Chris Trump is the best ambassador to JADAM natural farming. This is a treasure of a video.
*KNF. It's slightly different than JADAM with a similar mindset for sure
This is one of the best videos on youtube. Thank you for the good Job Chris
Omg u made another video!! Thank you so so much cant wait for more :)
Looks like and amazing way to start some hugelkultur beds!
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing detail information and I liked the mini setup.
Great video! Love the model demonstration. Most thorough video I’ve seen on the knf piggery set up.
I sincerely appreciate this.
You're such a great instructor.
Well understood.
Thanks!
This is the best presentation i have come across. Thanks Chris
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
Thank you for your explanation of how one can have none smelling in pig farming...Very well explained..
Sharing is caring. Thanks Chris for the amazing video. Maximum respect 👏
21:59 You are so damn cute sometimes! Mom bashing her head against the fence haha
Great video as always, can't wait for poultry! Mahalo
Thanks for sharing this Chris.
Thanks to your technique Mr. Trump. I really need it. Also thanks I'm a new subscriber now.
Hi name sake
Am just watching from Nigeria
Your content is superb.
I love the idea !
I liked how you used the scaled down model to build the floor and containment building. Thanks.
So educative. Thank you for the piece.
Thank you for yr amazing videos...u have taught me so much...thank u!
Thx so much Chris..... Its been an eye opener at the exact right time.
did you run with it Nambi and how is it going, where are you doing it am in Zimbawe Africa
hi, I appreciate your video and it gives me some idea of how to start a no smell piggery. the question I have for you is that do we need to change or redo the flooring process ever again or how long do we have to change or clean the beddings or log of wood for?.thank you.
Chris, awesome walkthrough!! If I were to try something like this for 2 cats, what dimensions would you suggest?
Hi Chris, Thanks so much for your work in sharing information. Am I to understand that you can inoculate the living floor with something like fpj? Learning Learning Learning!
very very informative,thx CHRIS
Thanks you that very good indeed!!!
Going to put this plan into action, and when I do - I will definitely share it with you, Chris! Thank you so very much!
Nice job 👍 i will try this and send you pics ... thanks
I have learnt alot. Thanks.
I remember some video about layering grains and corn within it provoking the pigs to dig about and turn the soil.
Wassup Braddah! Mahalo for this video. I wanted to check in your set up if youre utilizing the 7/3 rule for the south side roof as well?
Hi Chris, thanks for the video, its quite educative. I do not get the name of the iiving materia you added, what are the alternatives to this living material? How long does the flour materials require replacement. reply soon. thanks
its a good sharing for an odorless pig pen...
Thank you so much for this! How high does the roof have to be from the top layer of the live floor? Side, and centre? And what is the suggested angle (slope) required for the roofing for optimal air flow? Thanks!
Very good presentation
This is great, Chris! Love seeing the smaller scale, DIY (low cost) examples. Upfront cost is what is our biggest deterrent. Would also love to hear info for colder climates (I’m in the Finger Lakes of NY, so lots of snow!). Thanks!
And what is your advice if I already have a forest on my property? It seems it’d be cheaper to buy portable electric fence than to build a building?
marni duffy regarding cost, part of it depends on your location and materials. If you have to buy in the logs this will get expensive.
In the US try to work with optimized lumber dimensions if possible.
Making a pit is usually cheaper than solid walls with a roof 4 feet Higher than necessary.
In fact I've been wanting to build one of these with a 6 foot pit, where the pigs floor is two feet below grade. Only reason I haven't taken the plunge is that I am not sure if there would be sufficient ventilation that way.
Thanks bro I’m planning to have a piggery someday
Chris I'm totally new to all your terminology there are components of the whey based fertilizers that I need help with. Specifically the drops you add, what are LABS for instance...
Its been one and half year since i used my no smell piggery. It is working pretty great, thanks to you sir.
But from some months back, the floor is somehow wet with urine. Out of desperation, l use to spread some more saw dust/woodchips which solve the problem for fews. Please help.
