My absolute favorite anime of all time. The show was something I didn't know I desperately needed in my early 20s, and now I feel like I owe my new sense of purpose and outlook on life to my time with it
Started Shogun Assassination last night. I’ve never seen anything like Gintama, and for that very reason, I think it’s certainly one of the most special and bestest anime I’ve gotten into
@@eleynmariparis it was truly peak. Glad the hype was well worth it. Shed a few tears too 😭 now I’m on Farewell Shinsengumi. Last thing I saw was Katsura telling Kondo so that could team up 👍
I also want to point out the statement at 17:11 is SO true. Gintama took me about 6 months to finish, it was one of the best 6 months of my life and by the time it ended, I wish there was more.
U were still pretty fast. It took me multiple years, not because it drags but because its so easy to take a break for a few months and get back into it where one left of. After 5 years of gintama experience I'm finally in the final arc of my first rewatch (and started a second with a pal ;)
Gintama saved my life. I started watching Gintama in my early 20's after getting into subbed anime because Bleach was 200+ episodes ahead of the Dub and I was not waiting for that 🤣 The subbers left in commercials where the Bleach and Gintama back to back hour was airing in Japan and got me to check it out. I enjoyed the dry and extremely Japanese humor of the show as well as the characters but it wasn't my favorite at the time by any means. At 22 everything kinda fell apart in my life I lost my only parent, my father while at the time all I had known was being a caregiver to him for years and ended up homeless within a month. My friends from childhood had all become drug addicts or stolen something and disappeared (Reno sucks) and I was falling apart. The only thing making me laugh and making me not feel alone were those characters I downloaded everything that was out onto my phone and did my best everyday. And then Gintoki as a character and to possibly an even greater extent Madao started to teach me life lessons Giving me strength to face and overcome my pains and unfair situation in life. They helped me learn to forgive people, fight for what I have and people who matter to me, not blame the world and everyone in it for my life. By its final moments in Gintama The Final I was crying and laughing so much because I had never felt so much and learned so much from anyone or anything and it was over. It gave me the strength to survive and my smile back. It's one of the few reasons I'm still around 🍻
It's Atsuro Watabe, not Sorachi. His face never published even once. The most we ever got is when the author of WITCH WATCH, Kenta Shinohara (Sorachi's former assistant) once get drunk together in a pub/bar, then Kenta takes a photographs of Sorachi, but without his face revealed, and uploaded it to Twitter. Japanese fans really surprised at that time, knowing what Sorachi's looks like. Couple days later, the tweet got deleted, and Kenta-san apologize for uploading that. Yes, Sorachi takes his privacy seriously.
I have never re-watched a show as much as I have Gintama, and I still discover new things about it. Often it's character-based, consistencies in the character I never noticed on my previous watches. And they are all built up so well through jokes and big and small moments of seriousness. I genuinely love them all and what they add to the show which is rare for me who tends to hyperfocus on one character and any other character is just there to allow my favorite character to interact with people. And Gintoki is such a good MC. In almost every arc you get a slightly new/deeper look into Gintoki as a character, and it's done so well while keeping the mystery of Gintoki intact. Even by the last episode; when his eyes aren't as dead as they were at the start, and we know his sensei and comrades and their motivations and personalities very well. Yet Gintoki still manages to have this air of mystery about him even after almost 400 episodes of getting to know his personality and motivations. I adore the main trio, and I love how their dynamic works. I could write an essay about it. There is just so much to Gintama who has amazing and fun characters to elevate any genre the plot takes. Be it comedy or drama. I have never ever laughed so much at anything before Gintama, and after having finished Gintama, you will see the whole show in a new light when you re-watch it.
Gintama to me is the King of Comedy, very closely followed by Konosuba and Saiki, but I always have to analyse the guy im talking to before i recommend it since many jokes are japanese-centric (Shout out to the translators who write a paragraph in the subs to explain the joke, its basically 50% of all my knowledge of japanese culture lol) P.S: Any Character voiced by Takehito Koyasu (Takasugi, Dio, Aokiji etc) is automatically Hype, and Takasugi did not disappoint
I think konosuba and saiki k have very different styles of comedy, idk why you put them toghether I though saiki k was very funny, konosuba on the other hand only made me stare at the screen devoid of joy
Broooo, the Gintoki vs Takasugi fight, with the backstory being unfolded as they beat the shit out of each other, HAD ME BAWLING MY EYES OUT back when I first watched it!! Something this uniquely well done cannot be anything less than a masterpiece istg!
