I'm hearing similar issues in the US and UK with material prices and shortages

Fingers crossed the vaccine will change all of this and we also hope that when it doe steh price rise is retracted, but I guess that is just wishful thinking?

Hi Andrew Thanks for the update. Will you be including some of these additional wall types in PDB or is the plan to allow designers to set up some of these configurations?

Hi Dave, you will notice new options for wall types inside solid wall, masonry walls and clad walls that enable you to add the extra level of detail for Passive house. And yes everything will be organised and quantified which should enable you to keep clients informed on estimated costs.

Old video, but if you are having ANY conversations about passive science and wall assemblies, one needs to clearly state what zone you are building in. In addition, if you are talking about materials you need to state where you are

Ok, thanks, that's good advice. Since our PlusSpec user base is all over the world, it is tough to add specifics as each area has different requirements. If you've got a few special requests, could you ask them on the forum? Note you can access the forum from inside each PlusSpec tool. Also we just about to update the forum to make it easier to use so maybe hold on for a week or two.
      Thanks for commenting. 👍

I wish people would stick to talking about what they know

Thanks for the feedback Michael, we know building and the availability of materials, we are always interested in learning more though so please feel free to share a link.
I think the key points to be taken from the video are: availability of material locally, and price associated to keep the project progressing due to transport delays due to Covid. The actual methodology and selection of any system, wall system, roof system or floor system is that of the designer. Maybe that could have been clearer?

@@PlusSpec I agree with the availability of material being an issue most defiantly. However there are many ways to build a passive house and they can be completely different between climates. A good designer should be looking at more sustainable ways to build in the current environment anyway.

@@michaelcousins3177 Yep agreed, and thanks for commenting. Andrew would like to go along to a training day on Passive house, if you have any advice on courses it would be much appreciated. We have a lot of Passive home builders using PlusDesignbuild now to create rooves and walls on more efficient homes. Here are some of the questions we receive you might like to chime in plusspec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8673
