NGL I think if you made a Rylanor proxy model then Forgeworld would have to stop selling EC Dreads. Nobody wants to pay so much for a crappy resin model.

Rylanor gave the middle finger to his own Primarch, got the honor of becoming a Dreadnought, and helped a Thousand Sons Sorcerer redeem himself. Dude is an absolute gigachad and we all love him for that!

@@berilsevvalbekret772 It depends, Contemptor dreadnoughts weren't fun to be in from what I hear but in general dreadnoughts, while not great, weren't a nightmare to be in, and it depends on the legion how much of an honor it's seen as.
I hope that Clonegrim remembers Rylanor and does so with pride.

Considering the fact that the Thousands Sons fall into Chaos due to no fault of their own and were still loyal to the Emperor until they get betrayed (from their view point) by the Space Wolves, it does make sense for them to be influenced by Rylanor's loyalty and dedication to the Emperor, more so when contrasted with what Fulgrim had become. If anything, the TTS might actually have a point in the possibility of the redemption of Magnus and with it, also of his legion.

The best bits of wh40k stories are the small sparks of humanity in some of them. Not enough to take away from grimdark theme but still able to make a big impact in the story.

I didn't get the vibe that the Thousand Sons regretted any of their actions. It seemed liked they identified with Rylanor because they remembered feeling betrayed by the Imperium.
They say that when someone talks about the Legend of Rylanor the listener proceed to listen to Stringstorm Rylanor Last Stand.
I belive with the damage to fulgrims pride it caused a shard of his soul to split off, a shard that would later inhabit a perfect clone.
Having 2 majorkill videos about Rylanor certify him as a legend. Or someone major simp for hard.
Drach'nyen is the psychic echo of the first murder and was able to actually fight the emperor in single combat and win now a Daemon sword that was the emperors before he fought Drach'nyen

I read Rylanor's story while high a few months ago, it was absolutely incredible. The mystery, the build up, the conflict between perfection of the body and perfection of the soul, what the EC are vs what they should've been. Absolute peak sci-fi writing.

Rylanor triggered his assault cannon, but - fast as quicksilver - Fulgrim caught it and crushed it before it could fire.
'No, I don't think so,' said the primarch, effortlessly ripping the arm from the Dreadnought's body. Sparks flew from the ruptured limb and Fulgrim gave the weapon a dismissive glance before tossing it aside.
'You betrayed us,' bellowed Rylanor. 'Your sons! You led us here to die. There is no forgiveness for that. None! You must die by my hand! The Emperor's justice will fall upon you. Not even Fulgrim the Illuminator can escape the Life Eater.'
'You wish me dead?' he said, scathing pity dripping from every syllable. 'Why? Because you think I betrayed you? The Legion? Oh, Rylanor, your thoughts are so narrow. If you could only see us now, how beautiful we have become. We shine so brightly, each of us a brilliant sun.'
Fulgrim reached down, sliding his bare hand inside a rent torn in the Dreadnought's armour. He smiled, closing his eyes and letting his tongue slip across his lips as he pushed deeper inside.
'Ah, there you are!' said Fulgrim, as Rylanor's vox-caster grated in fury. 'Wet and wriggling. I can feel your panic. It's delicious!'
Rylanor's power fist swung around, bathed in fire. It struck Fulgrim on the shoulder, but Akhtar's psychic force was not simply confined to the Life Eater's detonation. Fulgrim laughed off the sluggish attack and one of his lower arms drew a glittering sword of alien origin. The blade a sliced in a cruelly precise arc, cutting through the fibre-bundle motivators and servos.
Rylanor's arm fell limp at his side.
Vistario watched the viral fire spread over the Dreadnought's carapace, slipping inside his buckled plates of armour. Rylanor did not care whether he lived or died, only that Fulgrim went with him.
'Do. Not. Do. This!' barked the Dreadnought.
'Why not? I am your master - I can do whatever I like. I can crush you or I can raise you up. Return to the Legion. Accept the gifts of the Dark Prince, and you will walk at my side, clad once again in flesh. You can be anything, old friend! I will sculpt you into something beautiful - a god to these mortals!'
'Never! All we have left between us is that we will die together!' roared the Dreadnought, the upper portion of his carapace burning with blue flames. 'I am Rylanor of the Emperor's Children, Ancient of Rites, Venerable of the Palatine Host, and proud servant of the Emperor of Mankind, Beloved by all! I reject you now and always!'
Fulgrim laughed and said, 'I'm sorry, did it sound like I was offering you a choice?'
The primarch wrenched his hand from Rylanor's sarcophagus, dragging a sopping mass of fluid and matter with him. Glutinous ropes dripped from his fingers; he was like a midwife holding a mewling newborn. Ruptured cables spilled amniotic fluid so stagnant it must surely have been poisoning Rylanor with every passing second.
'I will remake you, brother,' said Fulgrim. 'You will be my crowning achievement.'
Though his body was little more than rags of wet meat, Vistario sensed Rylanor's horror at the last violation. An inescapable destiny where he would become what he hated most.
+What do we do?+
The question was Murshid's and the connection between the Thousand Sons was so strong that Athanaean's perception for emotion spread to all three of them.
Vistario felt Fulgrim's infinite malice, his cruel enjoyment of Rylanor's anguish and the helplessness of the Thousand Sons. The primarch of the Emperor's Children revelled in his overwhelming pride, a trait Magnus had more than once told Vistario had been present long before his fall.
But more than anything, stronger even than Fulgrim's spite, Vistario felt Rylanor's pride and honour, the unbending core of greatness that had set him against his brothers and had seen him descend into obsessive madness beneath the surface of a dead world.
Vistario took the measure of Fulgrim, seeing nothing worthy in him.
His warriors felt the moment his decision was made.
+Primarch Fulgrim!+ sent Vistario. +Rylanor deserves better than you.+
The primarch looked up, his once bright eyes now black and filled with the darkest poison.
+He deserves better than all of us.+
He raised his bolter and fired a mass-reactive into the back of Akhtar's skull. The Raptora's head exploded and with his death, the psychic force holding back the warhead's detonation ended.
Vistario saw fire.
And once more, all life burned.
To make the most scheming and ruthless of Fallen Astartes see the light of the Emperor again...