When you realize Takasugi never for a second hated Gintoki, but rather himself and he only wanted him to kill him because he cannot bear to do it himself. He realized what Gintoki had did and he was the most upset at himself for his weakness that made him do such a thing. He just cannot live with the fact his weakness ruined his best friend and made him bear the most brutal fate possible for a man thats why he lashes out meaninglessly, he doesn't care even if Bakufu lives or dies...or whatever the hell happens to the world anymore. Its just so painful to live bearing that level of regret but nowhere to vent...when you understand that his "I want to destroy the world" isn't some edgy line, but his silent cry for help because he has nowhere to go, nothing to do, nothing to vent...just plain suffering that does not know what to do with which made him bitter. He might come off as some sort of sociopath, but he still has that little light in him like Gintoki left. Like Gintoki, he was also left helpless...bitter...broken. Yet another person who no one actually talks about who also suffered the same was Katsura who was delegated to be a running gag with zura puns, but you see what his appearance looks like and then you understand what he had been trying to embody his whole life. He didn't go full extreme like Takasugi nor utterly broken like Gintoki, he was stuck in middle of somewhere...holding onto the bits and pieces of his greatest time silently, he himself said that "Looking at Gintoki still struggling to live, makes my struggles looks easy in comparison". Despite being a gag most of the time, he has been taking the ordeal much better than most and in his own ways trying to change the world...he never asked for help, never cried, never stopped moving unlike both of them. Donald Zuramph for president For real...!!!!
This story will always be in my heart. Gintama is one of my favorite shonen that I will always watch with tears or a smile on my face, depending on the arc of the situation. And it just even exceeds your expectations and does something that not every anime can provide you while watching. But overall, everything is great in this anime: the characters, the fights, the soundtrack, everything is simply done to make the viewer love Gintama. And Gintama succeeds in doing this 100%. Shogunn Assassination arc is still my top 3 favorite arcs in anime!
Plus it really does have a little of everything, good comedy and then suddenly some of the best fight scenes in all of anime and then heartfelt drama and so on.
What makes it so special to me is that it's one of the rare examples of an anime that used its medium to elevate it above the original manga (which is still a classic don't get me wrong). It actually used the things unique to an anime (sound design, production, colour, movement etc.) to parody and make the anime a true adaptation in its own right
@@nanashi7779 Right, like you wouldn't get something like gintama in any other medium. The ms paint anime op, the sleep paralysis, slowing degrading to key frames, failing your own opening.
@@apgauniyal1219 just watch the way it was released bro. Gintama (2006) 201 episodes) First two episodes are filler, you can skip it but I'd recommend watching cause it gives a better idea about what the show's gonna be than episode 3. Movie 1: it's a remake of episode 57-61(first serious arc of Gintama) personally suggest watching the original instead of the movie because it has spoilers and you're used to old animation anyways. Gintama' (2011) 51 episodes Gintama' enchosen (2013) 13 episodes Movie 2: technically filler, the anime was supposed to end here so they made like a new story to give a farewell to the show. You could assume it to be a canon arc, won't be a problem. The movie did really well and the manga was also "ending" so they decided to continue the Gintama anime. Gintama° (2015) 51 episodes Gintama Love potion ova Gintama. (2017) 12 episodes Gintama porori hen (2017) 13 episodes This adapts all the skipped comedy chapters, as they thought they could end gintama's story in the 51 episodes of Gintama° so they had skipped some comedy chapters, but the story kept continuing in the manga. Technically you it should be before episode 300 but I'd suggest not to since it has some spoilers. Gintama shirogane no tamashi hen (2018) Again the anime was supposed to end here but the manga continued (they'll give you the full explanation in the last episode of the anime). Gintama semi finals (2021) This is the only part of Gintama where it's better to read the manga cause they skipped some dialogues in the anime but I'd still suggest to watch the anime first since the comedy hits better in anime. Movie 3: Gintama the final. If you're still confused just start Gintama 2006, as you watch it you'll get an idea yourself as to what to watch next.
