As a new BDO player for the current season, I feel like I am DROWNING with all of the terms and info being thrown at me. Your guide is an amazing help.
I just started playing this game and there is SO MUCH going on that I've watched 3 or 4 beginner guides just to wrap my head around it. This guide was the most useful by far! Thank you for clarifying so much so clearly!
It's def catered towards the hardcore audience. But Imma just take my sweet time to learn and understand it and see if I get a casual otherworld experience.
Not a new player myself, but it's great you covered some of the settings and alerts. Many of the alerts get annoying real quick, I couldn't disable them quick enough. Overall great guide, will definitely help new players have a smoother experience.
Just started and all the ui clutter and "press t to auto run" all over the screen almost made me quit. The starting experience is terrible. Its taken me a while just to get things visually appealing to play.
I totally agree. i still remember when i first started the notifications were going off non-stop and it was overwhelming. I had to figure out how to disable notifications real fast.
Great guide, I wished I watched your video before I started a season character I would have been more relaxed and had more fun without overwhelming myself.
Dude!!! Your channel is seriously the first one that I've come across that is so idiot friendly, lol, thank you so much for the indepth beginning guide, I am currently waiting for the game to download and was very anxious; one, because it being an older game I knew it was going to be a tuff ride getting caught up. But watching your video here you have put alot of this anxiety to ease. I really hope you will make follow up videos like a follow along for maybe the first few hours of gameplay to provide an overview of what should be done and not. Also, like GW2 inventory was a real issue for me so maybe you can give some tips on how to manage the inventory; like when to clean it, where to store it and what to store, what to sell, etc., etc. You will be my go to man, pls don't let me down, many of us noobs/idiots need your teaching!
That's actually a really good idea. Next time we can get free accounts, i might make a new clean one and do that! Untill that point, ill try my best to help you out here tho :> 1) Dont worry! Put stuff in your storage wherever you are, and you can also put things into the market place (its own kind of storage). 2) You can access your market place storage from any storagekeeper in any town. 3) You can do something called "The Magnus" which is a special (new) questline, that will not only give you your first PEN Armor (highest level), a new skill, Fast Travel between cities... it will also unlock GLOBAL storage access, so anything you placed in any storage, you can access from any city :) Also you can do the quest very very early on when you feel like it (i would do it after getting level 56 maybe 60 tho). The game has evolved ALOT over the last 2 years, with massive focus on QOL and making the experience of picking up the game for a new player, way more steam-lined and enjoyable. Just take it nice and slow and enjoy the ride!
@@BiceptimusPrime So your recommendation is to wait until Lv. 56-60 to do the Magnus Quest? I planned to do the main story quest until I reach that region you and others mentioned. Then I guess I'll do side missions/dailies/weeklies until Lv. 56-60. Is there a purposeful reason to wait until this Lv.? Maybe I'm just missing that point or it went right over my head? But I definately want to have fun with this game but want to be as efficient as possible at the same time. I'm sure I'll go off on tangents more than not being such a massive open world but...lmao. Anyway, thanks for your response and pointers. Look forward to getting into it ASAP.
@@memyselforsomeonelikeme1980 Nope, there is no reason to wait! You can, and should, do it as soon as you feel like it! There is just so much to learn and do with the "regular" leveling, that it can be a bit overwhelming to get too sidetracked while still exploring the map and leveling up your class to get all the skills etc, but the Magnus is also a great sidestory you can do in small parts, whenever you need a break from the regular quest/leveling =) I can HIGHLY recommended getting lost in the world, and doing exactly what you feel like doing, at any given point :D Quest for 15mins, do a magnus quest, see a pretty flower and gather for the next 2 days, go back to questing abit, find out you can build a boat, spend the next 3 weeks making a boat, sail out on the sea to fish and explore the islands etc.... its a sandbox! Enjoy the journey, the grind will be there for you always :>
Great Guide. The first region is also the first portion of the story and the story continue to Eternal Winter. Even thou the story is weak, if anyone is interested in the story. They should try to start at Ancient Stone Chamber.
i was thinking to buy the game because a friend of mine is playing. My last MMO was Lineage 2 and after that i couldnt find a game that gives me the vibe of L2. Your video helped a lot to make the purchase because your video is sooo helpfull for new players! Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
I've been playing this for just short of a month now and my gosh, I wish I got into it sooner, I've wanted to ask questions in group chat and/ server but I get anxious, I know people can be cocky or purposely tell me incorrect advice for jokes. There is so much to unpack in this game! I'm currently just following story thankfully, I'm grateful that I found this video this was so helpful
Feel free to ask any questions! We also have a quite large and SUPER helpful community on our discord channel if you are worried about getting troll answers in the ingame channels
@@BiceptimusPrime thankyou very much, I'm going to see how far I can get just by learning at my own pace but if I do struggle I'll catch your streams as I've followed you on twitch too 😎
While this didn't have information I was looking for, this guide is actually great for someone who has not played BDO at all. Good job, lots of good information in this period.