I've always hoped that Rylanor's soul was so strong and pure that it has survived the Warp and is waiting to kneel at the foot of the Emperor waiting for Him to call upon the warrior once more.

Since deamons are made of warp energy, basically the coalescence of psychic races emotions, we can assume that Slanesshy daemons are primarily made of pride.
Rylanor might not have killed Fulgrim, but being willing to die just to bitch slap someone could hurt his pride so much that, for someone is made of pride, could be the warp-equivalent of busting it's kneecaps. Dude's gonna slither with a limp forever.
Even his Primarch pp had become ultra-limp!
Man literally did "weaker Burning blade but verbal" on fulgrim.
The lore actually states that this event permanently effected Fulgrim and weakening him PERMANENTLY. This blow to his pride was so effective that Fulgrim has legit been in hiding from the material. He is afraid of being humiliated again.
Rylanor had successfully took away Fulgrim's pride that he can never regain.
Rylanor gave Fulgrim some serious Emotional Damage that no amount of warp infused drugs can ever make go away for even a moment. Rylanor lives rent free in Fulgrim's mind forever after what he pulled.

Both to taunt Fulgrim as he taunts the loyalists, and also to warn the traitors that they will meet with his loyalist brother soon

While a part of me does want a redemption arc Clonegrim vs Snakegrim fight, having the Legion of the Damned have a good go at him would also be sick.
If GW ever brings Clonegrim back to the setting, I think it would be cool to have a flashback that ties in to this story. Revealing that after the Virus bomb was released a piece of Fulgrim’s soul fractured and escaped into the warp. This soul shard would traverse the warp until it eventually inhabits the Fulgrim clone made by Fabius Bile. I think this would really add to the greatness of Rylanor’s last stand. Showing that his act of defiance not only redeemed a traitor astartes, but also saved the soul of his fallen primarch.

Rylanor wasn't even injured to get put in the dred chassis, he just struggled to fight in power armour with such massive balls.

Worth mentioning, Vistario was mentally connected to his men so all of them felt Rylanor's pride and they all decided together to detonate it, including the sorcerer that was stopping the bomb from exploding.

I can't remember where i first heard it, but some Rylanor related video i saw had someone summarize the event as
"Imagine being such a shitty person that your own allies are willing to die just to inconvenience you."

there's a theory he has, a noble contemptor appeared on a battle with remaining Emperor's Children, bellowed something in old gothic and then went to fucking town on them while the oldest of the Children fled in a panic

What I'd love to see is Fulgrim fighting loyalists in a battle somewhere when suddenly a few Legion of the Damned appear led by a Legion of the Damned Dreadnaught. As soon as Fulgrim is within earshot of the Dreadnaught he hears "The Ancient Awaits."
I know it would never happen.
Rylanor deserves to be in the Legion of the Damned. That would be one hell of a comeback!

It is heavily implied that he is.
It would Rob his death of its impact if they did. He made the ultimate sacrifice to kill his monster of a Primarch. Bringing him back as Legion of the Damned would lessen the gravitas of his death.