I gave up on Gintama 4x, never reaching beyond ep 5. Then I felt shounen fatigue from the big 3 and other popular/mainstream anime at the time. I just wanted a chill, turn-off-brain watch that MIGHT make me laugh; not worrying about plot armors, power scaling, etc. So I returned to Gintama & finally made it to Ep 8: Kondo's 1st appearance...the butt-afro joke, chief of police turns into a stalker, strong/not shallow female characters, & Gin not being your typical main character; he cheats instead of establishing power dominance? SOLD. My biggest 180 that I did not expect emotionally is Nobunobu. How the eff can he be redeemed? How can gorilla convince me, who loves Sho-chan, who's still traumatized, to ever feel something for this m-effer Nobunobu. While, it didn't fully make me love him, yeah...I felt it. I still feel the twinge in my heart when I see the the "I Wanne Be" opening version where Sho-chan & Nobunobu share tea. Gintoki would always be my favorite mc. Unlike the protagonists of other series of his contemporaries, or even present ones... Gin has lost EVERYTHING by his own choices. He chose to go to war, convincing his friends & classmates to join him. Only 3 of them survived, and Gin had chose to give up the very reason they went to war for. Them 3 couldn't look at each other without guilt & blame, so they were divided & went off on different paths. Gin copes with covering his suicidal tendencies with humor, alcohol, gambling, and never committing to anything ever again (until he meets Otose)...while still trying to be a good person as his master wanted. Oh and that he has to do it all over again; risking all his newfound friends to fight in a war, killing (an aspect of) his master again, but now, also has to kill his best friend who he just reunited with. It would be like if Naruto chose to let Nagato live without the plot armor of being able to resurrect the souls of Konoha. Naruto has to live with that choice forever and accept the hate & the blame of the survivors. Tanjiro comes close, but what if he had to kill Nezuko himself, but still hold on and try to be a good person?
Oooooh look a Gintama video. After I watched 200 series, I decided to tackle Gintama. Thought I’d only watch the first season then call it. Little did I know, I would be watching my favorite all time anime and one of the best pieces of media I have consumed. The comedy centered show with the inserted serious arcs is brilliant and becomes more intense as you go on. A lovable and hilarious cast that is also some of the best anime has to offer. I got a little nostalgic watching this. Ahhhh. I think my anime experience peaked with Gintama and I’m okay with that. Great video!
I could watch videos about people discussing Gintama all day! There's a ton of anime that people love, but it seems like the love for Gintama is unanimous. I've never met anyone who's watched through Gintama & came away saying "eh, it was alight..." No, it instantly shoots up near the top of their favorite anime of all time. Oh, and "Samurai Heart" is one of the best EDs ever, especially after you get the context of the scenes from the arc!
One thing i saw in a comment of a gintama vid of how gintoki tootache to dessert also makes him a great character and a gambling addict Sweetness mainly this is gonna be one of the few times he ever feels sweet in his life due to his past Pachinko having a feeling to finally at win life I might overanalyzed that but i find it amazing
@@imsentinelprime9279👆this I did watch more than 100 ep when i was teen,i was became boring with overuse same joke.just like boomer joke no wonder why manga got cancelled
I'm so glad that you gave Gintama a chance. I remember I left a comment on your early Gintama vid, hoping you tried the anime instead of the manga cause yeah, for Gintama, the anime's better. Such a great review, though I'm surprised you didn't mention the Shinshengumi/Yorozuya farewell scene in the vid. But yeah, I have to go with you, Gintama is one of a kind. I laughed a lot, and cried a lot.
