Build around Spencer rather he is the future or not, take 2 losing or average seasons. He the cheapest/quickest way to rebuild the roster. Cut contracts. Get salary, Draft well, particularly Oline, Dline, blocking TE, S, LB. Find prime free agents with cap savings, start the savings now, when a team is built. THEN, get your Quarterback.

Any QB can get you to the playoffs consistently if the team is good. No QB will get you to the playoffs if the team is bad. Saints fans seem to think Brees was pretty good. All I've learned from watching closer on the Saints this year. Is that the organization and overall team is rather garbage. Carr realistically is in the right for not taking a pay-cut. Carr was overperforming with the team around him. Saints hands down are terrible. Same with plenty of other teams like the Panthers, Raiders, Jets. I love Rattler, he isn't good enough yet to make us competitive. The Saints DON'T have core players aside from maybe Kamara, Olave, Fuaga? Mathieu, Hill, Jordan are all aging. Kamara is getting up there too. Saints aren't a winning team in general.

And a friendly reminder for people who don't understand (which, by looking through the comments means 95% of you) the Saints can restructure Carr (and any other player) on a soft restructure without any input from the player. But all that does is convert salary to bonus which can be prorated (you're gonna need to look up what "prorated" means, I know). In order to a maxx restructure the player has to agree. And a restructure is NOT a pay cut, even though it appears that 95% of you think it is. It's JUST moving money. That' it. Now the biggest issue for you is that you can restructure Carr and reduce his 2025 cap hit, but you have to move that hit someplace else. And you only have 2026 (and two void years that are publicly known, Over The Cap is worthless trash). The problem with void years? Andrus Peat was the 4th highest cap hit for the Saints in 2024 (higher than Derek Carr). Another form of max restructure is an actual renegotiation. Which is what seems most likely. And that could reduce Carrs pay and cap hit in 2025, but would mean adding additional years for him (remember, Carr must agree to it and that's the only thing he would agree to.). Also, Saints "fans" cheering the idea that Carr won't get paid anything if he released and signs somewhere else. IF Carr is released (and it's not likely) and signs somewhere else you should hope it actually is for $30 million a year. Because whatever he signs for is reduced from his dead cap number for the Saints. The reason Russell Wilson signed for league minimum was because he wanted the Broncos to be forced to eat the full $32 million of dead cap. Whatever amount Carr signs for will be an OFFSET from dead cap hit and reduce the Saints Dead Cap hit. So Carr will sign for league minimum, not because that's all he can get, but as a big FU to the Saints.
I doubt any of the top coaching candidates would take the job sans Carr and elevate Rattler. They would just go get their own guy in the draft at that point. The Rattler talk just makes little to no sense.

Actually no, Carr has a winning record over the last 2 seasons, and this season barely played. Saints had a winning record last season, and would have won the division if not for the backup QB blowing a 17-0 lead in the 3rd quarter. This year, the saints were the worst team in the NFL w/o Carr, and a playoff caliber team with Carr. Unfortunately the OL was God awful and got him injured early in the season.
Rattler was far more responsible for this season then Carr was. When Carr got injured, Saints still had a winning record. When he came back, they were on a 6 game losing streak. TF is he supposed to do about that? The team was injured AF, the OL play was literally the worst in the NFL, and the defense couldn't stop giving up the lead. Yeah, no QB is going to be successful in that situation chief, none.

If he was being paid top 5 or even top 10, that would make sense. When you're being paid top 17 and performing at or near top, them taking a pay cut isn't reasonable. There's plenty of other guys on the roster not playing at or near a top 10 level that can either be cut or take a pay cut. Besides, Brady restructured just like Carr said he would do. He took the league minimum but converted the rest of his salary he was owed to a bonus.

Rattler and the TEAM can definitely be .500 if they, first, stay healthy for the most part. Rattler name starter and practice with the starters before the season starts. AND the defense figures out how to stop the run. Next year's schedule is not bad.
All this talk is about the Quarterback. You can have the best QB but not the best OL and you won't go anywhere. Also I put some of the blame on the OC which to me he changed game plans after the first two games. I don't agree with his play calling when it's 3rd and 2 or 3 yards for a first. Instead of calling a quick slant of 4 to 5 yards he calls a 15 to 20 sideline pass.
He has a no trade clause in his contract so he can only be cut. If they were to cut him post June 1st, the team saves 30 million dollars. In my opinion, I cut him because it will be the same ol situation with how he plays.

Tell me how much you would give up of your salary to bring in help to your company and how much does Carr have to give up to bring in the help the Saints need. The only thing I would consider for that, if I was Carr, is, if the Saints said we have a top 5 guard or tackle in a trade deal and we only need you to take a pay cut of 3 million a year to get him here. 3 million dollars equals 6 million dollars in 2 years. Would you think the people around you will support that decision considering there are other players in the league who’ve done less with a more lucrative contract such as Watson? Considering those factors, you can probably understand why the man wouldn’t take a pay cut.

