General Hung Kuen twelve bridges mean " Twelve Tips: Just, soft, straight, straight, point, fixed, inch, lifting, flow, shipping, making, order; while " twelve bridge techniques " are: wear , sink, points, rack, touch, push, find, grind, hang, hit, lock, chop. 一般洪拳十二橋手乃指「十二訣」：剛、柔、逼、直、分、定、寸、提、流、運、制、訂；而「十二橋手法」則為：穿、沉、分、架、摸、推、尋、磨、掛、撞、鎖、劈。十二橋手訣是十二種心法，以剛為天、柔為地，配合其餘十種建立起洪拳的整體勁道要領；十二橋手法則是十二種橋手用法，講求橋來橋上過、無橋自造橋。故二者一為心法，講究體會；一是手法、主在應用。
十二橋馬： 洪拳十二橋馬是指十二步法，這十二種步法為：四平馬、子午馬、伏虎馬、麒麟馬、吊馬、獨鶴馬、中字馬、三角馬、敗馬、二字鉗羊馬、跳馬、丁字馬。
