Thank you Justin, loved the video, but I definitely liked spending the time with you guys the most! Chores were fun, even the work you "made" me do (ha ha!) and Madison really had a good time as well, and that is saying a lot from a teenager who is not at all used to doing chores like that! Jonah is by far the hardest working 11 year old I have ever known - that boy is a beast! Can't wait to see you guys again.
You would not *believe* the number of times friends of mine have commented that, "Oh, well all farms stink." This idea that someone can start and hold a farm steady without it smelling bad is a revelation to them--usually as I start explaining intensive grazing or grass based farming they either somehow connect it back to industrial farming or zone out: educating the consumer and future farmers is the next step, I feel, to a Stewardship Farm backed America.
Your oldest sure does love doing as much as he can for the family and farm. Dang that makes me smile real big. I truly hope you continue to share the growth of y'alls property and family with us!
Hi justain, I'm a big fan of u, I learned a lot and just can't get enough of u and Joel Salatin. You guys deserve Nobel prize for inspiring people. Cheers man.
It depends on the farm. Here, we accept volunteers upon request. We might get one every other week for three hours. We as a family put in about 25 hours a week.
My dad had a concrete feeding floor where our pigs were. It smelled and every so often we had to scrape off the dried manure and bedding, scraping the slop. Your way is so so so much better than concrete. The flies were terrible.
I can promise you that we didn't stage any of that for the video - there was absolutely no smell, my daughter even commented on that, and I didn't see a single fly!! This is a truly revolutionary way to be able to keep pigs in a small space.
Justin, I noticed when you climbed over the pig fence in the woods, there was poison ivy. Do you get it?? Reason I am asking is that you had short sleeves!!!
Justin, you should visit Sugar Mountain Farm, they don't feed soy or any feed. They have a fantastic system there. Dare I say, even better than Salatin?
Grew up next to mink farm, cos and horses chickens, never pigs impressed that they don't smell. Love that country air as opposed to car exhaust fumes. Keep videos coming
There is a very interesting video from the Crocker Homestead about how to use those fly traps like the one you have up there on your pig pen. There are some "secrets" to it... perhaps you would be interested in watching it! If you do it properly, it traps thousands of flies!

Do volunteer farm-hands play a big role in a sizable acreage farm? I’ve been learning a lot from your videos ✊🏾

If there were wholesome kids movies out now your boys would be heartthrob stars. So handsome. Happy father's day!
My homestead and channel will hopefully be just like this!!!!
My neighbors are saying NO to me bringing in few pigs. I keep saying no odor if I do it correctly