Thanks man! Remember you can always ask about what you were after - its A LOT easier to answer specific questions, than trying to answer all questions in a general guide :D maybe we can still get you the information you were looking for :)
Awakening and succession tend to be complementary. In classes where the base kit is more orientated to 1v1, awakening usually gives you more aoe. In mid-ranged classes, awakening tends to give you more melee options, and in melee classes awakening gives you mid-long range options. Also, awakening tends to cover the qualitative flags of the base kit: if it's a slow but hard-hitting class awakening gives you movement and i-frames (I.e. Nova), if it's a damage-heeavy class it gives more cc options (e.g. Mahewa, sage), if it's a glass cannon it gives you more protection (e.g. witch and maegu), while succession emphasise both the advantages and disadvantages of the base set: if you have a glass cannon, succession make it even more glass cannony, if you have a 1v1 cc class succession makes it a cc beast and so on. Awakening is usually more complicated to play effectively, but if you feel your class is great but something is really missing, awakening may fix it for you
Great great guide and love how you're smiling and welcoming, I found a lot of videos like this but I always click off within the first few minutes for some reason but this is the one. Thank you
Just came back after 5 years or so and it was pretty overwhelming, so glad I stuck with it past the initial part. Great guide and its much needed for alot of us.
I've never watched a video longer than 10min in one go. You sure kept everything nice and simple while keeping us engaged and never losing interest in the first few minutes. Great tutorial indeed. Keep up the good work.
3:25 Its the main quest that i got ALL my materials to enhance ALL my gear to Tuvala v, so i don't know what you are talking about here, a bit miss leading, sure you can get drip feed materials while grinding but if you are new, you have no idea how or where to grind. So my advice is to 100% do the main quests for each region on the seasonal servers. If you don't you are shooting yourself in the foot and creating your own struggle.
With the new skill points system, you get enough to maximise either succession or awakening; as you receive two preset slots on every character for free, you can simply fully learn succession and save it to slot one, and awakening and save it to slot two (without learning enhanced and add on skills), for an even faster switch. Then you can buy additional slots on your main for specialised builds (I.e. pve or pvp), if you don't want to bother re-learning the add ons every time.
Great video, I have been more than a little overwhelmed with BDO so far....this is very helpful. Side note, I had to click on your "about" tab to verify...I knew you were a Dane from the first few seconds of this video :)
Good guide for us newbies. Haven't started yet but thanks to your guide, some of it helps me understand more about the progress of the game. Will play soon on asia server. Thank you.
As a new player, buy the tent. Buy the season black spirit pass. These helped me quite a bit. Get 7 days of every passive buff and play the game a.few days each week and you should be making plenty of.progress on main story and journals as you do msq. Grinding is a bit of a waste of time before you need to finish season as crystals are cheap to fill up slots with whatever. Resistance to knockdown and stiffen are useful but not needed.
New Player here, literally started yesterday! Thank you for this advice! Veterans Help please! One Question: Are the Items from the FESTA Event Coupons for your Whole Account? Or will they be bind to the character that claims it? Especially the Costume Boxes and Horse... (tbh I don't even know what the "original Costume" and "premium Costume" mean lol
Costume boxes and horses are shared family wide. For costume boxes it is only after u open it that it becomes character bind since it opens for the character’s specific class. So if u want to save it for another character just put in in a storage in town unopened. I believe original and premium costumes is just a label, I’m somewhat new too but I had these similar questions and asked someone in-game bout it. Hope this helps!
Woah such a nice guide I am starting BDO from today many told me not to but I chose to feel it The BDO rush either no other good mmos out there anymore
As a seasoned MMORPG veteran I say starting a new class from a high level is really bad. You miss out on the entirety of the leveling process, which sounds good in theory, but not only do you miss out on the satisfaction of progression that way, you also don't learn its abilities and quirks slowly, 1 by 1, slowly improving each of them. It's like putting an entire 10-course meal onto a single spoon and swallowing it, it's terrible.