As a Carr fan as well, in any other instance I’d agree to just restructure, but unfortunately the cap situation is so bad we can’t afford to. We need to cut Carr and save for 2026. Saints are at a crossroads as an organization to whether we wanna have one extremely terrible season to reset everything and have the ability to sign big time players in 2026 and draft a top QB prospect, OR keep being mediocre with anywhere from 5-9 wins for the next 3-5 seasons bare minimum.

Get salary, Draft well, particularly Oline, Dline, blocking TE, S, LB. Find prime free agents with cap savings, start the savings now, when a team is built. THEN, get your Quarterback.

As someone who has supported Carr from the moment he stepped through the door, I do think he is a good dude and he does work hard and try his best for the team. However, speaking purely as business, Saints need to cut him and eat the dead money for 2025 to save the ability to sign players and also draft well in 2026.

All I've learned from watching closer on the Saints this year. Is that the organization and overall team is rather garbage. Carr realistically is in the right for not taking a pay-cut. Carr was overperforming with the team around him. Saints hands down are terrible. Same with plenty of other teams like the Panthers, Raiders, Jets. I love Rattler, he isn't good enough yet to make us competitive. The Saints DON'T have core players aside from maybe Kamara, Olave, Fuaga? Mathieu, Hill, Jordan are all aging. Kamara is getting up there too. Saints aren't a winning team in general.

And a friendly reminder for people who don't understand (which, by looking through the comments means 95% of you) the Saints can restructure Carr (and any other player) on a soft restructure without any input from the player. But all that does is convert salary to bonus which can be prorated (you're gonna need to look up what "prorated" means, I know).
In order to a maxx restructure the player has to agree. And a restructure is NOT a pay cut, even though it appears that 95% of you think it is. It's JUST moving money. That' it. Now the biggest issue for you is that you can restructure Carr and reduce his 2025 cap hit, but you have to move that hit someplace else. And you only have 2026 (and two void years that are publicly known, Over The Cap is worthless trash). The problem with void years? Andrus Peat was the 4th highest cap hit for the Saints in 2024 (higher than Derek Carr). Another form of max restructure is an actual renegotiation. Which is what seems most likely. And that could reduce Carrs pay and cap hit in 2025, but would mean adding additional years for him (remember, Carr must agree to it and that's the only thing he would agree to.).
Also, Saints "fans" cheering the idea that Carr won't get paid anything if he released and signs somewhere else. IF Carr is released (and it's not likely) and signs somewhere else you should hope it actually is for $30 million a year. Because whatever he signs for is reduced from his dead cap number for the Saints. The reason Russell Wilson signed for league minimum was because he wanted the Broncos to be forced to eat the full $32 million of dead cap. Whatever amount Carr signs for will be an OFFSET from dead cap hit and reduce the Saints Dead Cap hit. So Carr will sign for league minimum, not because that's all he can get, but as a big FU to the Saints.
I doubt any of the top coaching candidates would take the job sans Carr and elevate Rattler. They would just go get their own guy in the draft at that point. The Rattler talk just makes little to no sense.

Actually no, Carr has a winning record over the last 2 seasons, and this season barely played.
Saints had a winning record last season, and would have won the division if not for the backup QB blowing a 17-0 lead in the 3rd quarter.
This year, the saints were the worst team in the NFL w/o Carr, and a playoff caliber team with Carr. Unfortunately the OL was God awful and got him injured early in the season.
Rattler was far more responsible for this season then Carr was. When Carr got injured, Saints still had a winning record. When he came back, they were on a 6 game losing streak. TF is he supposed to do about that?
The team was injured AF, the OL play was literally the worst in the NFL, and the defense couldn't stop giving up the lead. Yeah, no QB is going to be successful in that situation chief, none.

I agree that it's time to move off Carr and take the hit, but this idea that Rattler can keep us around .500 when he's currently 0-6 as a starter is just blind faith. He has major flaws as a player that may not get fixed by another offseason. If you go with Rattler, it needs to be with the expectation you're competing for a top 5 pick. If he does better, then take it as a nice surprise.

If he was being paid top 5 or even top 10, that would make sense. When you're being paid top 17 and performing at or near top, them taking a pay cut isn't reasonable. There's plenty of other guys on the roster not playing at or near a top 10 level that can either be cut or take a pay cut.
Besides, Brady restructured just like Carr said he would do. He took the league minimum but converted the rest of his salary he was owed to a bonus.

Rattler and the TEAM can definitely be .500 if they, first, stay healthy for the most part. Rattler name starter and practice with the starters before the season starts. AND the defense figures out how to stop the run. Next year's schedule is not bad.

Instead of calling a quick slant of 4 to 5 yards he calls a 15 to 20 sideline pass.