Some of my laughs and morale boost during my darker years in high school were because of this anime. the comedy was often ridiculous, but it got me laughing until the more serious parts hit you like a punch in the gut. One moment I'm cackling at toilet jokes, and then I'm maybe vaguely contemplating about dogs, or how to live honorably, unrequited love, or familial ties the next. The whiplash is wild, even at a time span of a single episode. The longest but rewarding slow burn for me, and I love slow burns done right so inevitably, this became one of my top tiers for anime of all time.
It's incredible how the series that started with a bunch of dick jokes ends up being one of the most emotional shows ever made. Especially the dynamic between Gintoki, Takasugi and Shoyo/Utsuro is like the best thing ever. The layers and layers you can peel off from every interaction they have and their different philosophies, it's really incredible writing.
After rewatching and rereading this work that I came across in summer 2016, I will say it from now on. 2006/2007 it was Naruto, 2015 it was Berserk and then Vagabond in 2023, but this year and in the end, Gintama became my favorite manga for the rest of my life.
Watch at a faster pace 😮 I had to pause the screen to read the subtitles and the upper subtitles that explained the jokes to westerners hahaha. Totally worth it tho, the Japanese VA cast is top tier!! They make Gintama my favorite anime 🫶 the Gintama live action is peak comedy
Watching at 1.25 hurt my soul, but otherwise- I’m glad you enjoyed the series so much! It’s my favorite finished anime. I’d LOVE to heard videos on the characters and other elements in further detail. This was a great listen
Still my all-time fav anime Idk if the "soul" of gintama can ever be replicated. Even by sorachi himself I dropped it twice when I was watching it at first (I was younger then, too) Then I just sat down and watched it all through and similarly to our Masked Man here, I owed it an apology. By almost 150 episodes in it was already in my top 10 as my fav comedy anime about 250 episodes in and it's already in my top 3 fav anime all the way through and it's in #1 and it's not even close. Every other anime I watched since then competing for 2nd place cuz nothing's come close since Gintama.
Am I dreaming, a Gintama video?! I rewatch reviews of it so often because there are too few of them, and I love hearing people talk about my number one favourite anime, Thanks for making this!!!
@@MarioLopez-rn2bs Bro trust me Gintama will have you laughing and crying all within the same episode. It's truly an anime with a soul. *Edit - It gets better and better as you go
My boy finally did it. Gintama is favorite anime and I could write an entire essay about its greatness. This was an awesome video and I'm looking forward hearing you talk about the series more! Also shoutout to Matsudaira, the police director, who is the funniest old man character in all of anime.
Watching Gintama in the 2000s was a great experience. That was the time when sub groups would put "footnotes" in the subs, explaining the cultural humor, that actually required you to pause and read. Something was lost when that stopped being a thing. Also it was the time of Karaoke subs in openings! :D
Yo man I don’t know if you will ever see this but maybe like 5 years ago I was one of your biggest fans and im pretty sure you even had a discord server that I was in. I’m super happy to see how much you have grown bro seriously. Those old lives you used to do are very nostalgic.
Gintama is still my favorite anime of all time. The quote from episode 5 saved my life when I watched it back in 2008. Back then literally no one talked about Gintama, so I love seeing it take off. It's also such an incredibly good depiction of how trauma responses are different per person. Katsura went insane after Shoyo-sensei's death, Gintoki shut down, Takasugi became violent. Which is literally informed by all of their gags! It's why Katsura gets more unhinged with each death in the serioua arcs. IT'S SO FREAKING GOOD! 😭😭😭 Gintama had 0 plotholes, which just shows how good Sorachi is as not just a mangaka, but author. The fact that he essentially made it up as he went along is astonishing! Long story short: Great video! Love Gintama and your content. Keep it up!❤
Hey, i kid you not, i've been rewatching Gintama and checked on your older videos about it A FEW DAYS AGO. I open RUclips and see you posting about Gintama, i couldn't believe my eyes, lol. Super glad you finally made it through this fantastic anime and amazing video
I love the backstory of each characters. Especially Gintoki, on how and what happened to his past always makes me wondering at that time. Then when we talked about the sad arc/episodes of Gintama, it never kept me failed to cry....