I only timepiece to classes I don’t want to play and then park them at bosses. Like you said, leveling a new class is essential to learning how to play it, at least for me.
Excellent video thank you! fyi all, at around 20:00 he mentions locking 'Evasion' - I didn't have this on Musa but I see 'Forward Roll' and it looks like exact same so I think bdo just changed the name of the skill is all.
Really good video, that followed it`s own advice... : "It took it`s time" I play for 6 years now (they give you an in game cake early on the day you've made your account) and I've just learned the "free succession/awakening mechanical reset" thing so +1 for Biceptimus on that... I wanna just write fairly short weird thing... Depending on your overall mood, level of immersion into story lines and such and your character choice (because probably because of too much gaming, the character I currently am on, I have 21 at the moment and on some of them I have done the content I am talking about, affects my perception of the in game environment. And how you see the environment (through the eyes of your in game avatar, sort of, because it is 3rd person game... fortunately...) affects you. I am gonna try to give an understandable example. Also damn I've said I am gonna be short... I guess this is my short... Shai as a class is tiny little girl (which of course is 5 000 years old thou)... Guardian is mighty tall and large and muscly (depends on how you make her) and curvy at the same time (I mean who doesn`t do their Guardian Curvy)... One and the same pet cat... next to the Shai and when you are on the Shai looks kind of ~large you know... You are OMG that is a Large Cat... that very same cat next to the Guardian (or some of the large male characters, even thou Guardians are larger than some Warriors and warriors are of the large males... Berserkers being the literal Giant sized and Sages are fairly large males as well), but back to the cat, so that cat next to large character looks like well Smaller Kitten... My point is... now multiply the entire BDO detailed environment (if you play on remastered) by that "cat size perception" thing. Also different characters do give you different non visual "feelings" of strengths and weaknesses based on class specifics... Fragile Quick Close range... Bulky Close range... Distance Operator... etc...Now all of that.. all of it... once you go trough the entire very well tailored as Biceptimus have said Eternal Winter (if you so chose for a starting option) *spoiler alert* The end depending on all of the written above might somewhat affect your mood towards the negative... Again it depends on you as a person, your current state... etc., etc. And of course "game goes on"... I just want to mention during the first part in the place called Odylita there is something fairly emotionally intense as well... but that is many, many hours into the game in... Even thou >The Entire Main Quest Line< is doable within one beginning to end Season frame... There are 2 things about that... I have played for 6 years so even if I am not Biceptimus strong player (or many others are still way > me) I do know my way around... and yes After Mediah (as he've said) the return kind of ~diminishes in terms of in game enabling stuffs...You are left only with the adventure and the exploration... sure it add ups to in game stuffs as well but you can simply gain more of many other activities... Yet I have 0 to 100 MSQ on at least few different classes trough Seasons.
We started to play with friends, we do all mission and upgrading our tuvala gear. However we get so many items that we don't have any clue what to do with them. Sometimes we don't have enough place in eq to take them all. We like the game very much, but as begginers is very hard to understand it, especially when english is not your main language :D Can you make a tutorial what to do after upgrading tuvala gear to PEN?