Hello Chris what about using dried leaves instead le woodchips, The thing is I dont have acces to them. Btw watching from Colombia, farewell
Hi Chris, We are a farm that raises pigs in California. We are really inspired by this method of keeping pigs especially in winter. My initial question is does this method work in any climate? and are there any more specific resources for this or farms that you know of on the west coast that have put this into practice, especially one we could visit? Thanks for all you do!
Hi Chris, thanks for this . Please can I just a question. What if one mixes the sand , saw dust and IMO4 all together and fill in the pen
Thank you for this very informative video Chris.
I am currently planning on using this type of bedding for horse stalls and I am located in the North East.
I watched other videos and a lot of people are actually putting 6” of charcoal (biochar) as a bottom layer. What’s your opinion on that?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
in this set up, do the piggies not need anymore bath ? i mean to say how can you wash them when they get dirty? sorry for my grammar, and thank you sir
is there a way in knf to make liquid fertilizer from plant leaves without this horrible smile ?? .. i try to use l.a.b but that didnt work
Have you done any research on weather or not termites will plague the area with this pen?
How many vents should you make, and should they all be on the south wall or should the vents be on all of the walls?
Chris, please teach us about the Aeration tubing floor pipes function , which are used in flooring in KNF pig farming.
Hi.. I was just wondering if we can replace the logs with bamboos?
Thank you Chris for this teaching.
I am a beginner pig farmer with 13 piglets and three sows.
My primary pig pen was built into separate rooms but the smell is something, can I do a joint unit size of 15x20 feet? Using the IMO?
I really appreciate this method.
I live in a Country where feeding also is a challenge could you educate me on feed?
Wonderful
can we use this method to grow goats also
For the saw dust, can I replace it with rice hull?
No smell ? Can be in urban residential area without complaints?
Chris are you able to do this same process for cattle?
How long can this last for before changing it?
Thanks...
will it still work if we dont put log underneedneath
Chris, please teach us about KNF raising chickens, the coop etc? Thank you
Ok so, I'm in florida. How do I do this?? 4ft deep in the ground and 4 ft high are both unrealistic, how do I do a good pig bed?
Chris, could I use the clover from my own lawn as green mulch to fix nitrogen? Of course this question has nothing to do with pigs, sorry yo
Does the bedding turn into compost? do the pigs aerate the bedding by turning it? Or does the bedding stay permanent? If not when do you change it???
What type of wood is ok for the logs?
Please how many pigs could stay in the grow-out Pen Dimension given at the end of the video?
Thanks Chris for this video. Can i use solid cement blocks for the 4 ft surface wall?. Pls let me know.
Yes you can
How much feet from one layer to other layer, sir?
The best I have seen so far thanks for sharing
Would the roof orientation change if its in southern hemisphere?
How can I apply this in poultry?
will it work with imo 2
I also noticed that there is no wallow for the pigs in this video, is it not needed?. Can charcoal be used in place of biochar?
Just a rookie here but I’ve learned a little about charcoal vs bio char and can share some insight. Bio char is just inoculated charcoal. Inoculation is key other wise the charcoal will “absorb” (for a lack of a better word) the nutrients and biology the first year or so. When you inoculate the charcoal you’re adding a ton of bio diversity and it won’t “absorb” it from the area.
My hugs love to eat charcoal it's a great natural wormer !!!!!! I was told not to ever give your pigs salt " it will kill them ????? Because they can't sweat ?
does it apply for rabbits?
What can we use for mulch in stead of wood chips? Are woodcurls and orwoodshavings good?
Rice hulls
no biochar as the bottom layer?
What kind of salt? Sea salt?
Great video. Awesome info. If the North roof section "heats up", and I live in the Northern Hemisphere where the Sun is to the South, would I swap so the South section of roof is bigger?
I am also interested in this as well. I am assuming the comments about Hawaii are placing this design in Southern Hemisphere.
Hawaii is in the Northern Hemisphere.
@@michaelplunkett8059 LOL I didn't realize he was in Hawaii!
Hey Chris, could you use rice husks instead of sawdust?
Yes.
great explanation. but I watched the video in 2 times speed coz its too slow.
