As a carpenter, I can vouch for this guy. well done video. one thing I could suggest is that if you're planning to put rain screen on right after house wrap, one only needs to put enough fasteners on the house wrap to hold it in place. The rain screen fastens the wrap better than anything. Saves on penetrations too.
Sure wish I was starting my career from the beginning. RUclips is a wealth of resources. I spent 30 working years learning as I went.

Great video, covers everything I needed - except one "tiny" detail. I am doing a faux board-and-batten style using ACX plywood and then battens. Would I use furring vertical wood furring strips or vertical Cor-a-vent? Keep making these videos and a big thank you!

Great video man and thanks for the information! On my house, the original owner was going to brick the whole house but ran out of money. So now the front is bricked, with the remaining sides being brick underpinning, and the underpinning sticks out 4 1/2 inches from the siding. Can I do a rain-screen that’s 2 inches thick to make the siding blend better with the underpinning or would there be a problem with such a wide gap?

I would love to know what kinds of metal screen you / others would most recommend using, especially anyone who's experienced using them, for the bug screen. Pros/cons of different kinds/styles would be so great to know! I'm needing to decide soon which kind to use.

Question: At the bottom of the house where you have the coravent cut to fit between the 2" PT straps could you instead run the coravent along the house and install the 2" straps to the top of the coravent? Also are you nailing your siding with short nails just into the 2" straps or longer nails to reach the studs? Thank You! and again Great Videos!

Hey Brian, quick question. Do you have any opinion on the hubor zip system as a replacement for tyvek? Adding to that they have a liquid flash product that replaces tyvek tape (although they do have tape as well)? My wife and I love your videos. We just purchased a 30 foot iron eagle last week. I can't wait to get started/lose some hair.
I haven’t really worked with zip system. Seems like kind of a cool product I think I would consider it if I could afford it and it wasn’t heavier than the plywood I use.
I like zip system because that Tyvek can be a nuisance to install correctly in the wind. You just have to remember to set your siding nails just below flush and caulk those holes.
Where I'm at Huber can't even direct me to a Zip system dealer within 100 miles...
Why should you put a staple every 16 inches All you need to tackle it in the place until you put rainscreens,

Any thoughts or issues with Grace Vycor Plus? Looking for a reliable flashing tape, would love acrylic (3M 8067 or Zip) but not sure if the higher price is worth it.

Question: why did you not tape the sides of the corner gaskets?
I asked the same question but the manufacturer says not to do it that way

Not really, I actually did what you’re visualizing on the other window I just didn’t feel comfortable installing a product against the manufactures instructions on video
You are teaching folks to flash windows incorrectly. Dude reverse lapped the window install. Use the same logic as shingling a roof with flashing hierarchy folks.
What do you see wrong here? The only thing not shingled is the corner flashes and that’s specifically according to the manufacturers instructions for those. Not how I would do that but if I’m giving a demo video I have to teach to the installation instructions for whatever product I’m using. This also affects the warranty on the windows.
@@actuallytiny2537 I've always seen house wrap cut in an x inside the window opening and the flaps are folded inside and stapled to the interior. Then the only taping you do before the window goes in is at the corners.
No ..those glasses don t help when the plastic is so hard it will bounce off the ground come from under and hit you in the eye ball scared my eyeball. Just a bad design. Can't believe they can sell the nails .