I'm GW2 player and there is a little more systems in BDO (it's close to lost ark) I don't know if I'm able to grind this game out but for now I'm just enjoy sandbox and low level questing
I have a 3060 rtx 12gb, had to undervolt the GPU in order to play this lol ... had my GPU reach temps above 80 degrees sometimes which would cause the game to crash... undervolt helped and now I can play on high/remaster without issues and around 65 degrees on my GPU, no performance loss. This is literally the only game that was causing me issues lol
Man I 1000% agree with the advice to play what you think you like - if you don't, try something else you think you will like. But don't chase what's the strongest just because. I knew before I started playing that I would probably enjoy Ranger the most. I got recommended Tamer by someone so Tamer was the first thing I made. I was disappointed with it (this was 2016, before awakenings existed and before the plethora of Heilang buffs and fixes) and I made Ranger. Loved it. Love it till this day, even if it has been a super bumpy ride. Now, I am an altoholic and I play all female classes, (and I have dupes so I am actually always at the character cap) of which I definitely have a top 5 I play more than the others. Some new classes over the years have blown my mind and shown me how fun they are, others are just genuinely super good in PvE (I don't PvP). To this day my Ranger remains my main, even though her PvE performance is often really not great (and I suck at playing the class, to be honest), but it is just my favorite, so best choice I ever made. In moments where I absolutely want to make use of drop scrolls and whatnot and be as efficient as possible, I tag other classes I love that clear better and then I just switch back to Ranger for the fun. We play games for the fun, in general, so that is what is most important. Of course, some people are allergic to not being the most optimal all of the time, but since BDO is highly luck dependant and a marathon instead of a sprint, even after 7 years I can say confidently no mistakes were made. It might not work for everyone, but I firmly believe it is the best approach for the majority of people. Countless others got pissed after their strong class got nerfed and then feel like they have to jump to a new strong one. Naturally, it can be frustrating if a class you genuinely love performs bad, OR if they get nerfed and THEN perform bad. The good thing is that there are ALWAYS uses to them. You can still clear rifts and scrolls with them. You can still go to lower AP (attack power) spots where they clear easily but where you can grind super rare drops (believe me, if you want inifinite potions, in many cases your AP does not matter much and you should just use what you LIKE, because it will otherwise just destroy you mentally. Most of those spots are snooze fests you'll be stuck in for 50+ hours). And even if you couldn't be bothered to do any of that, you can still either build another class you like (honestly, almost every class has elements you might like... though coming from an altoholic this might not mean much) or tag them. There is a tag system where you can copy your main gear to another character. This means that you can keep building the class you like the most even if they're bad at the moment and you can copy that gear to something you like that performs better. There's so many options, that chasing after efficiency alone, is not the right move, IF that in and of itself isn't what you enjoy the most. Some do.
I’ve been a lahn main since day one even when her pve was kinda booty I tried swapping and instantly got bored and went back to lahn now between succ and awaken she can pretty much do all the content and is amazingly fun
I started playing yesterday and gotta be honest theres so many menus and unexplained systems that my eyes just kind of glaze over. I wish theyd introduce them in a stagger as you played
New sub here only had to watch a few minutes before making this comment and continuing with the video . Quick question i made a seasonal character really didnt like how slow guardian was . So i made a drakana i really enjoy it but i couldnt do the season servers . What do i do about this can i delete the guardian ? Also you said about not bothering when questing ? Which is what i am primarly doing as want to just level and then do the awakening quest line etc . Any help apreciated . Thanks
Welcome to the game and the channel =) Questing is fine, and you SHOULD do it, atleast untill you complete the Mediah Region questline, and then ofcourse your awakening and succession questline. After that, its only if you want to do it, you dont NEED to do questing after that for leveling up etc. If you go to Character Select, you can delete a char. There is a 3 min wait time for it to delete (to prevent mistakes), once your guardian is deleted, you can make a new Season Char. Hope this helped =)
@BiceptimusPrime excellent thanks so much . I already have a drakana character which I'm enjoying just playing on one of the new servers if I delete my guardian will tgis character become seasonal or do I need to start a freshie ? Thanks
So there are 2 ways to do it. If you delete your Guardian, you will need to make a new fresh char for season. However, if you level up your Guardian, and use the Fughar Time Piece (there are some great guides on youtube about this item), then you can COPY your xp from your guardian to another char (the other char has to be below lvl 25 though), and swap places with them, so guardian becomes normal char, and the normal char becomes season char,@@___m16
Why do you say not to worry about events? I find checking the events on the official website really helps you understand what certain items do and what the community meta is. Horse training event? Nows the time to imperial trade some horses for T10 mats. Fishing event? Looks like I'll be overnight fishing this week. Not to mention the rewards for events are pretty good. Also I disagree with new players starting on season servers. They can enjoy better EXP and CP buffs on Olvia while still grinding for season rewards in non season servers via the regional subjugation quests and I really don't think the extra silver you get from being in a season server is more valuable than the CP gain when you're just starting out and have none.
I think you misunderstood what i ment :) You should 100% make a season Character. You are just not forced to be on a season server, with a season char - so if the season server is crowded, you can swap to a regular server (channel), and quest on there without missing anything. But you should do your regular play on a season server, with a season char, as a new player =)
What I always find a bit strange with most MMOs is that everyone seems to rush for endgame (which seems to be what the seasons are helping you with). Especially when the endgame consists basically of grinding. Where's the appeal? The journey should be the goal, like it is in Final Fantasy XIV. Isn't it a sign that a game is bad if people want to skip the majority of it? And won't this lead to a number of new players getting to endgame undergeared and unable to play their characters properly?
