This dude has slowly grown on me.. These videos of his keep popping up on my feed, and I like this guy more with every one. What a funny/cool dude, I’d fish with this guy any time.
Aliex, another great vid--thank you. Do you think this boat is as good or better than the Hobie Compass or are they apples and oranges--can't compare the two?
I REALLY like this kayak...I've watched probably over a 100 youtube vids in the past week trying to figure out what kayak I want. I think this may be it. I LOVE that I have the option to set it up for paddle, pedal or motor drive. I also like the fact that the front storage area doesn't use a hatch. Anything I don't want to get wet will be in a dry box or dry pouch. Everything else on my kayak is going to be water-friendly and I want easy access to it, I don't want to have to fiddle with a lid.
Hey thanks for this ... I am sold even without going out in the water so kinda rolling the dice thanks to you ! Just put my order in for this Galaxy color ! One long month wait.
Alex, I looked through your videos but didn’t find anything yet. Do you have any reviews on the HooDoo Tempest 120P? Do you know anything about this kayak or it’s company? Not many reviews out there to help me make a decision. Thanks.
I noticed on the Vibe footpegs and rails, that it has sharp edges that hurt your feet, and also the side handles are very aggressive lettering that tore up the plastic on my paddle and hurts when you rub your hand across it.
Very interested in this yak when gen 2 comes out. Don’t have much experience with the brand. Aliex, what would you say about the quality of this brand?
Don’t like the transducer mount to much. I’ve had several issues with mine but the customer service was amazing. I fish rivers a lot too and lakes but it doesn’t go real shallow in the river. I wish the seat was a little higher up. I feel like it’s pretty slow on the water. It’s a great kayak though I’m just having a hard time since they released the shearwater. Those where the two I debated on getting kinda wish I would’ve waited for the shearwater. I’m mostly concerned about the stability compared to the big fish 108. The 108 stability is insane.
Alex, thank you for reviewing these kayaks. I'm torn...I like all of the features of the Shearwater, and I'm about 250lbs, so I think it will fit me, but I really want to buy American (the Lighning Strike). What are your thoughts about the two? Evenly matched? Thank you. Bill.
I really wanted this model for my first kayak. It was sold out and I had to settle for a Vibe Sea Ghost 110. It's a nice kayak but this would have been much nicer.
Good review. Surprised they did not have a special deal that includes the Bixpy already set up like Viking Kayaks. I think the Bixpy/Pedal combination on this Yak will be very popular.
Awesome video hopefully by next year vibe will work out any issues with the first gen models and make something that can compete with hobie , jackson and native.
Long day on the water you could take your drives out and drop a duece all incognito. Have they updated this kayak at all since this came out, they raised the price alot. Getting close enough to the Old Town 120.
Looks pretty good, love the platform, like the bow (bottom), don't know how easy it is to change seat positions on the water?? don't like the cheap bungies, don't like the bow (upper), -can sombody design a bow hatch that actually diverts water AWAY from the inside of the boat please... Didn't really talk about the drives, how to reverse?...do they 'kick up' ?... like the stern, but need better retention system(s).
Alex, Thank you for your videos. I am #244 lbs and 60 years old and pretty close to Matt's 250 lbs. Do you think the 2019 Hobie Outback or the 2020 Hobie Compass is best for me? Please advise. I cannot afford the Old Town Sportman $4,800+ with lithium battery price tag.
2020 outback if you want hobie, I would not get the compass, less capacity not as nice as the outback, another option non hobie is the 120 Sportsman pdl by Old Town. Also the shearwater 125 with a hobie MD drive... $2300 or so not bad!
Aliex Folgueira , I only asked because I grew up down the road from there. We use to paddle out to Chicken Key and camp back in the day. The area looked familiar. Thx
Just transform and customize either the pod or box and install an min Kota autopilot trolling motor with spot lock feature, and it would be a whole lot cheaper than the one that old town wants to charge you for one.
@@chromaticvisionstudio5489 still not the same, 90% of kayak anglers don't wanna deal with the hassle of making it work they just wanted to work, people pay to have their grass cut....
Aliex Folgueira ok well 90% of Americans can’t be shelling out 4000 dollars on a plastic vessel at the moment just for their own hobby, and The other ten percent of people cut their own lawn. You can’t justify that price tag with me Alex. the kayak industry has been going crazy with the markup on their own products and have been since 2018. In the end it’s still a plastic kayak no matter what they try to accomplish, or implement their own features. if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
Whatever bonafide and nativd come out with will surpass this shearwater. However that price will not be friendly one. I'm sure it'll surpass the price of a titan 12 and 13
I have $1800 burning a hole in my pocket. Please do a complete teardown of the beat kayak at that price range. You have reviewed the top 3 (Shearwater, BigFish 108, Lightning) if you could only buy be one. Also, have you seen the new ascend 133x? Designed to be the ultimate motor vessel. Comparable to the Jonny bass 100 and pelican catch pwr 100. Please!!! Great stuff!
Ummm I wish I could do these vids right now 😀 my on shearwater is yet to come, I may pass by bass pro check out the 133...i say this I'm leaning towards the shearwater 125 here
@@AliexFolgueira The reason I mentioned the Ascend 133x is because I was thinking of purchasing that one $1000 and then throwing a minnkota Ipilot trolling motor on it, instead of big fish 108/Shearwater125/Oldtown Ipilot. That ascend is perfect for motor add-on. And just as stable as BigFish and that open deck. 👍👍👍👍
@@bigfnogre Thanks. So does that mean there is not a motor pod? Or is there one to use with other motors? Are there brackets to use with other motors? 20 questions over.
Walt Edwards so no vibe doesn’t have a dedicated motor pod. But people are using the hobie cassette mounted motors in the drive pod for bixpy and watersnake
skoobydew what’s up brother, how ar you doing??? i would not worry much about that man, the whole country was shut down, Vibe is a great company they care about their customers and dealers, the owner even drove down to bring kayaks to future vibe owners. Great review of the Vibe Shearwater 125 Ali! Was looking forward to this review. Thanks

jsut got shearwater 125. cant wait to drop her in the water this weekend!!!awesome review
Congratulations!! Did you catch my flipping video ?? Epic stuff
I asked Vibe and they said the drive pod would fit the Hobie V1, V2, and 180 drives.
nice!!!
that drive hole really makes me wanna use it like a portable summertime ice fishing hole. lol
Hello in that little box does the pedal kit fit? How does the package come?
Alex,
Could you do the shearwater 125 and catch 130 HDII comparison video?
Eventually I may do it

I would go with lightning it just like a hobie
Im debating between this vibe shearwater, hobie pa 12, or native slayer max, what would you go with? I’m in Indiana and do mostly lake fishing
Well if money is not an issue pa12 wins, I do prefer propel drive for open water no grass

Would the mirage 180 drive fit in this kayak as well? Wondering cause I ordered one but didn't think about reverse because you do have a paddle
yup it will
@@AliexFolgueira is it an all around better drive? Like easier to pedal and faster or is it just the features like reverse that make it better

I had an Outback for 11 years and it kicks butt ... but I just bought one of these
I took the Passport 12 out and it was VERY nice and 1/2 the price ... go demo the boats is best

See what I did there 😜 icast walk-through 😀
Wait , should I buy the boat first 😂and then buy the pedal pod or buy both at the same time ?
