I started my own soap business several years ago. Then within months I got pregnant and put it on the back burner. Only recently I’ve started it as my main career. I started following you in January, and I adore watching your creations.
I really like how you do the very things you’re told never too do. The soap is lovely and I’m just going to go for my first go at soaping. I’ve built a soaping kit but not the nerve to go for it. Thank you!
Very pretty. I just made some silicone molds and want to do one clear with the same colors and some shaved white pieces inside. Then decorate with flowers made of flour and liquid soap dough. I really am enjoying doing a few at a time.
Here I am in the UK not even 2 hours into 11th of Feb & I think "wow, a time-travelling soap maker, cool" & then I remember where he lives, excellent soap, by the way, worked out really well!
Thank you Dean for that test. I always wondered myself if you could mix two melt and pour bases from different manufacturers. Now i know you can and i love that swirl you did. I am definitely going to try that myself. You are a inspiration and i love how you always push the boundaries. Love it.
Monica Schultz I make layers and swirls.... different brands and bases (ex: clear glycerin and goats milk). I’ve been making M&P for a few years and I’ve never experienced a problem.
“I’m the soap maker, so I make up the soap rules.” For the win, Dean, 😂! What was the temp of the others after you re-microwaved them? And look at that swirl top! Oh. Wait! You poured more, and still great! And, geez! Such a pretty swirl in these bars! 😍
So LOVE your videos Dean! That backround music is the best, theres some pretty cringey backround music on some soap makers vids. Keep up the great work mate!
I use Nitrile gloves the same gloves that Tattooists and people that pierce body parts and they are good value at 100 pieces but a little thicker than the regular disposable gloves.
That looks awesome Dean.....Unfortunately I can’t use fragrance and colour in my soaps any more. Luckily I’ve found 2 bases which suit my skin. Aloe Vera (for my face) and Goats Milk (for the shower)... I get both from Aussie Soap Supplies and there are no ‘nasties’ in them either!!! Ali from WA...
Brilliant video. Thank you for sharing. I have recently started making soaps with melt & pour. I’ve just been throwing anything in at any time and seeing what happens ! When I use a 1k block of melt & pour how much fragrance oil should I be putting in ? How much essential oil should I put in please and finally at what temp should I be pouring two together (one base and one colour). Any tips would be appreciated and in the mean time I will continue to watch your videos 😀👍👏 x
I use 2% fragrance oils.. If you need to find out 1000 grams (1kg) / 100 * 2 = 20 grams. So 20 grams = 2%. Not sure about essential oils, i dont use them. Pouring for a swirl should be under 130F (54.4c)
Dean Wilson thank you very much I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. One more question ... can I use candle fragrance in my soaps or are you using a special one that’s for both ? Many thanks again 😀 x
Beautiful soap. Your video is so clear and inviting. I do wonder if the sprinkles you used are going to be safe for the skin? My computer volume went out so I didn't hear what you said about it. Thank you.
Hi Dean! I just ran into your channel and I'm LOVING it already. I do have a question though. When doing this technique and mixing bases, do you HAVE to use a suspending base with it? Or could you use something like a coconut milk (for the white/solid) and honey (or other clear) ? I work with detergent free M&P soap bases and LOVE to mix the different types, but I haven't tried the swirl technique. I have subscribed and can't wait to see what more you have!! Thanks so much for the inspiration!!
I have always wondered if the glitter dissolves when you use the soap or does it stay on skin and in soap dish. Love love love your videos. So relaxing to watch. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. :)
I have always found if I don't use too much glitter its ok, Its when you starting adding more then 1 gram per 1kg that you might notice some glitter on your skin, but most of the time it will just wash off.
@@DeanWilson I have asked "my people" if they would like glitter on their soaps. Their reply..."DONT YOU DARE"!!! I think I will make me a bar with a little glitter and see what I think. It is pretty!! Thank you, Dean
So it is possible to mix bases yes? Also I have a question if I wanted to make a separate 2 tone like a white and cream I should do them separately right?
Hi Dean, Can I ask where you are based and where do you get your soap supplies from. I live in nth Qld and make soap for the relatives. Your soaps are so gorgeous.
This soap was from 2 supplies. Extra clear was from www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au and the suspending base was from www.candlesupply.com.au/melt-and-pour-soap-base-crystal-suspending.html
Thank you, Dean, Your video is very useful as usual. I have a few questions: The liquid color of brand you used is not bleeding? Your melted soap bases not get hardened for long time. Can you please share your secret?
I dont think there is a secret, expect keep stirring so it remains liquid, once you start to see soap stay on the stirring stick then your know the base is getting thicker. Not sure about the brand, aussiecandlesupplies have it in their soap section. www.aussiecandlesupplies.com.au/collections/personal-care-liquids
Hi Dean hope you are doing well. I have a doubt. I made goat milk soap and used but had no lather. Is this the nature of goat milk soap? Kindly explain and advice remedy if any
@@DeanWilson then the problem may be with goat milk base? Further is the problem with essential oil that controls lather? I added 30ml per kg soap. Kindly explain
I microwave in 30 second bursts. It took about 2-3 minutes to get to 140F. But I do not suggest just doing 2-3 minutes because it can burn the soap. 30 second, stir, 30 seconds stir etc. Until melted.
Question : ( Pretty sure I know, but my son who is just starting to help me, asked, and there might be others that wonder )... Since yellow and green make blue, he asked how did you get the soap to stay green , yellow and white .
I am hoping because the base was under 130F degree and therefor was not merge either each other. If they did it was alight and maybe make a pale green color. i dont see any blue in the soap.
Hi dean, Really loved all your designs. Can’t wait to try them. Do you wait for the layers to set before you put more soap to add on swirls or do you just keep on pouring. If I remember correctly you started to start pouring at 122-123F. Right?
Yes, its tricky to get swirls with some bases. Pour low into the mold. If you pour high it will mix more. I found I have about a 30 second window to pour. Maybe try suspending base? I have some great swirls with that base.
Glad to see you back with melt and pour! You're the King of Melt and Pour hands down!
Thanks Jennifer. :)
I agree!