Yes! If u click ESC a menu pops on on bottom left corner and u should see something called Edit UI and there u can move stuff around to ur liking. Hope this helps!
I kn/ow you have a good intention with this guide. but the guide from 2 years ago is still the same as this one.. and still applicable to this day Not gonna deny that the leveling itself is so fun (for a new player) and the combat ? Absolutely amazing *chief kiss. But once you reach 650-670GS theres no content that makes you stay in the game beside grinding and pvp.... I hope that next guide isnt gonna be a grind guide or a gearing guide, and something more fun and diverse (if the dev even gonna bother to add new feature/content, LOL)
@@03blaird so new player have to grind every day for gear if they want to catch up?nah... There's jetina and tuvala. Also let's say you're correct, do you think new player willing to spend the rest of the day grinding after a long day of work? What I'm implying is that, maybeeeee just maybeeee somedayyy BDO will add a fun content that is not single player focus.
YES! Dammit i knew there was 1 thing i forgot to add to the video :D this exact question. Answer: Even if there is 1 day left, you should ALWAYS make a Season. You will get an end of season reward, which is the same as a TET Accessory (around 20h grinding value for a new player). You can quite easily complete main season things in 1 week. You might not be able to get full PEN Tuvala, but you should be able to get several pieces and enjoy the bonus exp while at it. I have some tips on this in my Season Enhancing guide. If you are missing some pen tuv items after season ends, you can get items called Narchillian, which are almost as good, for free (quest items), to fill in the slots you missed getting PEN on.
@@BiceptimusPrime Thanks for the quick and thorough response ! I will make a seasonal character today and take advantage of my Easter days off work to get it as high as possible within the week . Who knows, if I no life it for a few days i might even finish it 😛
@@happymuffin2673 You for sure can =) Also, i do believe the season was extended untill the 10th, so PLENTY of time to finish it at your own pace. But veterans can full finish season in 1-2 days by going max ham, and ive seen completely new players do it in 5-7 days too (obviously playing many hours). Enjoy the journey :D
@@happymuffin2673 I have gotten my full pen Tuvalu in less then a week but I also started bdo at the very end of last season and was still learning everything so I through a lot of advice of valks and Chron stones on it
Hey guys! Beginner here! How well does this game do with 3 other friends? Will it be worth the fun or passable? Since the character gameplay looks really really fun! And how does a Sage, Berserker, Woola combo in PvE?
Hey! You can for sure play with friends, level up together and quest together. I personally started with my brother and 2 of our WoW friends when the game came out, and we did just that! Its NOT a game that really is focused around playing as a group. There are group content (like 5man weekly dungeons, 3 atm, a 4th is coming soon), that is well worth doing and fun, and also some group grind-spots at different gearing levels. But you will quickly find that after the leveling experience, the gameplay-loop is more focused around the individuel. Which, is actually a good thing. It was a thing that scared me at first (since we were 4, later 5, friends playing together) but it turns out its the best thing ever! Everyone can log on and play the game, and do things when they want to, for as long or as short as they want - and then you can do group grind, dungeons, pvp, exploration, questing, what not, when you are all on - but you are never reliant on having all your boys on to do anything. Give it a go, you are gonna have a great time!
Can someone clarify, the old character keeps its level/xp right?: I feel like that's worth mentioning, it essentially gives you two chars to play! And family fame etc.
Timepiece *copies* the exact LVL/EXP of Character_A to Character_B. As well as skill points (doesn't include the ones you get from quests). But by doing so, it *transfers* the SEASON TITLE/STATUS from Character_A to Character_B. Making it so that Character_A won't be able to enter season servers anymore and won't be able to equip TUVALA gears (at least until after graduation or season ends). On that note, Character_B will now be able to enter season server and wear TUVALA gear.
I dont have any good reason to early graduate specially as new player after uy have all pen tuvala u can just grind mobs with season boosts and the extra money u get from all the time stones is nice i mean 100k piece and weaklys give 600 and when using bunch of loot scrolls u get them insanely fast so its good early money making for new player
2:04 what about sales/events/maintance/patches? Is steam simliar? In ff14 steam gets patched later for example and maintance is longer, theres also sales on tmog and events and such making the loadstone version supperior to steam.
