I was there , in fact, I was one of the first in at 5.30. I borrowed a trowel from a spectator to cut myself a nice flat place, next to the old stand , little did I know what was to come . I've been in Odsal when there was 60,000 70,000 and 80,000 and I estimate the true crowd that evening was 115,000 .

My grandad went to this game he told me thousands upon thousands of people were climbing over the fencing, easly the highest attendance of any code of rugby in the world just ashame no one got an exact number, so much for health and safety!

If there was ever a reason not to tout our premier events around the country but acknowledge the fact that the closer to the support the better the crowds then this is it.

Amazing to see how respectful people were not even rushing onto the pitch or anything.

Went with my Uncle Tom, who was 6ft 4in, so he saw most of the match.
Sadly I was somewhat shorter, at age 16, so my abiding memory unfortunately was of a constant backward march as the cinders slid forward.
Nearly lost my footing many times, so it was lucky he was so tall. Wish I'd seem more!

That Warrington team had two of the greatest ever Australian players in it: Harry Bath and Brian Bevan. What a team.

I was there and the crowd was way more than 102,000. Odsal really was a primitive ground.

My dad played in this game. He always said they were well over 100,000 spectators and thousands more who couldn't get in to see the game outside the ground.

In the dying minutes of the game Daniels scored a try for Halifax which Griffiths would have converted to give Halifax the victory. Unfortunately the ref was too slow to get near enough to see the score and the Warrington players cunningly turned Daniels over. I was perfectly positioned next to my portable radio to see it all. I'm still smarting from the injustice and have never set foot in Warrington and never will

My late Dad was there in the crowd. Left with a broken wristwatch (could have been much worse!) : )

Still the biggest ever gathering of rugby league folk for a game irrespective of the Sydney Olympic stadium crowds. 120,000 a given.
