I came across this review while researching portable short-throw projectors for exclusive use with AtmosFX digital decorations. The one that comes with their kit is the M1+ which led me to look for better options without breaking my budget. Looks like the M2e will be the one I'll go with. Great video!
I bought it and let me tell you few things.. This projector runs android 6.0, it has 1Gb RAM, and the aptoide store is useless. While you can install external apps, none all of them will work as expected. Netflix is not included, the RUclips app included, which is not the original one, crashes randomly. Install kodi? You can, it crashes too, impossible to use it. Well, what about connecting a laptop or external media centre, it works, from time to time, the projector firmware becomes unresponsive, so no volume, no focus, nothing. When it works, it is great, when it is not working, which is the majority of the time, it is extremely annoying. They really need to rethink the hw specs and/or make a major improvement on the firmware.
@@lukamanojlovic9599 I didn't even try it, I highly doubt it. you probably need to burn out a USB port to power a raspberry pi attached with velcro to the projector and from it take an HDMI cable to the HDMI port. XGMI is planning to lunch new projectors, they seem to have better SW? I didn't check them yet
Do you think this is a particularly quiet projector as regards fan noise? I am choosing between this and the LGPF50KS. The LG lacks keystone correction though so ill only be able to use it head on.
Great review. Looks suitable for me. Any higher and it would probably be too bright for my application. I don't think I like the OS on it. Doesn't seem to be a proper play store and also I can't find the RAM in the specs. Any HDMI-CEC setting and can you make it go straight to the HDMI input, or is interacting with the OS unavoidable?
I had a Viewsonic M1 for a while and it was a great little projector, but one thing it fell down on was that blue tones looked... weird. Like they were super oversaturated compared to any other colours. Does this do the same?
Hi there, I also have the M1 and i decided to replace it with the M2e. The M1 project a bigger picture than the M2e at the same distance from the wall but the quality of image is better in M2e. I'm not a pro of this kind of things and if someone car share the perfect setting to get the best color image, i will be happy to take it :). You can adjust the color in the settings menu.
Can you test auto keystone correction on your M2e while the projection mode is set to front ceiling mode and tell me if it gives you any problems? Mine just makes a clicking noise and never adjusts the image shape
Ohh! But you forgot "ANSI LUMENS"! It has Tra-trattera!: 4 ANSI LUMENS, one ANSI LUMENS les than its predecessor, that has 5 ANSI LUMENS. Usually it means that you cannot get a "Big Picture", because the light is not powerfull enough to show it.
Quick Question. Does this newer model resolve the issue of jitter/shudder/choppiness of the footage the M2 had when applying even the smallest amount of keystone correction?
Great review, thank you. Can you control the sound settings, e.g. switching between different sound modes like cinema, music etc. or use the equalizer when using wired or bluetooth headphones? Not even the customer service at viewsonic knew the answer to this straight way, it seems like such an obvious feature for such a proctor, however, i am about to return my LG hd pf50ka that lacks this option. Thank you so much. 🙏
Thank you for this review, just a couple of questions. 1. Does this have the same permanent frame interpolation/motion smoothing issue as the previous model, the M2? I read that users weren't able to turn this option off on the previous model, and that it made every film/video look like it was filmed at 60fps. 2. Also, is there any noticeable lag between audio and video when watching movies or videos on this device? Thank you
Awsome review and you received a thumb 👍 up. Quick question I've always used LCD projectors. Does M2e suffer from the rainbow effect and is it a single DLP chip.
Does the Viewsonic M2e auto horizontal, and vertical keystone features work properly when the projector stand is set to lift the front to the highest, so that it projects on the ceiling? I understand you can use the manual 4 corner adjustments, but makes screen motion appear laggy.
Hi there, In the documentation, they said there is an automatic horizontal Keystone but in reality it's manual, only vertical is automatic. I'm using it at 30° of my bed and i use the 4 coins ajustment for the best results. I haven't seen any slow motion so far.
@@bsahmoune, can you test auto keystone correction on your M2e while the projection mode is set to front ceiling mode and tell me if it gives you any problems? Mine just makes a clicking noise and never adjusts the image shape
This projector gets the job done pretty well. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

I returned my unit, I had enough, no more patience.
So Netflix and youtube dont work at all directly from the projector?

M2e the best way of success in music concert 💪
Any idea on how this looks if you just projected it onto a white wall? I am thinking of taking it on travel for work in a hotel room.
Hi there, I bought it 2 month ago and i use it onto a white wall and i'm happy with the quality.
If it was your money, what projector would you pick over this projector? Great video and thank you
I cannot change my focus even though i tried to press or hold it but the image just blurry. How can I fix it?
How far would the projector need to be placed away from the screen to achieve a 100” picture
9.5 ft

Can it be connected to the iPad pro?
Any comparison vs the Viewsonic M1+ ?
wat kind of portable projector needs a power bank to stay on??

How many ansi lumens ?
400
What's the true ANSI lumens?
i believe it’s around 400 ansi lumens and the previous model the m2 was around 500
Does it support 3D
Did you find out?

Viewsonic M2 firmware v0.57 fixed the permanent frame interpolation issue, at least for Movie mode, where it can be set to Off, Low, Medium, or High.