11:30 in comparison tho is the one on the left alot more time consuming than the right, I just want to rush to endgame I don't care for any story but I'm also a new player
7:25 You only copy level and +- 90% of skill points to another character, which will be your new season character. Gear, slots, weight , flute and all that good stuff wont copy. Just wanted to make it clear. I was told that copied character will have everything my current have, so ive just spend all my free slots, weight and tons of other stuff, thinking that if i wont like the class i have one more chance. Nice guide tho, dont take this as a complain. Just so the new player dont have to shed a tear like i did :D
As mentioned by Brolloks, its 100% of the skillpoints an exp (excluding quest SP). But the other points are super valid and important, glad you pointed it out! I should prolly have mentioned what WASNT copied using the timepiece, so glad you did =)
4:30 season char gets deleted? What game, as far as ive seen its the same thing, standard like in POE, after the season the char goes to normal. Curious what games you are referring to where the char on a season gets yeeted and deleted after the season is over.
hi man, new player here, thanks for the vid! quick question, i have difficulty w remembering all the keybinds, so the different attack symbols showing left of your warrior during the awakening part of the video, how do i get them? thanks again for the exceptional vid!
You can setup Skill Cooldowns and quickslots. If you go into esc -> edit UI, you can move everything around. Also under the K (skill) menu, you can click "Quick Slot Settings" in the bottom, and add abilities to show their cooldowns. There is actually also an ingame Notepad you can use, to write down combos etc. Jump by the stream if you have a chance, and ill try my best to show and explain it, if it didnt quite make sense in written form!
More videos like this but for more advanced players. And if you wanna do GOD WORK. Tell us console players what to prep and save for - L66 720gs Mageu kuno
Not a bad idea, got a few more videos planned first though. Unfortunately i can't really make content for Console, as i (we) have no idea when or what you guys will get as it seems you follow a completely different release schedule due to the technical limitations on Gen1 :(
I am trying to get into bdo but I don’t understand a lot of the in game crafting, storage, gear, ect… just following the main story and worried I’m falling behind in other areas.
dont worry, you are just fine doing that! The other stuff can slowly come down the road, but for now the most important thing is what are you doing atm :>
New player here, and I have a question. In this video, it was mentioned there are no damage numbers in the game, only popups like Back Attack/Critical/ etc. However, when I see videos from some BDO content creators they have damage numbers popping up. Was this added recently or is that a mod/plugin/setting they have? I dont really care about it either way, just curious.
That is only on Global Lab (the test-server). Its been there for years along with a few other features we will properly never see on the live version of the game
I would like to know more about the combat system. It can be a game breaker for me. My favorite combat system in MMO's so far is Neverwinter. Games that have a tab target system are a big no for me. This game looks really good though.
This game has easily the best combat system of any mmo, ever (imo:>). Its full action combat, and done extremely well. You can check some class guides out to see how its done if you are curious, but i think you might enjoy this very much if tab target is a big no for you
You can just select the questline under "main". Open "O" -> "Main" -> Select the questline you want to start, and click it and auto path to it. It should work. Let me know if it dosnt work and ill see if i can sort it out.
the 1 thing that bugs me with the devs and streamers is all the UI stuff in the middle of the screen (((SO U CANT SEE THE GAME))) u dont neeed 2 HP bars & a masiv name tag .the devs need to shut alll that stuff off or move it to the side because it makes the game look like garbo
Nope. If you just save 1 preset, where you havnt chosen awak or succ, you can fully reset and then select which build you want whenever you load that preset.

Untill that point, ill try my best to help you out here tho :>
1) Dont worry! Put stuff in your storage wherever you are, and you can also put things into the market place (its own kind of storage).
2) You can access your market place storage from any storagekeeper in any town.
3) You can do something called "The Magnus" which is a special (new) questline, that will not only give you your first PEN Armor (highest level), a new skill, Fast Travel between cities... it will also unlock GLOBAL storage access, so anything you placed in any storage, you can access from any city :)
Also you can do the quest very very early on when you feel like it (i would do it after getting level 56 maybe 60 tho).
There is just so much to learn and do with the "regular" leveling, that it can be a bit overwhelming to get too sidetracked while still exploring the map and leveling up your class to get all the skills etc, but the Magnus is also a great sidestory you can do in small parts, whenever you need a break from the regular quest/leveling =)
I can HIGHLY recommended getting lost in the world, and doing exactly what you feel like doing, at any given point :D Quest for 15mins, do a magnus quest, see a pretty flower and gather for the next 2 days, go back to questing abit, find out you can build a boat, spend the next 3 weeks making a boat, sail out on the sea to fish and explore the islands etc.... its a sandbox!
