- In this video, we take on a task to rebuild a couple of Ratchets for Luke. They were in rough condition, but we brought them back to life. During the process, we learn a good lesson. That sparks a discussion about Tool Abuse. Check out how to avoid Tool Abuse. 🔧🤣❤️
Loved the video. Thanks for the rebuilds on both those rachets. Wont be putting a breaker bar on it again haha. They turrned out great and im happy you put the original plate on the proto.
Glad you liked the rebuilds! It was fun making this video. Thank you for letting us add the "Tool Abuse" portion in it.
Of course. Had to own up to that one! I'm on my second 1/2 breaker bar though. No cheater pipes though probably time to step it up to a 3/4 and have the right tool for the job!
Nice one Luke
Nice job Jesse, Two great Ratches back in use thanks to Jesse's Garage. My first restoration was a Proto a couple years back. it's fun to repair them when there is something really broke on them. Good job.
Thanks! I love bringing those old tools back to life. Appreciate you Dale!
Jesse, I knew right away when i saw the damage to the teeth on the anvil that it was cheated bar damage. Luke you definitely have a couple of beautifully restored ratchets.
You were so right. 😆. I’m really excited how they turned out.
Very enjoyable video!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You did a awesome job on both ratchets. You are awesome awesome person. You have a great RUclips channel!
I’m glad you liked the rebuild. You're awesome, too!
Jesse, just got my sticker today, very much appreciate that, just finished up my small shop in the basement and it is going up today, thanks again!
Awesome, glad you got the sticker! Looking forward to seeing your shop. Email me a pic if that's ok. Thank you for being part of Jesse's Garage!
Awesome video. Like the big T Handle Breaker Bar, very nice!
Thanks, Rob. I really like that thing.
Those look great, especially the one he found on the road 😃
That was a pretty cool find. Glad we could get them back in shape.
Great job on the ratchet rebuilds !
I’m glad you enjoyed the rebuilds. Appreciate you saying that.
Great job on the ratchets.
That must be grandpa Hoss. My hoss is much younger 😂. I bought a Craftsman 3/4”, made in Taiwan, set on sale in the early eighties. I was never a big fan of the round head ratchet so when it started skipping a lot in the nineties I traded it in for the newer version of yours. Still have it all to this day and still use it occasionally.
Great video 👍🏼🇺🇸
🤣 Must be Grandpa Hoss. Look at you go with still having it! Appreciate you watching!
Tool abuse is a serious issue in the United States with 9 out 10 people admitting to abusing thier tool atleast once in their lifetime 😂😅 the ratchets turned out great Jesse. I really like the long handled Proto
🤣🤣🤣. Love this comment. The first step is admitting and learning. The second step is a blast, getting out there and finding the right tools for the job. 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful work
Thanks for checking it out. I really enjoyed getting them back in shape. Appreciate you.
Awesome job! Those look great!
I really enjoyed getting them back in shape!
Congratulations on 600 subscribers great video
Crazy, can you believe it. Thanks Brandon.
Nice job Jesse.
Thank you for watching! I enjoyed making this video.
Nice video Jesse!
I appreciate you checking out the video!
I haven’t made it very far into this video yet but i can already tell you that you’re right about that Proto. The anvil should be on the other side. lol I’ve never seen one switched around like that that’s actually quite interesting that someone did that😂. I have the 1/4” version of that ratchet(4749) and it’s one of my favorite 1/4” ratchets ever made.
I knew it! I don't know why I questioned myself. 🤣. That ¼" is super cool.
Cool video, ratchet rebuilds are fun to work. I run rebuild kits anytime I don't trust what's left of the teeth. I use my red fiber wheel to soft blend flaking chrome. Doesn't fix it but seems to not make it rough edged to catch a finger or hand... have fixed many ratchet like 1/4 that the teeth get blown out from someone over loading it. That is a learning curve for people to take the time to realize and step up to the next size. If half is not bug enough 3/4 drive baby it should do the job.
That is one thing I don't have, a Fiber wheel. I need to get on the ball and order one. You are right, it's a learning curve for sure. Appreciate you!
@checkthistool I just do things one step at a time. I have a few tools I want for bringing tools back to working order but have not gotten then yet. I will someday but use what I have until then..
Nice video. I got my sticker yesterday for my toolbox so thank you for that! It will be the first one on my toolbox setup. However, as a Texans fan, I can't give you any love for the hat lol. J/K. On a different note, can you give some details on the blue mat you're working on?
That is awesome! Glad to hear you got the sticker. It's an honor to be the first one of the box! If you get a chance send a pic. I would love to see that. I knew that hat would get some people riled up. 🤣🤣🤣. Maybe that is why I did it! 🤣. On the mat, I love that thing. It is a silicone mat that cleans real easy. It has groves that help things from sliding around. The brand is Rockler. I do some woodworking and got it from the Rockler woodworking store. Thanks for watching and sharing the news about your sticker.
Great video!! Jesse if you ever need ratchet parts,I have a ton especially for snap on,so feel free to reach out anytime.
I really appreciate that offer! It is super cool to have friends like you. 😀. Appreciate you very much.
@ You’re welcome Sir!
Say no to tool abuse.👍
I love that slogan. ❤️ 🤣 👍. Appreciate you watching and saying "No to Tool Abuse!"
Maint might be short for maintenance. I work in a steel mill and the ratchets we use are all proto and they look similar to that proto. Except the anvil on your is backwards
I think you are right. This is the second suggestion on what it may stand for. Thanks for your feedback.
I know I'm guilty of tool abuse. I have killed a few in my time but most of them were budget style tools I've just been able to buy better tools more recently and you notice a big difference
I think we all start out that way. I know I have done my fair share. 😂😂😂
@ yeah when you're young you don't know any better and when you get older you respect your tools a lot more even the cheap ones
MAINT……like maintenance ❓
Hmm. That could be. Like in, part of the Maintaince Dept. or maybe they were reminding them to maintenance the thing. 🤣
@ I figure lifted from
Probably why it was at the pawnshop where I bought it 20 years ago no doubt.
@
Didn’t mean to imply anything. Probably went the way a lot of stuff has gone victim to the loss of American manufacturing liquidation and dispersal. Sad but enables us to obtain goodies.
It's all good.
