    Man, I still want to buy a new one of these! Ever since they came out in 2020 and I started following your videos. Right now here in the Atlanta market many of the local dealers have the five speed on sale right now for 16995 and inventory levels are really high right now. As a matter of fact, the dealer closest to me has 53 in stock right now. 😮

      @ it’s for a 24. They actually have about 5 or 6 manuals to choose for. A fully loaded SRwith cold weather package about $21k. I have gotten use to a CVT now with this Lincoln hybrid. Only reason I would buy one is just to get those good highway mpg‘s, and those lower RPMs at 80 miles an hour. I sure do like shifting gears!

    In reference to the variable blower fan speed and the Versa smart alternator, here is what I have found. It does have a smart alternator and it does affect voltage and therefore fan speed. If you look at the negative battery terminal there is plugged sensor with extra wires going to the computer. I installed a cigarette lighter style digital voltage display in the available cabin port so I could monitor voltage as I drive. The voltage will vary between 11.9 to 14.5. The fan will speed up with higher voltage and slow down with lower. This is how they designed it, with the theory that the alternator will put less drag on the engine at lower voltage and therefore slightly increase fuel mileage. Most of the time the voltage reads in the 12.2 to 12.5 range and about the only time I see it up at 14.5 is when slowing down, like at an off ramp. My only concern with all this is that I suspect the battery never gets charged to 100%, even after a long trip. A fully charged resting battery should read 12.7 volts and I think this system only keeps the battery at around 12.45 volts or 80%. Old school alternators charged at a constant 14.5, varying the amperage as needed. There are some people in other youtube videos who are unplugging the sensor on the negative battery terminal, thus blocking the computer from sending variable voltage info to the alternator. The alternator will then revert to being a normal old school alternator, putting out 14.5 volts. I haven't tried this yet. I have installed a solar trickle charger to boost battery voltage when the car is parked. I'm kind of obsessed with battery health, having lived off the grid with solar for many years. A lead acid battery will last the longest, when kept fully charged. Funny how hearing that A/C fan change speeds on day one led me down this rabbit hole. This has been a great car, no regrets!....Thanks Youtoobe169 for all your great Versa videos

      First off, thanks for the kind words! This is very interesting information, thanks for sharing it. For a point of reference, I let my Versa sit up to a month sometimes and have never had any battery drain issues. It always starts right up, with starter operation sounding normal, not slow.

    • @John-b6o4h
      @John-b6o4h 27 дней назад

      @@youtoobe169 Yes, I believe you. That is another good thing about the Versa S Manual in that I believe there is very little parasitic draw or phantom drain of the battery when parked. This is of course because of no key less entry, alarm system, etc. sucking power when the car is off. I hate those key fobs with there annoying horn beeping. The computer goes into sleep mode as well. The power port also turns off after a couple of minutes, so I had to hard wire my solar trickle charger directly to the battery. I have noticed that when you open the drivers door it does wake up the computer and the power port energizes at least for a few minutes and I can read battery voltage before starting the car. This reading may be skewed a little lower because of the draw from the computer, therefore not a true resting voltage. I do put my dome light in always off position to eliminate that draw. Probably the only way to get a true reading would be to pop the hood the night before and put a volt meter directly on the battery first thing in the morning. (without the trickle charger hooked up) Even though your car starts right up, I would guess that if you test the your voltage it would show around 12.4 or lower. This probably does not matter in the short run, but could be the difference in a battery lasting 3 years as opposed to maybe 6 years. Also it is hard on an alternator when recharging a somewhat depleted battery. Better to top off with an external battery charger or maintain with trickle charging. I know you have made great videos about other investigative topics ( gas mileage, cabin air filtration, etc) Perhaps you could do one on this smart alternator topic. (Nissan calls it variable voltage control ) Most of the other videos I've watched were about the Nissan Titan or Ford trucks. ( I think Ford calls it Battery Management Control) There aren't a lot of folks that know about smart alternators, including my local Auto Zone and Nissan dealer service writer.
      Oh, and one more thing on another topic. For those who are sick of seeing those 3 back seat belt warning lights that stay on for a few minutes at start up, just buckle all three with no one in them and that will permanently shut those off. Same with the passenger seat.

    • @youtoobe169
      @youtoobe169  27 дней назад

      @@John-b6o4h I will look into making a video about the smart alternator, that's all very interesting info. I do occasionally have rear passengers, but it's good to know.

    Just for future information. All new cars have the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. The fuel pump needs fuel in the tank to keep the fuel pump cool and operational at proper temperatures! Running your newer vehicle down to empty quite often is just asking for the fuel pump to have a shorter service life! So, I would fill up at half tank most of the time. Things I hate about my car
    1. There is a noticeable click/Thump sound every time when I take my foot off the accelerator and press the brake, it happens mostly when I'm coming close to a stop from a higher speed and the brake pedal is depressed. It might be the spring/clips on the brake caliper but the most common issue on several newer and older Nissan models indicates a lack of lubrication between both front axle splines and the wheel hub assemblies or an improperly torqued wheel hub nut.
    2. All the car doors lock when you reach around 10mph but only the driver door unlocks when you park and finish your trip so if you are carrying passengers you must always remember to press the unlock button to unlock all the doors otherwise they feel trapped lol. This cannot be changed since there is no setting to change for it. Also the unlock doors button is not illuminated.
    3. Parking Sensor can be iffy at times, I've only gotten one false stop when I was backing in and there was a car 4 inches away on the side. Sometimes the shade can throw it off as well. The emergency stop feature sounds like a gear grind so I was worried the first time it happened.

      That one is direct injected. Direct injected engines can be prone to carbon buildup in the long run. If I were to get a direct injected engine car. I would opt for a Toyota since they use an additional port injector and synchronize it with the Direct injector to avoid this issue.

    I wonder if the fuel pump struggles for your car when you have the fuel that low?

    • @youtoobe169

      I don't think the fuel pump struggles per-se. I think it just can't find any fuel due to poorly designed baffles or something.

      @abraham3981 I agree. This car reminds me of my 2018 elantra. It's a base model and has a manual transmission, 6sp. I have 149k on it, and it's been a very good car. I noticed just recently if cold I'll get rev hang for a minute or two...then it's gone.

    I’m planning on ordering a 2025 versa manual when they start offering it. Would you say the center console is worth it? I’m thinking yes but wanted to know your thoughts on it. It sounds like you were about to say more about it but based on the fact you went through the effort swapping it out of your 2020 model to put it into your 2021 model it would seem you did find it important. But then you didn’t keep it for your 23 model so maybe it’s not really needed. Thoughts?
    Thanks for all the info on the versa!

      @@youtoobe169 I was looking at a 2024 completely base no options one about 4 months ago at my local dealership. It literally had zero options not even floor mats. They also wanted a grand above MSRP at $18k so I had to think about it. Just my luck they sold it 2 days after I looked at it.
      Anyway, the sales guy said he couldn’t find any inventory with a manual transmission and I would have to wait until the 2025 model year is released and I could order one with whatever factory options I wanted.
