Dakota, you are such a jewel.... one of the best restorations ever. I live in Germany and have seen many Bild Lillis, but even your restoration on a Bild Lilli clone doll is absolutely awesome 💫
Your pep talk while making the clothes was so healing for me, even if it may not be Barbie or doll related this kind of thing can be taken away for any situation where unsolicited advice is concerned. I need a little Dakota in my head giving me pep talks 😆
Awesome job on the HK Lilli❣️She looks gorgeous 💕 It makes me want one of my own now 😸 I'm of the school of thought that (ruthless) Ruth Handler stole the Bild Lilli idea/design and improved on it. The story of how Lilli’s creator lost his rights to Mattel is sad. The fact Mattel has never reissued/reproduced a Bild Lilli is telling that they don't want the truth to be common knowledge. But as you said, (big) business is cutthroat. Happy Holidays❣️❣️
Thank you!! ☺️ I think Mattel would like to forget Lilli tbh. I honestly think they want the mass majority of the public to think it started with Barbie. Which fine, but we can’t forget the history that made Barbie Barbie. Toy industry has always been cut throat. Especially at that time. And Mattel who was a smaller company pre Barbie success, definitely saw an opportunity and ran with it and to cover their tracks they bought the rights for a measly amount. It was underhanded but they did get their karma in the 70s. Where both were disgraced and tossed aside. On one hand I do love Ruth handler because of the association to Barbie and being a woman in the industry when there was only a few doing it. She did what she had to do to be a success, and eventually it got her in the end. My favorite Barbie executive is Jill Barad. She is an inspiration, just as Ruth is honestly. They both helped make Barbie, Barbie. We need a new one to come in and do that also, because she’s lost in her history and can’t decide what to do next
The Facebook groups terrify me! Your dolls always turn out beautiful and the important thing is that you and your customers are happy with them, and Bitter-Facebook-Betty can't take that away. The HK Lilli ended up looking lovely, and her outfit is perfect!! You did a great job 💜💜
Hey Dakota can you repeat that message one more time for the back row 🎉 this community can be wild, I have gotten so much hate for my dolls from other people in the community, and your message is 100 percent accurate and your restoration is amazing as usual keep it up love it
The restoration turned out great. I've never owned a Lilli or a Lilli clone, but I've always appreciated the aesthetic. I've been collecting Barbie since I was a child in the 70s, I transitioned from playing with the dolls to collecting them as I got older, I never went through an "I'm too old for toys" phase, at least not yet. I really like that fashion you made, it's such a simple, chic, quintessentially 1950s casual look. If I had a Lilli, I'd want her in that fashion. Great job! 🥳
She is absolutely stunning! You did such a beautiful job on this doll. Are your restoration are amazing! Thank you for bringing your talent to RUclips. 😊😊❤❤
Loved this! I once tried to restore a HK Lilli. It isn't easy! I gave up when it came to the hair 😂 LOVE how you kept getting side tracked with #1 Barbie, it was SO cute! 😍 I know EXACTLY the feeling of getting one's dream dolls that make us realise that we've been wasting our money on poor substitutes 😂
Wow you did an anazing Job on the HongKong Lilli 🤩☺️🎀 she looks so much than original Lilli really outstanding work 🤩💖☺️ The difference between original Lilli and Barbie in terms of Quality is that Lilli was a doll for adults and made for display while Barbie was made for children and therefor she had to be more stable for play ☺️ but Lilli as I would call is like the Godmother of #1 Barbie ☺️🌸💖
you know the way in the barbie movie she comes to the real world ... im like 94% sure that 90s barbies came with her and stayed and mde a youtube channel lol ive never seen someone whos face looks so much like the barbie from the 90s its wild, girl ur stunning and this whole restoration was just so impressive im deffinitly subscibing :) 💖
I love me some good doll history!! Lilli came out so pretty, I think she's a perfect example for Lilli! This was so much fun to watch while I work on my own collection. You always have such a fun outlook and it helps me stay positive these days!
