- I found another AMAZING mystery box of cards at a local thrift store. This time it is Magic the Gathering cards. Hundreds of cards from Revised up to current day. Check out what I found... spoiler... there's a BIG hit in here !!

Say what you might about him not recognizing most of the high-price cards, but there's a certain type of joy that I had watching him go down memory lane, taking out cards that weren't expensive but held clear sentimental value. Thanks for sharing this experience with us and congrats on the great find!
FINALLY.... someone who understands how fun this video was for me !!!! Yes the valuable cards were nice, but I enjoyed getting the Serra Angels, Nightmares, Force of Nature and those more !
I don't have nostalgia on these, just new to this topic and videos. So this video is different to others I've seen that are concentrating on current values. And that's what I thought your motivation was to buy. So this video is kind of mixed for me.
I loved how he casually passed up the lion’s eye diamond….. always nice to get a dually too!!! I would be stoked to get that thrift store pick up!

LIONS.EYE.DIAMOND. Check the price. Also I saw a Mystical Tutor and a Necropotence. Demonic Tutor paid for the box by itself. And of course the Bayou. Nice pulls.
This was a crazy box/find. So many great cards. Even all the lower dollar cards really added up.

There was also a number of RL cards in there ( mudslide, glacial crevasses and at least 5 others ) I forgot which 1's by the time I wrote my comment lol

That miscut necropotence is definitely worth looking into. I’m not an expert but there are groups that specifically look for misprints and will pay a premium for them. Some can get 10x the NM price depending on how rare the printing anomaly is.
A lot of viewers have talked about that card. My first time finding a misprint/miscut.
Ended up trading it off to a friend.
Who/where looks for misprints because in literally have so many misprints/miscut/printer almost out of ink

The Demonic Tutor by itself probably makes the buy worth it for $25. Also white border cards with the column (Legends), moon (The Dark), anvil (Antiquities) and scimitar (Arabian Nights) are from Chronicles which was a reprint set.
More like $45. I have one from Revised.
Those pesky white border reprints have fooled me more than once.
Not monetary though. Just when sorting through the collection 😁
The Serendib Efreet is interesting @18:43 it's a blue creature on a green background. It was a common misprint in revised. The art for ifh-bin Efreet (or something along those lines) along with it's associated green background was printed with the name, casting cost, text, and power/toughness of Serendib Efreet.

Wow, I've bought about a dozen thrift store boxes and never come close to this! Finding a dual land, LED, or any of the multiple reserved list cards you hit would be a dream! Congrats on the score!
I've bought a few mystery boxes/lots of both sports cards, MTG, Pokemon and more.... this is my best find EVER!
He casually passed the bombs and set aside all the trash. Lol.

Just seen this today. The funniest thing was the cards he kept pulling out saying I think this may have been a rare were mostly from the Fallen Empires set (the crown symbol ones). It was an expansion set sold in 8 card boosters only, the boosters had 6 cards from the common sheet and 2 cards from the uncommon sheet. There literally were no rares, just some uncommons which were rarer than others (which were on the print sheet multiple times).
Yep, I had stopped playing a ways before Fallen Empires. Did a LOT of research after the video. Lots of great cards I missed... and lots I thought were good, but weren't !!

The banners are Alliances.
Fun fact: Alliances had an interesting rarity system. C1, C2, U1 & U2. Certain card variants were harder to get than others.
This is amazing, I ran into something similar at a comic shop, I bought 2 boxes of singles and found many cards from beta-legends!

With old cards common can also be worth a lot of money. Don't count too much on creatures though, 95%+ of them are just outclassed by today's standard,

Great find for 25 dollars! As people already told you, you passed up a Lion's eye diamond. I will get the Bayou you found checked, it seemed a little bit too "glossy" imho, but was probably the light ;)

Sold the LED and Bayou quickly after. Traded a bunch to a friend and slowly trickled the $5-$10 sales over the next few months.

Yeah, this was a crazy good one.... Sold about $1K, traded off a bunch and still have a stack of sub $10 cards still here.

The Bayou alone is probably worth 200 times what the guy paid for it. And, a revised Demonic Tutor.
Got $300 for the Bayou and $450 for the LED.
That Goblin Digging Team with black boarder and the crescent moon symbol is an original "The Dark" card. Don't think it's worth a ton but I'd sleeve it.

The Demonic Tutor in the front paid for the lot. The rest were just extra padding for the wallet. Dear God man, if I had found this I would poop YOUR pants out of excitement.

Great find sir, thanks for sharing:) The collection reminds me of the range of cards you'd typically see in trade binders during the Mirage block, even with the sleeving of only a few cards and not sleeving the dual land. Makes me think the original owner gave up collecting/playing many years ago and just stored the box in a closet. All the best.

