+funbro1 really apriciate the time you took for this simple oil change now i dont need to spend $40-50 at my dealer ship! just need to buy a jack and stopper. although being on a slopped driveway doesn't help. can i get away with having to use only 2 jacks or should i have the vehicle up on all 4 when i do the change?
This is spot on! Applicable to my very own 1.4L, however I have the Rallye rather than the Aero, and I've struggled to know the difference and which one is harder to find! Again thank you! Saved me 70 bucks
I hear a lot of people are having problems with the 1.4L engine model dodge darts. Lot's of problems with the engine, transmission and electrical. I've seen some videos on here about it.
funbro1 Maybe there's were Lemons. I hear that the suspension and wheel bearing go out fast also. It might be a problem with the manufacturer of those parts i think. Those parts are supposed to last very long unless you drive on a road that has lot's of pot holes and gravel every single day.
Just wanted to let you know the Oil Filter Cap is actually 27mm not 29mm :) But thank you for this video just changed my oil for the first time ^.^ #GirlPower
Do you think that the Shell Rotella T6 oil work better for you than some of the other 5W40 synthetic oils? Some people might suggest to stay away from it, but I think the diesel formulation might almost be better because it is made for hard working diesel engines even though the Dodge Dart engine isn't a diesel. Some Subaru owners seem to swear by it also. Thanks, Frank
+Frank Subasic I'm not sure I would vary too much from what the manufacturer recommends, the damage that it "could" cause may not show up immediately. Good question, and something to ponder.
Operating conditions such as temperature all play a part of what type of oil to use. Your best bet is to stick with the correct weight of oil that the manufacturer suggests API ratings are all about the same. The current API rating is SN and that was manufactured starting in 2011.
Is there a specific way to change the filter in the housing? The old one I took out was very tight and the new one (Mopar replacement from ModernPerformance) feels very loose in the canister. I installed it and there were no leaks so I assume everything was OK. Is that how yours was as well?
Thanks for this video! I changed the oil using this video! Great help except for that dang oil filter! I had to use a 1 1/16" socket for that filter cover. They did not sell a 29MM at all at any Discount Auto, or Advance Auto. Was thinking about going to Home Depot or Lowes but didn't want to go there. Oil filter came out fine. Thanks again! Know how to clear a Gas Cap Engine light?
at 1:20 what is that filter? is that only on the multi air? does the dart have a standard oil filter as well? I have a 13 dart rallye 2.0. can you elaborate
+Concepción Hidalgo It depends on the driving conditions and environment. Always follow the manufacturers recommended schedule for replacing the filter. As for brand, that is a personal preference, I know a lot of people like the K&N brand. Thanks for watching.
@@BARCtrooper Not really. It allows the oil to reach the engine a few milliseconds faster, but the difference is pretty minuscule. What is more important is following a proper drain interval like 7500 miles instead of changing every 3,000 or waiting until 15,000.
its a 27 mm and u don't have to remove the cover let the filer drain long enough u don't have to use a rag and that oil prolly isint right it is 5w40 and synthetic but I don't this rotella has the right api rating since its for diesels
+fredtflail omg he just freaked me out because i just bought a 27 mm socket and while watching this video i was like WHAT?!?!?! ran over to my car and put the 27mm socket on and was like phew. thank god i didnt buy the wrong one. i bought it on amazon and didnt want to return it lol it is a 27 mm socket. lol
funbro1 He's not rambling. It's pretty clear that he is correcting your mistakes. Your socket size was wrong. 27mm NOT 29mm. Oil Type wrong too. Also, the cover does not need to come off, why remove it? Lastly, you don't need a rag to keep oil from dripping off the oil filter so long as you let it drain a bit before removing it. Don't get me wrong, you made a nice video, quick and to the point, but he does have a point.
@@LeoInterVir sorry for bringing up an old post but I just bought STP euro blend 5w40 full synthetic. It says on the back it meets all API standards, is it still the wrong stuff?
Directly from the owners manual "We recommend you use API Certified SAE 5W-40 Synthetic Engine Oil." The user manual doesn't even recommend using dealer oil, penzoil or any other brand just Synthetic 5W-40 that is API certified. So if you look at the video real close at 3:33 you will note that the oil used meets all of these requirements thus making it the CORRECT oil for the vehicle. Thanks for watching, I hope the video was able to help you in changing your oil.

Rotella for the win! I use the same oil for my S4, works like a charm.
I think you got the sizes mixed up. Drain plug is the 13mm and the cover removal is the 7mm

Operating conditions such as temperature all play a part of what type of oil to use. Your best bet is to stick with the correct weight of oil that the manufacturer suggests API ratings are all about the same. The current API rating is SN and that was manufactured starting in 2011.
Any 5W40 fully synthetic is fine as long as it is correct API rating.

I soak the new filter with fresh oil.

Shouldn't you drain the old oil before putting in the new filter in its just get soaked with old oil.
