For the darker scenes, i dont use any desk lamps, and only brick built lights. I also put some color transparent pieces over flashlights when i dont have enough brick built lights. For the tanks, i put tiny wired LED inside of the stud.

Well i sharpied it, and to remove the sharpie what i do is grab a dry erase marker like an expo marker, and draw and press hard on the sharpied area, and use some water and a towel and it goes away.
