week I find my eyes beyond the ball as a rule.
Would really like to see you play this putter Dan as a bit of an experiment. (Just a round or two) interesting to see if you could see past the look if you started sinking a few 15 footers. Lots of putters I think are ‘ugly’ (best example is the TM Spider) but there’s every chance they could be the one for me.... hard choices I think and really hard to test.
Is this similar to the 8802 from Wilson? I know that's a blade and the Del Mar is more of a mallet but I'd like to get something from SC that is in that same idea.
1. Thx for time and review. 2. We all have our preferences. Shouldn't reviews be about product and not our preferences to sway people. Clearly there are lots of people who like it so they make it. 3. I bought a Scotty Special Select Squareback and, like the Del Mar, it has a pistolino grip. They feel so cheap! Incredibly disappointing considering the £350 price tag.
Don’t know why but any putter review seems meaningless to me - I can watch different manufacturers and club reviews and find them really interesting - is it that one club you physically need to go to a Pro and get yourself properly measured (I know, I know you should do that with all clubs) I know what I mean but can’t explain it 😂
I've searched RUclips a few times for a review of a del mar and couldn't find one. Thanks Dan 💪. I love the look of the del mar.

Love the shape of this putter, had the Wilson TPA in the same shape
Love the Del Mar shape. I used a GoLo 3 for a while and several Odyssey 9s Favourite is the Ping Shea in black..
I've been bagging a "99 Sergio Garcia Del Mar for 20 years and I have no desire to replace it. Absolutely love mine.
Just picked up a nice used Select Newport 2. Looks and feels fantastic indoors but can't wait to get it out on the course. Roll on the 29th!!🏌️😀

Another great review, I will watch it now! Great putter. Most are.
I got the Wilson TPA when Faldo won the masters and still got it now in the bag only changed grip last year because I had to got all cracked and dry
This is the best of the lot for me, it just flows. It has replaced my beloved Select Squareback which I've worked with for 7 years.
My favorite head shape, although I currently use the more "stretched-back" similar-looking Newport 3.
Dan the newport 2.5 is between the Del Mar & Newport 2 in terms of toe flow... perhaps you should review that also ?
It will be out soon 👍
Love this style of putter. Not a huge Scitty fan so have used the Oddessey no 9 instead.
Same!
Wish it was easier to get a del mar button back . Love the look of those putters 😍

Not yet Brian, may have it in the bank but not sure

Hi Andy, by head position are you referring to strike? Because it absolutely has an influence on strike.

Good looking putter. Nice review Dan and James. However a bit to pricey if I am honest.
It naturally closes ..it suits for longer putts where you do have to increase y our back swing....its a great putter of the grèen