I’m not sure the north/south facing roof is right? Ours is in the same direction as the diagram at the video end. Sun moving over each roof side east to west.
how is your piggery working about would love to tap into your experiences learnt in the past 4 years if you able to share, am about to build out and would appreciate all heads up from experienced folk like yourself. Thanks
Do you think if you added EM instead of IMO4, it would digest it too quickly?
It would make a no smell piggery too but might require reapplication
Salt! Wow I wasn't expecting that!!
What is em going to do with wood? EM1 is bacteria... lactic acid bacteria. We are applying that already. EM tends to have a 6 month fall off so you would need to re inoculate... it costs more than 10 times the amount as well. So yeah you can experiment with it. Or just do it the way it’s been done for 50 years and try em on your second one.
Chris Trump EM the consortia not EM1, but interesting you’d classify EM1 as LAB. Isn’t EM1 catching fluffy mold in a basket? EM consortia has yeast, LAB, PNSB, and others is what I was referring to. Kefir grain consortia can be trained to eat plastic or anything as well. I’m just trying to know who’s who in the actual reactions :) and the actual exchanges. Have you checked out Organics Alive: they’ve been tracing specific food web members diets and waste products resultant from that to create unique groupings of microbes. I always do things by the book and observe first but I want to know why hehe ;)
I thought EM1 is a patented product out of Japan.
south facing meaning sun facing, right? So in Australia it would be the south side long and high, north side short and low?
Yes! I should have clarified that :p thanks for watching
@@biomei.solutions fantabulous information brother
Can l cement floor before laying logs?
That isn’t ideal, but yes you can.
I just started watching these videos with Chris Trump. Can anyone explain to me why salt is needed?
minerals for the pigs is one
OK just real quick what is a good thing to do with the pig waste want to clean it out of the pen???
Same question
Thanks for sharing ... can someone tell me what you added iron moth balls or iron something . Can’t hear properly
IMO 4
Indigenous Micro Organism (4), IMO4 google that
Can we use same setup even for goats.
hope so because pigs dont poop where they sleep like goats do.
Hello
Chris how long would this last before this would need to be redone?
Only the saw dust needs to be redone. Unless some floor event happens this should last 20 years +
Chris Trump any thoughts on using thick firewood length logs on the floor with the intention to harvest the floor compost and reboot every few years?
Just wondering where poop go?
hawaian korean natural farming suggests charcoal+wood+green waste + imo4 + fpj + lab.
Can I make do without the charcoal? its expensive.
You can make you own charcoal. Search ‘biochar’ but yes you can make without
Chris Trump Hey man, thanks for the reply.
Im having trouble finding sufficient "green waste", my father suggests that I use sand that come from the beach.
Will IMOs thrive in beach sand?
Just increase the wood chips :)
Chris Trump So beach sand is okay, as long as i increase the wood chips?
:) sorry, I was unclear. Beach sand isn’t helpful for this process. If you can’t get green, just increase wood chips
Can Liquid IMO from IMO2 works or replace IMO4? I am asking because it's hard to get OHN ingredients where I am (Nigeria)
Just do everything without OHN :)
Chris Trump ohh I can make IMO4 without OHN?
Yep
Big thanks. I will start the journey and let you know how it goes.
What is iron morphor?
IMO, indigenous Micro Organisms
Dumping a few (or more) million soldier fly larvae will be a good thing to top that off with.
I want but I don't know
hi chris! I'm sorry to write about another topic under this video but I have a problem. I can not do the imo2! as soon as I add the sugar to the rice, the water comes out making everything very wet. strange thing since the rice was out longer than expected and it was dry. Perhaps I cooked it too much and it absorbed too much water?
Thanks for all ur video!
You are doing it right. That is how imo2 is supposed to look
I threw away everything xD, I thought that with all that moisture would be ruined shortly, you said to put them in a dormant state and then it should be (I thought) dry. try again
Vented roof got it
What about new fresh poop of pig it goes to smell
Hugelkultur. Nice!
Thank you very much sir
💚
good
1.5x speed helps