"It would stick with you for life" - YEP 🙋♀️ ME. When I finally got the chance to binge it, I was sucked in, so much so, the series felt like family to me. That's why it felt like saying goodbye to fanily when it ended.
You don't choose to watch gintama, gintama chooses you. People who can't get into it will not enjoy it all throughout and for those who choose to continue it's life changing.
Me at 15: This anime sucks, I want to see fights, transformations, explosions and bouncing boobs. Me at 30: Gintoki has to pay rent and woke up with a hangover on a Saturday, god, this anime is too personal.
the videos i see about gintama is way back from 2020-21 seeing that pp still talk about the best anime of all times made me happy o7 (gintama is my fav anime)
I literally started the series 2 weeks ago and it gave me lots off laughs and I love the characters personality and tropes they do and I now put this as my favorite gag manga😂❤😂
Cool, most people stop halfway because they binge watch the show just to get to the serious arc. The comedy in the earlier ep is ok but if you already like it then u r gonna have a good time
I started this anime sometime in October or November 2022, watch up to like episode 25 or so, stopped for a few months, got back to it and stopped after the Benizakura arc, and picked it back up earlier this year in like June. I finished it on October 7, funny enough, 3 days before Gintoki's birthday 😂 When I finished it, I was crying happy and sad tears. One of the best anime I have ever watched, and I'm soooooo glad I pushed thru those early episodes. Now, I'm trying to put people on, but it's such a hard anime to pitch 😂
Great video Mask ✌️ I'd love to see your insights and thoughts on the dynamic between Gintoki and Takasugi as well as Gintoki and Utsuro Waiting for a video on that 💚🙌
it's always appreciated seeing someone preaching some good gintama propaganda but for real, this series is incredibly underestimated. you get into it expecting comedy, and discover it's actually a very nuanced meta commentary on shounen manga as a genre. gintoki is, at the end of the day, a failed main character, one that 10 yrs before was fighting tooth and nail for a goal, but lost his final battle and now has to live with the consequences. the entire plot is just a depressed man realizing he's worthy of second chances and it gives you so much hope that your life is worth living even just for the small joys and your loved ones
02:14 - That's not Gorilla-Sensei; that's just some regular handsome guy. I'm disappointed in you for making such a critical mistake in a factual video.
Yes, that's not Sorachi. It's Atsuro Watabe, a japanese actor. I want to clear this misunderstanding, because I love just how mysterious Sorachi is to me ;)
As someone who has been slowly making their way through the anime, this video has helped me want to stick with watching it. I got through the first 20 episodes at a decent pace within the first few weeks. But since then I've been watching maybe an episode a week. The anime is quite slow, which is making me lose some interest. I may watch it at a faster speed and see if that is any better. I really want to love Gintama, but right now I only kind of like it. Currently on episode 38.
The way I did it was I watched individual episodes once a day and I binged arcs. If the arc was more than 5 episodes I split them into 3-5 episode chunks. I used an episode guide so I knew when episodes would be connected. Took me about 10 or so months
Dont binge watch, the show should be watched at a slow pace, if you rush trhough the slow ep just to get to the serious arcs, u r going to miss a lot of underlying hints thrown during the slow episodes. U r going to bunge the show when u r getting at the serious arcs anyway so just enjoy the slice of life style of the show for now after all the later part of the show will be less and less funny and just straight serious arcs back to back. The slower eps are not fillers, dont get misunderstand. They are worldbuilding episode which also portrayed the casts personalities which is going to be more impactful.
@TheMaskedMan at 2:19 that is not Hideaki Sorachi. That is Atsuro Watabe, an actor. Also courtesan of a nation and the four devas arc are peak storytelling of any medium. Fight me.