Keep up the good work!
thanks very helpful for a returning player that hasn't played in years. appreciate your content
Thank you
Been playing for over a year now and didn't know about the free respec. That's amazing thank you!
I am realy happy that you sad most important thing about first character. Use what is coolest loking for you)
Best intro video I have seen. I've been looking for a good one for a while.
Just came back after 5 years or so and it was pretty overwhelming, so glad I stuck with it past the initial part. Great guide and its much needed for alot of us.
Just started, thank you. This is the best beginner guide so far
I've never watched a video longer than 10min in one go. You sure kept everything nice and simple while keeping us engaged and never losing interest in the first few minutes. Great tutorial indeed. Keep up the good work.
Ah dude I had no idea about the skill preset. 👌🏼 Nice one!
Then you can buy additional slots on your main for specialised builds (I.e. pve or pvp), if you don't want to bother re-learning the add ons every time.
thx for the reset tip via skill npc. i was playing the game a few years on an off and didnt know that one, will sure come handy 😁
Great video, I have been more than a little overwhelmed with BDO so far....this is very helpful. Side note, I had to click on your "about" tab to verify...I knew you were a Dane from the first few seconds of this video :)
Returning player here, started watching your stream during drops. Stayed after for the content.
Good guide for us newbies. Haven't started yet but thanks to your guide, some of it helps me understand more about the progress of the game. Will play soon on asia server. Thank you.
Best beginner guide I've seen so far
Explained everything very simple and clear 👌
As a new player, buy the tent. Buy the season black spirit pass. These helped me quite a bit. Get 7 days of every passive buff and play the game a.few days each week and you should be making plenty of.progress on main story and journals as you do msq. Grinding is a bit of a waste of time before you need to finish season as crystals are cheap to fill up slots with whatever. Resistance to knockdown and stiffen are useful but not needed.
Amazing video! Well explained, great flow and perfect advice.
Agree, very well put together and explained. Definitely appreciate him taking the time and doing this.
Hey! you save me so much time. Gonna start the game right now with all your do's and dont's. Thx for the guide.
Thanks and greetings from germany. I startet yesterday and i love it. Good Video!
Woah such a nice guide I am starting BDO from today many told me not to but I chose to feel it The BDO rush either no other good mmos out there anymore
You pointed out some things that i didnt hear about in other videos,Thanks for the great guide.
1st mistake to avoid: to pick awk warrior and become dependant to its mechanics even if its a torture to play in pvp due to its terrible state
True and real :(
gona use this for my family, thanks Mr.Biceptimus
Great video, I'm brand new to bdo and this guide really helped.... now I'll jump to your enhancement guide XD
Very helpfull, im just now starting out and this is one of the better videos ive seen.
perfect guide for new players!! GJ
Great video man
Thank you for the UI settings! The UI is what ran me off. It felt so overwhelming
great guide, just started for a week now and it gave me so much info.
this was so helpful! thank you so much! :D
Really good video, that followed it`s own advice... : "It took it`s time"
I play for 6 years now (they give you an in game cake early on the day you've made your account) and I've just learned the "free succession/awakening mechanical reset" thing so +1 for Biceptimus on that...
I save succ and awa to 1 and 2 and just swap between them that way since we always have enough points anyway
He has a guide on his channel called "From Season to Endgame" which is still relevant

New player here, your tips are amazing! Earned my sub
Problem I have is I have so many returning gifts and items since 16" I have no idea where to store them and what they all do
New sub here only had to watch a few minutes before making this comment and continuing with the video .
Thanks
Welcome to the game and the channel =)
Questing is fine, and you SHOULD do it, atleast untill you complete the Mediah Region questline, and then ofcourse your awakening and succession questline.
@BiceptimusPrime thanks alot apreciate the help . Understand what you mean 👍👍
Big thumbs up for the timestamp!
Thank u for this feature. U are the best =)
Very informative. Subbed!
Some beginner guides say start on a season server while you say dont. No wonder I’m hesitant about starting the game. Grrrrr!
I think you misunderstood what i ment :) You should 100% make a season Character. You are just not forced to be on a season server, with a season char - so if the season server is crowded, you can swap to a regular server (channel), and quest on there without missing anything. But you should do your regular play on a season server, with a season char, as a new player =)
thx for advices ! im new ... very well done...ty for ur work!
Spam R to skip everything - noted!
This is a 30 minutes long video, only covering mistakes beginners should avoid.
