One of the most brilliantly funny scenes ever. No matter how many viewings, how many years pass, pants pissing comedy.

Isn't it amazing? I cannot imagine that movie without that scene... the juxtaposition of the monster... the elegant clothes... the beautiful silvery black and white.... the classy Irving Berlin tune... and then the garbled lyrics from the the monster who is trying his best and the fact the uber-serious doctor is staking his scientific reputation on this moment... it's like they invented a new way to be funny.
And the film is a patchwork of such scenes, highbrown flirting with low brow wrapped in a veneer of elegance. Like a fart filtered through silk.

Lesson learn. If you want it so bad, if you think its the right thing to do. You have to fight for it.