Gintama the greatest anime of all time and my favourite characters and MC ever 🔥I could go on for hours about this show and how it excels as a character drama better than anything I've seen before in anime
if you asked me, i think shinpachi is easily the most underrated character in the show. like yeah he seems lackluster but his job as a straight man is done flawlessly. hes the perfect straight man
the entire Gintoki v/s Takasugi in the SA arc deserves a video of it's own. It's a motherfucking masterpiece. Oh and the Utsuro reveal...hm yes the layers of emotions displayed in matter of 45ish seconds? yeah, you can feel it into your bones
I feel you 100% Even the haters would appreciate this masterpiece. The problem is they don't give a chance and leave it after some comedic epis. Thank you for GORILLA sensei photo. As for music... you must be a MASIVE Bintendo Owee fan! Zelda and Bowser gave me chillings, Thank u again. 🌂🕶💯
i feel you man, it hit me hard too i watched all eps of season 1 and enjoyed every episode i didnt even know there was action this anime but this anime i was simply watching cuz i was out of good anime became my best man, like i ish could remove my memory i feel so nostalgic man.
Cool, thanks for this. I had been considering watching it, but 300+ episodes was intimidating. This is a good recommendation and lets me know what to expect at the start. I dropped off when you gave the spoiler alert but I will be checking this out, and maybe come back to this later.
In a world that struggles to do comedy now I love re-watching Gintama. I'm currently at the Kyubei family mini-arc. That toilet paper segment just does not fail to make me laugh. Such a highly under-rated show of many layers. There's something for everyone.
the only anime that made me sad, cry, terrified shitless, and laugh in a span of 15seconds from that one episode lmao. tho mostly it makes you sad, and laugh in most episodes it also made me love voice actors more. now i cant hear zura, gintoki, and hijikata's voice in other anime, without thinking of their gintama characters lmao
hope viz will restart and release from vol 1 to vol 71 with an English release cause I'm still choosing whether I watch it first or read it first but it's in my big backlog of manga to read but I'll prob read it first.
as a non American citizen, if some film/movie production or cartoon or anime is being reject from America, then i know that thing is actually more good than America cartoon or movie
One of my favorites and i definitely go back to the shogun assassination arc from time to time it is so good. The fight with Gintoki and Takasugi is one of my favorite fights because neither one of them even attempts a defense. They both immediately go for the kill shot and the other takes advantage of the opening to unleash their own kill shot. Its Brutal, its very personal, and both are giving everything having fought both alongside and against each other for so long. I'd also recommend people not skip the early episodes because they allude to a lot of whats coming. For so long they hint at Gintoki being a powerful swordsman, but he doesn't display anything and often gets beat until the first real arc around episode 50. Then you see the level of proficiency he unleashes during later arcs. They often allude to how influential alien technology is and future villains abuse it. Just such a good series front to back. Also its a great background show as so many episodes are one off comedies that you don't have to worry about missing anything.
Gintama is a masterclass no whoch ways about it. Its "underated" in that its suprising how few people have seen such a trully awe inspiring show. It is probobly the best anime id ever seen, with its handling of different topics, genres, and storytelling that always captures you and never dissapoints. I only wish more people could experience this masterpiece.
I'd say watch the first 13 episodes, then decide if you want to skip to episodes 50+ or not. Ep 13 is the first brush with the harusame and the first time i really cried at a Touching Gintama Moment
Can't put into words how Amazing Gintama is for me. Cheered me up a lot whenever I was down, lots of times got me laughing so hard. And it managed to balance the funny and the feels. Great Vid!
Good job on the music part. I really like the Legend of Zelda skyward music. Also, I'm glad you gave Gintama the chance it deserves. Easily one of , if not the best anime
First ever anime to make me shed a tear and ever since then i knew it had a place in my heart. I'm glad you liked it and i hope most would push through especially in the early part cause it it a masterpiece.

After Gintoki saves the world from destruction he became famous and met with international stars just like ill smith and President Donald Zuramp. but his old nemesis Takasugi ruined his moments, Takasugi is the leader of "Kiheitai" a Joui extremist faction and a wanted fugitive.Takasugi a self proclaimed rich boy with daddy issues who hates gintoki so much because gintoki didn't appreciate his legendary drink yakult.

My absolute favorite anime of all time. The show was something I didn't know I desperately needed in my early 20s, and now I feel like I owe my new sense of purpose and outlook on life to my time with it
This anime carried me through my time at university, the entire time xD
Takasugi and gintoki are some of my fav characters of all time.

