    Can we use zu der schule?

      Hi,
      Yes you can 🙂 zur is just a combination of zu + der and both versions are correct. It also happens for example with bei+dem = beim; zu+dem = zum; an+das = ans etc.

    How can we differentiate the genders of non living entities?

      Unfortunately, most of the time, you have to learn them as you learn new nouns 😬 But the good news is, there are some rules you can follow! For example, nouns ending in -keit or -heit are always feminine, days of the week all masculine, nouns in -chen always neuter, ... etc. Check out some of our other resources to find out more! 😊