I listened Rylanor last stand a "milion" times i nearly know It at memorie, all of him Is fantastic, the tragic of his story, the Honor he had till his death and the glory of his victory, the contemptor dreadnought Who humiliated for all eternity his daemon primarch, tell me you all hopes he return as soldier of the legion of the damneds along with Vistario and his crew ( come on they deserved that).
However if Clonegrim ( using strange trans-temporal warp device) Will know of Rylanor last stand and he meet his demon version he Will say: AS RYLANOR BEFORE ME, I REJECT YOU FOR NOW AND FOR ALWAYS!. PS (I Hope that traitor legions could be recreated as loyals)

I have a theory that this encounter and the confrontation with Dorn on top of the Saternine wall did actual damage to Fulgrim leaving him diminished.
How? As an immaterial being Fulgrim is pride and vanity incarnate. In both of these encounters the physical damage was of course meaningless.
What hurt Fulgrim were the blows to his vanity and pride.
Fighting Dorn Fulgrim tried to get him to offer forgiveness so he could turn it down as a validation to his pride. When that failed he mocked Dorn about breaking his wall to preen his own ego and all he got in response was (and I’m paraphrasing) Your a rabid animal with out even the brains to see you’ve been manipulated, fit only to be put down.
Then Rylanor, I have no doubt Fulgrim waited for the Thousand Sons to arrive to bear witness to his magnificence but instead Rylanor stole their respect and loyalty causing them to consider Fulgrim to be less than some slimy thing found under their boot that they would rather die than have to spend another moment with.
Both times Fulgrims core, his pride, vanity, and utter belief that he is the perfect being was shattered and (perhaps) forever weakened thus actually wounding him in a meaningful way.

and dorn just had the sickest burn for his brother.

Rylanor wounding Fulgrim’s pride is a surprisingly massive deal. As a daemon prince Fulgrim is literally made of pride, his physical body will always come back even while forgetting that the dudes regeneration powers are only out done Vulkan and the Emperor. To make Fulgrim feel ashamed of who and what he is is the closest thing you can do to permenant damage that isn’t getting a psychic Kamehameha to the balls by the Emperor, it’s more impactful than the Lion crushing Angrons head like a melon.
If I had to pick a single moment that encapsulates 40k it would Rylanor’s last stand.
Now i want a Legion of the Damned Rylanor
Look up the Legio Damnatorum. It's a LotD diorama, and there's a conspicuous purple contemptor with an assault cannon and a power claw as part of it.

In the lore it is stated that after this event a LotD company appeared and in it was a contemptor with an assault cannon and power claw. It was in LotD colors of course but Dreadnaught LotD is VERY RARE.
Rylanor is also the only Emperor's Children I know, who has a real friendship with an Iron Hand (Vermana Cybus).

I speak in half-truths to not invite alarm

We had learned from Him to hold to truth with every breath"

"Even your words may be twisted and turned into weapons"
There is danger here, with every phrase now it beckons
I know the name of he who has me in his sights
"I am he who remembers, the Ancient of Rites!"
All at once, the pieces come together in my mind
This place was Istvaan III
And we are here upon its corpse
On the grave that was left behind!
"Would you convince yourself I am a remnant seeking saving?
This was not a cry for help!
This was a lure I laid to invite something in need of slaying"
"Was this trap set for me, old one of mine?
You look terrible, a disgrace, even"
"At last, Fulgrim, you have come to me, abomination"

Funny enough there was a similar space marine dreadnought who was found in the aftermath of I5.
His fate is… decidedly less glorious than Rylanors, but he kept a pretty major forge world loyal, convinced a force of Iron Warriors to become loyal again (admittedly the Alpha Legion screwing them made it a lot easier), and uhm… got really into cults.
I feel the Legion of the Damned route is more likely for GW to take, seeing as Rylanor wasn’t on Istvaan V

Feels like this would also be a blow to Slaanesh since one of Slaanesh's qualities is pride. So humiliation and failure with their topmost servant has probably resulted in Slaanesh sulking in their palace for quite a while
I have a feeling that rylanor knew his job wasnt complete and knows it and still lives waiting to mess up the primarch again and that the single thousand son sorcerer is helping rylanor be rebuilt and helping him live with him by his side because he knows the rest of the thousand sons wont help and the impurium wont believe him since he is a thousand sons his story is just cut off to quickly for that to be the end there since the primarch still lives and rylanor made a promise that his once primarch will die by his hand for this betrayal of the legion and emperor
When Rylandor’s final story came out, I was a little disappointed; I kind of wanted him to go off and found a new chapter of his own.