Hello can you tell me in which order are you watching it, I am very confused about the watch order and want to get into the show.
There will be, in fact, more. An anime adaptation of the light novel spinoff is airing next October.
yes me too
Same, watched it over a year, haven't even watched the final movie yet.
Gintama saved my life.
I started watching Gintama in my early 20's after getting into subbed anime because Bleach was 200+ episodes ahead of the Dub and I was not waiting for that 🤣
The subbers left in commercials where the Bleach and Gintama back to back hour was airing in Japan and got me to check it out.
I enjoyed the dry and extremely Japanese humor of the show as well as the characters but it wasn't my favorite at the time by any means.
At 22 everything kinda fell apart in my life
I lost my only parent, my father while at the time all I had known was being a caregiver to him for years and ended up homeless within a month.
My friends from childhood had all become drug addicts or stolen something and disappeared (Reno sucks) and I was falling apart.
The only thing making me laugh and making me not feel alone were those characters
I downloaded everything that was out onto my phone and did my best everyday.
And then Gintoki as a character and to possibly an even greater extent Madao started to teach me life lessons
Giving me strength to face and overcome my pains and unfair situation in life.
They helped me learn to forgive people, fight for what I have and people who matter to me, not blame the world and everyone in it for my life.
By its final moments in Gintama The Final
I was crying and laughing so much because I had never felt so much and learned so much from anyone or anything and it was over.
It gave me the strength to survive and my smile back.
It's one of the few reasons I'm still around 🍻
Seeing Sorachi Hideaki face at 2:19 is so weird to me, cause im so used to see gorilla instead😂😂
What are you talking about? That was just a random japanese man, not the gorilla we know lol
That gave me a whiplash, like wth.
I think you mixed them up. 2:19 was the gorilla and the other one is Sorachi 😂
@@lisastfield453 Well in that case, we can still imagine him as a gorilla then
it is the slowest burner i've ever watch but later it will become the best tv show u will remember forever
Shogun Assassination + Farewell Shisengumi is peak fiction
Beard fiction
Gintama to me is the King of Comedy, very closely followed by Konosuba and Saiki, but I always have to analyse the guy im talking to before i recommend it since many jokes are japanese-centric (Shout out to the translators who write a paragraph in the subs to explain the joke, its basically 50% of all my knowledge of japanese culture lol)
P.S: Any Character voiced by Takehito Koyasu (Takasugi, Dio, Aokiji etc) is automatically Hype, and Takasugi did not disappoint
Him screaming "GINTOKIIIIIII" during their fight remains rent free in my head.
Slam dunk is the best anime/manga in comedy genre imo. Gintama can be funny, but the jokes can get excessive.
@@finn6770 slam dunk is a comedy show? I never knew that, makes me wanna watch it.
@@Rei-xg9fs it's both sports and comedy with some delinquent elements to it.

We got the Gintama vid before GTA 6 🙏.
Gintama is one of the best anime ever for me. No one has ever cooked like them.
@@Rei-xg9fs pls tell watch order, I am very confused on how to watch gintama
@@apgauniyal1219 just watch the way it was released bro.
Gintama (2006) 201 episodes) First two episodes are filler, you can skip it but I'd recommend watching cause it gives a better idea about what the show's gonna be than episode 3.
Movie 1: it's a remake of episode 57-61(first serious arc of Gintama) personally suggest watching the original instead of the movie because it has spoilers and you're used to old animation anyways.
Gintama' (2011) 51 episodes
Gintama' enchosen (2013) 13 episodes
Movie 2: technically filler, the anime was supposed to end here so they made like a new story to give a farewell to the show. You could assume it to be a canon arc, won't be a problem.
The movie did really well and the manga was also "ending" so they decided to continue the Gintama anime.
Gintama° (2015) 51 episodes
Gintama Love potion ova
Gintama. (2017) 12 episodes
Gintama porori hen (2017) 13 episodes
This adapts all the skipped comedy chapters, as they thought they could end gintama's story in the 51 episodes of Gintama° so they had skipped some comedy chapters, but the story kept continuing in the manga. Technically you it should be before episode 300 but I'd suggest not to since it has some spoilers.
