Grandmaster Lau Kar Yung is the Fifth Generation of Wong Fei Hung Hung Gar Lineage under Lau Cham Branch. Also, Lau Cham is his Grandfather from his mother's side. He grew up in a Kung fu and entertainment family. Kar Yung starts training at age of five with his mother learning traditional Martial Art (Hung Kuen). The rules first started learning Dit Da then train at least a year or two of horse stance.
