The kitchen is beautiful. The veined marble and fluted tiles are stunning. I like the sink and faucet and cabinet hardware a lot. Glad you kept the old cabinets. They look new now.👍
I didn't know that either. I knew you had to seal it every six months, but I'm assuming this cover takes away that need? Unless it needs replaced that often, in which case I'd have to research which is better if I *ever* have marble or granite counter tops. Granite also needs sealed as it is also porous. I think that was granite, it might've been quartz, but I'm pretty sure the con to quartz mentioned in the video I watched was that it's not heat-resistant because of the resin(spelling) used in it. Though, also, same on the thoughts. They called it a small kitchen and I thought, "Wtf? That kitchen is huge, what you talking about? You wanna see a small kitchen, come visit me in the apartment I just moved into. It's like, a third of that in size, maybe." Ain't no way two people are even standing in my kitchen at the same time. I kinda wish I didn't have a dishwasher and had more storage there instead, but eh. I just don't use the dishwasher. I don't make enough, or even have enough, dishes to warrant it.
Our apartment kitchen is so small...my husband tells everyone that we have a two bedroom, two bath, half kitchen apartment. Love how you pulled all that together in your renewed kitchen!

My opinion- not ordering enough marble for the backsplash was a good thing! You had a chance to show off your design chops, your kitchen doesn't look as overly-busy as it might have, and it won't age out of the trend as quickly.

What a great idea. You backsplash and island renovation to match is a nice idea from the marble. It does add something for sure. I have a kitchen 4 x 6 walking area in a rental, no not much time spent in there.

Two years ago, I put bamboo fluting on the bottom of my kitchen bar, like you did with the tile on your island. It looks fab and glad to know it wasn’t just me who likes this look. (I am in Hawaii, so it will look good here for a long time.) Love your kitchen and how you worked with what you already have. I think most people have a budget, and so need to design this way. We just redid our bathroom floors and sink/cabinet- huge impact from only two changes.
Since you asked, 😂, we have a very small kitchen in our Michigan condo. I can spread my arms and touch the cabinets on either side. It’s tiny. No room for a dishwasher, that’s for sure. My wonderful husband remodeled it and we use every inch of space. I don’t like lots of things on my counters either, so most everything gets put in cabinets. Lucky us, we are building a home in AZ, and I am devouring your ideas. Thanks so much. I also have the knife drawer. Love it.

I’m crushing on your faucet! My countertop already had the access holes drilled, so l had to choose a faucet that would fit. Since I couldn’t find a piece of functional art like yours, I got a Touch/Touchless faucet instead, and now I can’t imagine ever not having this feature. Your kitchen is beautiful!

Hello Alvin, oh gosh I’ve been watching too many overseas you tubers!! In Australia we say “splash back”! Ive heard back splash so often that I now never know what to say and it annoys my builder son soo much!! Your additions to the kitchen have made it unique and special - WITHOUT being incredibly wasteful! I think that is even more impressive than ripping the whole thing out. The only popular stone counter tops that are pretty much maintenance free are quartz.

Two years ago, I put bamboo fluting on the bottom of my kitchen bar, like you did with the tile on your island. It looks fab and glad to know it wasn’t just me who likes this look. (I am in Hawaii, so it will look good here for a long time.) Love your kitchen and how you worked with what you already have. I think most people have a budget, and so need to design this way. We just redid our bathroom floors and sink/cabinet- huge impact from only two changes.

We have a tiny galley kitchen. It's gorgeous (after we did a fun facelift to remove 1970s foil wallpaper, etc) and I love it. Enjoy your new space!!

Since you asked, 😂, we have a very small kitchen in our Michigan condo. I can spread my arms and touch the cabinets on either side. It’s tiny. No room for a dishwasher, that’s for sure. My wonderful husband remodeled it and we use every inch of space. I don’t like lots of things on my counters either, so most everything gets put in cabinets. Lucky us, we are building a home in AZ, and I am devouring your ideas. Thanks so much. I also have the knife drawer. Love it.
The backsplash and counter base are a nice contrast with the marble.

I’m crushing on your faucet! My countertop already had the access holes drilled, so l had to choose a faucet that would fit. Since I couldn’t find a piece of functional art like yours, I got a Touch/Touchless faucet instead, and now I can’t imagine ever not having this feature. Your kitchen is beautiful!

Hello Alvin, oh gosh I’ve been watching too many overseas you tubers!! In Australia we say “splash back”! Ive heard back splash so often that I now never know what to say and it annoys my builder son soo much!! Your additions to the kitchen have made it unique and special - WITHOUT being incredibly wasteful! I think that is even more impressive than ripping the whole thing out.