Gintama shirogane no tamashi hen (2018)
Again the anime was supposed to end here but the manga continued (they'll give you the full explanation in the last episode of the anime).
17:21 The Most Relatable part for everyone who finished watching Gintama and LOVES IT no matter what!

Gintama still has one of the best endings to an anime out there
Great video💯

Was not expecting a Masked Man Gintama review today but so happy that you gave it another shot and loved it as much as you clearly do
Great video Mask ✌️
I'd love to see your insights and thoughts on the dynamic between Gintoki and Takasugi as well as Gintoki and Utsuro
Waiting for a video on that 💚🙌
it's always appreciated seeing someone preaching some good gintama propaganda
but for real, this series is incredibly underestimated. you get into it expecting comedy, and discover it's actually a very nuanced meta commentary on shounen manga as a genre. gintoki is, at the end of the day, a failed main character, one that 10 yrs before was fighting tooth and nail for a goal, but lost his final battle and now has to live with the consequences.
the entire plot is just a depressed man realizing he's worthy of second chances and it gives you so much hope that your life is worth living even just for the small joys and your loved ones
I did honestly not think that you would give Gintama another shot but I'm happy you pushed through.
02:14 - That's not Gorilla-Sensei; that's just some regular handsome guy. I'm disappointed in you for making such a critical mistake in a factual video.
Yes, that's not Sorachi. It's Atsuro Watabe, a japanese actor. I want to clear this misunderstanding, because I love just how mysterious Sorachi is to me ;)
Holy shit peak
Fight me.

17:19 Is literally the gintama experience
Cool, thanks for this. I had been considering watching it, but 300+ episodes was intimidating. This is a good recommendation and lets me know what to expect at the start. I dropped off when you gave the spoiler alert but I will be checking this out, and maybe come back to this later.
'Gintama' is my absolute fav anime. The humor, character development, comedy are just peak
2.18 that's really not hideaki sorachi though, should've changed it gorilla pic instead 🦍
In a world that struggles to do comedy now I love re-watching Gintama. I'm currently at the Kyubei family mini-arc. That toilet paper segment just does not fail to make me laugh.
Such a highly under-rated show of many layers. There's something for everyone.
Rodeo Carburettor's speed of flow is the best anime ending of all time 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥✨✨
the only anime that made me sad, cry, terrified shitless, and laugh in a span of 15seconds from that one episode lmao. tho mostly it makes you sad, and laugh in most episodes
it also made me love voice actors more. now i cant hear zura, gintoki, and hijikata's voice in other anime, without thinking of their gintama characters lmao
And they say it is all just a parody show. Jerry still jumpscared me tho and when will madao bloom?
Damn, didn't expect you to cover my favourite anime! Nice!
hope viz will restart and release from vol 1 to vol 71 with an English release cause I'm still choosing whether I watch it first or read it first but it's in my big backlog of manga to read but I'll prob read it first.
Gintama also has top to bottom, my favorite collection of opening and ending themes out of any anime I’ve ever seen. Too many bangers to mention
omg thank you for talking about this show :')
Zura janai, Katsura da !
as a non American citizen, if some film/movie production or cartoon or anime is being reject from America, then i know that thing is actually more good than America cartoon or movie
Finally a good Video about Gintama, its such an underrated show outside of japan thank you for this wonderful vid bro
Dropped it once, then restarted it, and it became one of my top 2 favorite animes. Never had a show make me laugh, get hype, or cry in one episode
Great Vid!
gooning to this rn
Man i couldn't remember your channel name🥺 i found you today😫😫😫 after so longgggggg!!!! Thank you GODDDDDDDD
As a fan that rewatched it for 6 times during quarantine i can vouch its peak
Good job on the music part. I really like the Legend of Zelda skyward music. Also, I'm glad you gave Gintama the chance it deserves. Easily one of , if not the best anime
First ever anime to make me shed a tear and ever since then i knew it had a place in my heart. I'm glad you liked it and i hope most would push through especially in the early part cause it it a masterpiece.