@@ThatCardGuy Many got played with before anyone thought to preserve them with sleeves, but still have 24 home-brew decks from that era. Problem is: everyone plays 'Commander' format these days, and they're afraid of my geezer decks. 🤣
The white border from legends, the dark, Arabian nights and some of the other sets. with the set symbol makes them chronicles not from the original set

First i was "ha, he casually went over the pyro/hydroblast and the hymns" then he found the necro and i thought "thats a good find for 25bucks with the tutor, nice" then the bayou.... And then the FREAKING LED and he closses over it.... This the box everyone is dreaming to find when buying random collections on ebay ect. :D
My best find ever! I'm out looking for deals just about every day and doubt I'll get another box close to this good.
fun fact, back knight and white night will never be able to fight because they have protection from each other.
The only thing more baller than cruising past a LED would have been to find an old Alliances' Force of Will and rip it in half while commenting about how garbage it is because of the high casting cost. Great video man, Serra used to slap!

That was a very strange card. It's authenticity was questionable. Card felt a bit off. Gave it to a friend.
@@ThatCardGuy It is a Miscut Necropotence (wich gives it a very higher price than a normal one), I don't think any of those cards are fake
@@ThatCardGuy Misprints / cuts are more valuable to the right collector - and Necropotence has such history, its value is always high!
Yeah, that miscut Necro is probably worth 2-3× the normal price, and that's a $50 card normally.

@@epicsketchers not pissed, more sad then anything. I play with my 12 and 15 year old boys. I can only imagine there faces had they got to go through these. Either of them would have been jumping and screaming running around with excitement after seeing a dual land or lion eye diamond, he completely misted the Tutor and diamond, went by them like they were commons. Not to mention he had no idea what chronicles is. Just wish someone could have found these that would actually appreciate what they got.

I was very excited to find and go through these cards. As I said in the video, I played "back in the day" with Unlimited, Revised, Ice Age and such. I haven't kept up with newer releases as it seems there have been 100s of series since then. Seeing the Dual Land, Serra Angels, Nightmare, Force of Nature and more made me happy to relive my youthful days of playing.
I don't have kids who are interested in MTG, so absolutely I'll sell these. Get them to players/collectors who will use and appreciate them.

Goodwill sells them for about 75+ per lot. I saw one lot at nearly 700.

When it comes to valuing old Magic cards, you can’t judge just on border color and commonality. You can find a black border common worth hundreds. Also be mindful of black border cards without a set symbol. Could be Beta/Alpha. Also some white border could be Unlimited and worth a lot.

@@ThatCardGuy I can tell you for a certainly that the darker Serra Angel was Unlimited. I know I saw a few more Unlimited cards as well.
@@joeycote480 that 5th Serra Angel with the 1995 copyright date is from 4th Edition, the other four were definitely from revised.
Had some good stuff. Lucky hits on few big money cards but even some other stuff. Looked like a few mystic remoras. Hot commander card at about $15 each. Revised sol rings for for a decent amount too.

2002 I picked up 87 lions eye diamonds for $0.15 a piece and yes I have 87 of them 😆🤙 everybody put them in a deck and went to play them you go no discard your hand before you get to play anyting smoking powerful back then with wheel of Fortune and timespiral.
WOW.... that's crazy. I sold so many of these type cards in the early 1990s when I stopped playing.
@@ThatCardGuy I don't know if it's just me but the duel land looked a little too shiny. If you take a Jeweler's loupe and look at the casting cost with the loop it should look like a perfect print if it looks like a bunch of stars it's not real . but you can only see it with a Jeweler's loop. Or go into a dark room and shine a LED light through it it should look like gel and you should be able to read both sides of the card. 😆🤙 Keep rocking my friend

I know this video is a little old... but that Bayou is Unlimited, not Revised. One of the giveaways is the "T" for a tap symbol. For Revised, they changed it to the arrow and got rid of the "T" because it didn't work in other languages

I'm curious what the total price of what he found was. I'm guessing maybe up to $1,000. I know Bayou is probably about 1/2 that depending on the shape of the card, a minimum of at least $300. Definitely not bad for $25 and some tax.
I got $450 for the LED and $300 for the Bayou. Traded off a few hundred worth to a friend as well. Still have quite a few $3-$10 cards.

It was an odd miscut. Card felt "weird" too, not sure if legit, but a friend wanted it, so traded it to them.
Yea, came across this video a bit later than most of the other commenters, but I noticed a lot of missed cards.. Honestly I would go and price every single one from the box. Even things like the Sol Rings and things u might immediately disregard are worth money. I know lots of other commenters have mentioned specifics and that is great but you should probably just double check everything. There are a lot of cards, but with that stack in particular im sure it is worth it.
At least a few things that people didnt mention, the mystic remora is worth at least $10 or so right now and some other things that add up quickly.
After I made the video I spent hours researching everything. Learned a lot. So many good cards in this batch.
goodwill has a policy to throw these out as soon as they find them. call your local goodwill and call them stupid. for the sake of classic mtg collectors everywhere
I have found a couple smaller bags of MTG at Goodwills, but not many.

Video was done several months ago and all the big cards have already been sold.
If u bought them to resale you might as well just hold them because they are all going to go up and then you can really tax the players
I traded the reserved list cards to a friend who stashes them away.
I've yet to find a single MtG card at any of my thrift stores.
They may send in all cards to Goodwill.com auctions.

That Miss cut necropotence is a good hit.. it’s worth quite a bit normally, but people like to collect old misprints and they go for a premium
