I never get tired of watching this historic rail journey in Greece, I think it is the best Greek rail film on RUclips with the excursion trip second! The final run to Korinth at 122 minutes with great views of the Akrokorinth mountain ahead is spectacular! David
I am watching this again reliving the trip I made in 1972 Tripoli to Nafplion. Regular service doesn't exist anymore but I do hope special excursion trains will keep going in the future! Again many thanks and much gratitude for uploading this video. Cheers David
I am following the line on the old Lascelles 1:300,000 mainland Greece map, shows Steno!!! Partheni, Agia Sofia etc. Wow the line gets very scenic after Partheni! Engineering! Travelled this line in 1972 to Nafplio - then Nafplio to Athens! Wonderful memories. Could I ask the year when this was filmed? Many thanks for your film and best wishes.
Somebody calculated that it would be cheaper for the railway to send all the passengers by taxi than to run trains to carry them, and that was the death-knell for the line. Mycenae is at 1.26.

yeah the greek metric railways closed around 2007, with only a tiny portion still operating

Can you upload the Kalamata-Tripolis rail video as well ?
I believe there are some videos of a "special" train Tripoli to Kalamata and then Pirgos by the Hellenic Rail Club.
