I love where I come from and will always look back at our history and great city. My grandparents would have been around in those days living their lives before I was born and just looking back at these photos it makes me very sad. Half of all this is gone now to be replaced with a car park or trees... I myself would have loved to have been around in those days I miss my grandparents more now because this was their life and all I can do is watch this video. Rip nan and grandad I miss you very much I wish you could have seen this xx
Just discovered your then and now videos. Strewth, those bring back some memories of a child of 1945. I love then and now pictures which remind me of times which will never come again. Thanks
I don't know if it's just me, but the streets looked much better back then. There were more houses and cleaner looking streets. I live in fir vale, and recognise most of the streets im this video, and prefer the as they were before.
adeelhussain9 It dosnt take much to be better than fir vale as it is now tbh It must piss you off what has happened to that place over the last 40 years even though you might not have been there long I dunno, I'm not slagging you off for living there it's just a shame what has happened to so many once decent places around Sheffield.
Think I'm going to get out and take some pics soon for the coming generations. It's supposed to be a nice day today (8/5/18). Thanking the creator of this vid, the photographer/s and those who preserved the photographs.
They messed it up. Architecture was art with function now it’s just functional, boring and bland. The victorians where masters of architecture beautiful design. And then came the 60s disgusting boxes and high rise flats. 🤮
I was here first Couldn't agree with you more. Victorian Architecture brought buildings to life. Even the smallest intricate designs were a master class, with character and charm.
I wonder how many families gave up their old house so they could move into government "free" housing then...a great plan to take back the land for future development.
The one that 3:07 doesn't look so bad... I can't tell if any houses are still there and if they just have a lot of greenery now or if they're all torn down . What else is happening with this town... does it have a lot of muslims ?
Looked awful in the past amd polluted black. Thank goodness its better now. Ignore the old farts, they just want to be stuck in their old time period forever and not modernise.

I noticed how houses went and office blocks and carparks built over.
I used to work in the Big Tree pub in Woodseats in the late 70's. It had loads of character .. fights weren't infrequent !
Everything had character before, the cobbles, the lights, the buildings and it was all replaced with blandness. Well done, 70's planners, well done!
It's amazing to see all the houses that were demolished
Was thinking the same!
You will never see so many British cars anywhere ever again. I think there's only Morgan left!
Mosque minaret in the background in the after photo at the beginning puts a downer on this straight away!

Do it and share them as I do.
If we don't, then the past gets lost.
cgisarecrap I have some drone fottage. I will upload it in the coming weeks
Wow - I am looking forward to seeing it.
Love it. Appreciate the quick morphing. Good space music..Sounds like Steve Roach. What a shame they painted over the antique pale ale sign !! (0:17).
Most my family was born on attercliffe.it's completely disappeared
0:27 I live next to that mosque
Not got a clue what’s where in Sheffield-But I love vids like these 👍🏼
Brilliant

i personally think there is a balance. i like both.
before was better in my opinion
Amjed Aj What's your opinion based on?
Way better!
Before the rats
Same as
@@Jay-ru3mu who are the rats
I had my first ever flat on Martin Street ( Albion Block ) in 1987.
I wonder how many families gave up their old house so they could move into government "free" housing then...a great plan to take back the land for future development.
The old streets look better. All they do today is removing and making deserts.

מרחובות מלאי חן חמימות ותמימות - נהפכו הרבה רחובות לרחובות מנוקרים מודרניים וקרים. עצוב. אבל חלקן גם יפים. [זו עיר באנגליה?] מקסים בכל זאת!
All the streets ,roads etc from back then had life and character, all modern day pics look utterly bland
I’m just looking at my last name here