Just do a little at a time. I am starting out, but with the melt and pour for now.
I’ve mixed bases as long as I’ve been soaping and never ever had trouble....love the colors ❤️
Thanks Sara :)
You are an honest guy. You say everything truthfully. The base sticks to the utensil but i dont waste it. I use it as shreds in other soaps
I did not know you were not supposed to do this.. lol. I've been doing it since I started because its whatever I can get my hands on.
Loving the greens and how the soap turned out Dean! Have a wonderful bless evening!💕🙏👍💚
I haven't made soap before. I am still doing my research. I love your soap. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
Absolutely gorgeous. My swirls never come out this beautiful.

Awesome. Really good cutting skills. Can tell you been doing this for long. Great job
Thanks. yeah, started back in Jan 2004 (6.5 years)
The soap turned out great! I loved watching you create this.
Wow, I love the colors and it swirled nicely! Great job Dean, I like it!
Remarkable idea of how to deal with melt and pour soap , beautiful 💫✨
This is beautiful soap! Im so glad you shared you experiment and that it worked!
You make it look so easy!! Those swirls are so lovely! 💞
Your freehand cuts are amazing! If I do that my cuts are wonky as hell. Nice job! Love your channel.

Love the colour combination. Gonna try this with a lime fragrance
Go for it!

Your need to check with the supplier. You need skin friendly fragrances for soap.
I am going to give this one a try:) Thanks for the inspiration Dean. Kim ;)
You are so welcome!
I thought the microwave was a big drum roll... i was waiting for something exciting! Lol!
Hi Dean, I did melt and pour soap. After unmolded,I found that there are many bubbles inside the soap.even I used rubbing alcohol
If you tap the container on the table lightly the bubbles will rise to the top. Then spray RA to pop them. Continue this until clear.
@@DeanWilson oh is there no limitation to RA ?
All good, just use as needed.
@@DeanWilson k dean thank u very much.

Hi can you answer a question for a novice soap maker. Do you have to use a suspending soap base to be able to do swirls? Loving the experiments.
No, I have done swirls with goats milk soap base. Check out this video
ruclips.net/video/cC_QnrTDCuQ/видео.html
I love it awesome
This is so nice!
So it is possible to mix bases yes? Also I have a question if I wanted to make a separate 2 tone like a white and cream I should do them separately right?
I have only mixed Clear base and goats milk base. If your making 2 tones, then yes, make them separately.

Was the goats milk soap from the supplier or did you add the goats milk to the base?
@@DeanWilson Dean I added goat milk base to the soap.
Not im sure then. If you have added 1 soap base to another soap base it should be fine. For me goats milk always lathers well.
@@DeanWilson then the problem may be with goat milk base? Further is the problem with essential oil that controls lather? I added 30ml per kg soap. Kindly explain
Basil essential oil
Do you think I could achieve something like this without the suspending base? Like just a clear base?
Yes, but you have to wait for the exact time when the soap goes from liquid to goo. I suggest lots of testing when using news bases.
For that amount of clear base, his long does it take in the microwave to melt it? Do you do it in stages! Thanks much!
I microwave in 30 second bursts. It took about 2-3 minutes to get to 140F. But I do not suggest just doing 2-3 minutes because it can burn the soap. 30 second, stir, 30 seconds stir etc. Until melted.
Can you make soap frosting with melt and pour?
I have tried to follow recipes but at yet I have not been able to do this.
I love this bar of soap. Have you tried using goat milk and clear base from different suppliers?
Yes, I have tried a number of suppliers, this is the best one I have found.

yellow and green make blue. there is no blue in his soap
yellow and blue make green is what I meant to say. Not the other way around.
Wow 🤩
the soap is good for body or face?
both. yes
Dean can we add salt and sweet in melt and pour process?
I dont think so, nope. I wouldn't anyway.
Hi dean, Really loved all your designs. Can’t wait to try them. Do you wait for the layers to set before you put more soap to add on swirls or do you just keep on pouring. If I remember correctly you started to start pouring at 122-123F. Right?
For this design I just keep pouring.
Dean Wilson thank you so much for the reply.
This looks very Sprite
Is it possible to use 70% of rubbing alcohol if l can't find 91%?
Yes, I use 65% so 70% is fine.
I keep on getting a skin very fast..which doesn’t allow me to be quite creative with swirls...wht is going wrong?
Yes, its tricky to get swirls with some bases. Pour low into the mold. If you pour high it will mix more. I found I have about a 30 second window to pour. Maybe try suspending base? I have some great swirls with that base.
Dean Wilson Thank you so much Dean...will definitely try the suspending base?
What’s a suspension base soap?
suspending base from Stephenson
Does it serve a certain purpose? And your soap is beautiful
Its ment to suspend anything you add into it, like poppy seeds etc. So I thought it would be perfect for swirls.
Dean Wilson got it thank you
Love this!! Sub! ❤️
Thanks so much.
give it rasta colors lol
