    Oh my god the turtle lol. BDO is such a cool game that I come back to every now and then just to try out one of the new classes. The fact that there's a whole new area to start out in is really exciting. Also those bosses look super cool, I'm very interested in trying them out.
    My biggest issue with the game has always been the overwhelming UI, it really is A LOT to take in, and I know you can customize it and make things disappear, but as someone that has only really dabbled in the game, I don't know what I'm missing out on by removing some of those UI elements. Also the whole node system goes way over my head. I know I can just ignore it, but it doesn't feel right to just completely ignore a system like that. It's probably just a me problem.
    Anyways, really cool game, fun to see you covering it and it's awesome that you got sponsored for it! Congrats dude.

      Thank you! Yeah BDO was always the game I wanted to like and the overwhelming systems made it pretty difficult to keep up. I think my experience trying out this expansion was perfect cuz i didn’t have to worry about a lot of things that were flashing at me. I did read up on the node system though and it seems like one of those things that veterans and large guilds get a kick out of while new players have to put it some good time to catch up.

      BDO is a singleplayer game. There is not need and reward for playing it multiplayer, and in fact there is not even enough multiplayer content. Before that expansion there was one instanced dungeon, one summonable boss, and the instanced event of node wars, none of which affects the uninvolved players, ah and several instanced arenas. The rest is enormous amount of singleplayer content. It looks cool, but is not MMO. Also it is not sandbox. Sandbox does not mean freedom of choice. You have freedom of choice in themepark games too. In both you could choose different attractions. The difference is in themepark there are not consequences. Your actions do not affect the game. Sandbox is a game where your choices change the game. In solo RPG - this is building, cutting trees, if they stay cut, killing mobs, if they do not respawn. In MMO sandbox means your actions affect the other players. PvP with loot is a sandbox MMO feature for example. Almost nothing you do in BDO changes the virtual world or affects the other players at persistent way. At last combat. It looks amazing indeed. It is probably the best anime style combat in any game. But like this it is very shallow. Combat is jump, CC, build damage with combo, kite, repeat, repeat and etc. Every class has only one counter skill - some kind of CC, the rest is damage. So you cannot really counter, you cannot use different tactics, it is extremely repeatable. Many skills have counter subelements, but for some reason with high level gear they are completely neglected. So combat is not as great as it looks. PvE is ARPG style, very grindy with very low challenge. Most bosses are solo, even world bosses - there is not need of any cooperation or coordination among the players. So they interact with the boss, but they do not interact with each other - multiplayer gameplay. Crafting is solo. Trade is solo. Hunting is maybe the only kind of somehow multiplayer open world activity in the game. Node wars are instanced event, but winners cannot manage the nodes and the stakes are so low on this high level, the wars become kind of friendly matches. Played since first beta in Korea.
      As for UI - you are missing nothing, I played with clean view, the game looks better, mobs are weak anyway, there is nothing in UI player needs to use constantly.

    I played BDO when it launched way back in the day and the grinding and PvP being the only real endgame eventually turned me off after a month or so. I came back about 2 years ago to see not much had really changed so I completely overlooked this expansion. I will definitely be looking into this again in a few months. More PvE focus and less grind sounds great. I also just want to do the Trader skill again. For some reason it was just fun to produce trade packs and then cart them across the world.

      The PVE focus was what brought me back to try it as well. Its not bad! So far, the game is much better than what I remember it being, which was grinding mobs until you turn off your computer.

    Returning OCD victim here ;). Just started a Maegu last night, got her to 35 in just a couple hours, incredible! Enjoying the MSQ and non-linear side-quests. Only had like 2 fights so far - one with the mini-boss warden who knocks you out anyway, plus I killed 3 boars lol! Getting the pegasus dream horse for free as a returning player really helped in getting around quickly from talky to talky, heh. Also, sharing all of my Lahn main 58 Tuvala gear from a season a couple years ago didn't hurt! I have like 2billion silver in the warehouse, so I'm sure that will go a looooong way, he he. Like you, loving the cheesiness and yankification for some reason, TURT :). And you are 100% right about the combo cluster-combat lol!

    i played like 2k hours of bdo over 5 years the gameplay is certainly fun there is a lot of thing to do but if you want to pvp no new player will be able to within a year time if you consider pvp being the endgame it can easily take a year to just reach softcap but even when you reach softcap you will still get outgeared and oneshot the only thing that softcap do is if someone mess up you might catch them so basically bdo is the only pvp game where a new player don't get to pvp if you want to do anything else aside from pvp the game is great ig like you can market flip like in poe even its way harder in bdo but there is a lot to do aside from pvp

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  Год назад

      So true. I think they have an instanced PVP mode called arena of Solare where you don't have to have all the gear because everyone chooses from a few different sets. Equal grounds at least for that mode!

    • @usernamenotavailable4072
      @usernamenotavailable4072 Год назад

      That's not exactly true. They have t1 node wars which has an ap cap of a season character, 245ap. A few weeks of playing and your on the same level as everyone else, they have season red battlefield (team pvp) all basically same level, arena of solare which everyone picks from the same gear pool so everyone is on an even playing field. I don't even pvp I just pve and I also have played since 2018 and it's an entirely different game. They give you a free set of tet boss gear and weapons and provide a way to upgrade all that gear without enhancing and give tet equivalent accessories. Seasons made the game so much better and easier for a new player to get into

    • @xTazerTx
      @xTazerTx Год назад

      except you guys only one of those per season and sure you can get a tet boss gear per season as well and i think you can upgrade it to pen i don't remember the real problem is that season are boring as fuck with really stupid and annoying objectives sure a new player doing his first season will be a huge bump in his gear but you dont do shit with 245 ap you still have a hugh mongus grind after that to just get to softcap so season really are just a band aid on a way bigger issue and as i said if you do anything else aside from pvp the game is fine but i don't see any major changes since i last played in 2021

    What level does/can LotML take you up to before you have to go back to the main continent and Altinova presumably...? I really disliked the desert around Altinova and the massive grind, which is why I abandoned my Lahn at 58 (as much as I liked playing her) and the game a couple years ago. Hoping some of that has changed. Would like to try & get several classes to 60-61 and the top tier content (is that more like 70 now?), so I can experience more of them & the game, as progression is my main jam, endgame not so much, being a mostly solo PvE carebear, eh.

    I always wondered what a BDO would be like without the whole MMO grinding for everything aspect. I think I'm just over the whole, grinding part of these types of games. I just want to play the game not, play 20 hours grinding to play the game. It's a weird thing to say but I wonder what it would be like if BDO didn't have all of the grindy things and the countless amounts of systems that makes you have to grind for even more things and all that stuff.