This turned out so wonderful!!! It is so special and exciting to see a restoration like this, I’m sure that no one if going to be able to make anything like this since Lillie’s are so hard to find. Dolls are truly magical, I held a build Lillie one time and it’s a staple of my doll collecting memories. Also the outfit In my opinion turned out wonderful! I hope to see the museum exhibit at some point. I probably won’t get to but at least I can see this video!
I love that you did this restoration. I saw my one and only original Bild Lily in the wild in Germany, while visiting my grandmother, many MANY years ago. I think I still have a copy of the original cartoon strip somewhere. She was not a sex doll but the comics were about a very curvy, rather naive, young gold digger. (Think gentlemen prefer blondes) She "innocently"got herself into a number of rather compromising situations, resulting in lots of innuendo. Perfect for Bild, the men's magazine of the era.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the restoration, and what a fun story! And I agree, she was a fun girl. Not a call girl. She would’ve thrived in todays day lol
OMG!!! I DO HAVE A LILI TOO!!! Hi from Mexico 😊 I brought it on ebay its a clone to and its one of my FAVORITES DOLLS mine it was as well with damage hair and with luck i found a wig made of natural hair and same color!! I did have some trouble to replace it but finally done , still haven't cut it and comb as it should be she still have a long light brown hair 😊
This was a wonderful restoration. I appreciated your history of the Bild Lilli. I actually owned one and sold her to a Collector in Switzerland. I made a video about it. This video makes me sad that I didn’t keep her. Bild Lilli is Iconic. I’m so happy to see you bring this clone version back to her original beauty. 💕🥰
Aww, I’m so glad you enjoyed the history of the doll! And that’s so cool you actually had one! I get that frequently, where collectors who had her but sold her regret it. That’s the magic of Lilli!
She came out beautiful omg I wanna send you mine to get beautified 😂. Mine does have a super hard curl I mean it's like the curl was super glued hard as a rock 😂. No ribbon but it does have like the sewing string if that makes sense. Thank you very much for loading this video.
Hello again! I am learning so much that you have sparked my love for collecting vintage Barbie again. I recently bought me a 6 or 7 Barbie (?) and I applied some of the skills you have taught us-so fun! You did a fab job with this doll!👍
I can hardly wait to see what your next renovation that you are teasing is gonna be. I hope and pray that it’s a brunette Marlo flip Barbie my favorite.
Love how you're restored the HK Lilli doll, the doll look so fresh and new, amazing work. For vintage Bild Lilli doll and HK Lilli doll, the type of hair they used call Viscose doll, for Vintage Barbie 1, 2, 3 and 4 ponytail doll, the hair that it used call mohair hair, I hope this information help.
Thank you for sharing that information! That will help when restoring them in the future!! I used mohair because it was a nicer fiber than what she had originally. I doubt I’ll ever get another sent to me, but if I do, I now know what they used! Thank you!!
Gosh, there are so many clones of this type of doll.I have a head, but no body and I don't know what kind it is, but it is a bit heavy.I may rewatch and at least redo the head.
Hi Dakota - I love that color top - it’s really pretty. And this video- you have outdone yourself. Really wonderful - I learn so much from your videos. ❤
I wish I could show you mine and the dress i made for her. I don't know how to draw her eye brows , when i was manipulating her head to putting her hair dint realize that i was erasing with my hands her make up 😢 ... What kind of paint can i use ??
I used to collect Barbie dolls I had almost 300 but I sold them all 20 years ago for $1 a piece at a yard sale but I have several handmade outfits that my aunt made some are crocheted and some are sewn I am 65 years old so I don't collect anything anymore
I digress. Barbie was an improvement and has more quality than Lilli who probably would have disappeared in a couple of years while Barbie reinvented herself constantly like Cher and Madonna 😌
Dakota, you are such a jewel.... one of the best restorations ever. I live in Germany and have seen many Bild Lillis, but even your restoration on a Bild Lilli clone doll is absolutely awesome 💫

She is amazing after your restoration. The outfit is great too! I love her extreme eyeliner that almost goes into her hairline.
Awesome job on the HK Lilli❣️She looks gorgeous 💕 It makes me want one of my own now 😸

Great platinum blond hair, instead of the yellow!!!!!
Yes ditch the yellow!