Says a lot about BDO
I know this might be dumb but I’m planning on having one of every class at level 61 just so I have a collection of them and make one big happy family
GREAT EXPLANATION
What I always find a bit strange with most MMOs is that everyone seems to rush for endgame (which seems to be what the seasons are helping you with). Especially when the endgame consists basically of grinding. Where's the appeal? The journey should be the goal, like it is in Final Fantasy XIV. Isn't it a sign that a game is bad if people want to skip the majority of it? And won't this lead to a number of new players getting to endgame undergeared and unable to play their characters properly?
Gj Bicept
Very great guide. Thank you :).Is there a way to remove those skills in the middle of the screen in does & don't part of the video?
Yes! If u click ESC a menu pops on on bottom left corner and u should see something called Edit UI and there u can move stuff around to ur liking. Hope this helps!
You are great ! thank you 4 help :)
this was super helpful tysm
thanks for this i subbed and liked :)
I kn/ow you have a good intention with this guide. but the guide from 2 years ago is still the same as this one.. and still applicable to this day
Not gonna deny that the leveling itself is so fun (for a new player) and the combat ? Absolutely amazing *chief kiss.
But once you reach 650-670GS theres no content that makes you stay in the game beside grinding and pvp....
I hope that next guide isnt gonna be a grind guide or a gearing guide, and something more fun and diverse (if the dev even gonna bother to add new feature/content, LOL)
you're talking about a GS that would take a new player YEARS to reach...new players wont have to worry about that for quite a long time.
Question : Is it worth starting a season with only 7 days left in it ?
Is that enough time to finish it, or should I wait for the next season ?
Season has been extended to may 10
@@happymuffin2673 I have gotten my full pen Tuvalu in less then a week but I also started bdo at the very end of last season and was still learning everything so I through a lot of advice of valks and Chron stones on it

@@BiceptimusPrime thanks for the quick response! We got a game for the summer holidays now! 👻🥳
Can someone clarify, the old character keeps its level/xp right?: I feel like that's worth mentioning, it essentially gives you two chars to play! And family fame etc.
Yes it's a copy of the xp, not a transfer 😁
the only thing that transfers is the season onto another character and your entire gear
What's about the quests you completed are they reset or same status ? And pets ?
Preset with no skill points used is absolutely genius
7:25
You only copy level and +- 90% of skill points to another character, which will be your new season character.
Just so the new player dont have to shed a tear like i did :D
you copy 100% of skillpoints gained outside of quest skillpoint rewards since you can get that on every character.
As mentioned by Brolloks, its 100% of the skillpoints an exp (excluding quest SP). But the other points are super valid and important, glad you pointed it out! I should prolly have mentioned what WASNT copied using the timepiece, so glad you did =)
So what happens if its not a season? Its not worth starting? And what equipment do you use then?
Unfortunately i can't really make content for Console, as i (we) have no idea when or what you guys will get as it seems you follow a completely different release schedule due to the technical limitations on Gen1 :(

dont worry, you are just fine doing that! The other stuff can slowly come down the road, but for now the most important thing is what are you doing atm :>
ive been playing bdo since beta why am i watching this
Probably because none of us are geared like Sonii is.
@@bayrockdev Not true i'm 747gs with 30,7k hours tracked on steam but still here :D
@@BiceptimusPrime Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying. I was super confused because I watched a video like that right after this one. Thanks!
I started LOML after watching your video and it was definitely a mistake 😢
I would like to know more about the combat system. It can be a game breaker for me. My favorite combat system in MMO's so far is Neverwinter. Games that have a tab target system are a big no for me. This game looks really good though.
This game has easily the best combat system of any mmo, ever (imo:>). Its full action combat, and done extremely well. You can check some class guides out to see how its done if you are curious, but i think you might enjoy this very much if tab target is a big no for you
thank u ;)
sadly, I had used skill addons before watching this video. Would've been nice to have a preset like that..
so i play ninja , should i lock out ninja envasion in the skill tree? or is that different than other characters evasions?
Hello, is there a way to change starting path? I dont want to delete character, but i picked wrong questing zone :/
I mean you can just make the UI look the way you want it :) Its freely optimizable, and all the stuff is around the edge of the screen by default.
If i lock evasion when i double tap a s or d will it do the dodge instead or will i still have to hold shift
So we have to make 2 presets yes? One with awakening no points spent and one with succession no points spent right?
Nope. If you just save 1 preset, where you havnt chosen awak or succ, you can fully reset and then select which build you want whenever you load that preset.
