Sorry for the late reply, but I think there is a symbolic meaning of him dying alone in his bed. In the first issue of the comics, Rick was alone in his hospital bed when he woke up wearing a shirt/gown and underwear. When he woke up, he immediately made it his objective to find out what was happening and find his family. When he exited his hospital room, he found a new threat and that was walkers (this is important). Going forward in time to his death, we can see that he is alone in his bed, wearing just a shirt and underwear. Then gets killed by a human and not a walker. This is symbolic because ever since he woke up into the apocalypse, he has learned that walkers are the real threat. However, an underlying theme of the walking dead is that walkers are a threat, but even a bigger threat are humans (other survivors). Therefore, it was poetic that Rick would be killed by a human rather than a walker in his own bed. Another symbolism in his tragic death is his family. When he woke up in the first issue, Rick made it his mission to find his family. Fast forward to his death and we see that its his family that finds him in his own bed/room. Lastly, him dying via gun shot. The only reason Rick was in a coma prior to the apocalypse was that he got shot by a man he didn't know was there. Fast forward to his death, he gets killed by a man he didn't see coming and he gets shot and left laying in his bed similar how the man in the first issue shot him and left Rick lying in a coma in a hospital bed.
@@delgat000 well yes, but I meant alone on his death bed. Prior to his death, he was sleeping alone. Then he gets killed and is left to bleed to death alone in his bed.
Yeah that was a weird change. Especially Lori. I think her original look was better. But after that wonderfully drawn first volume, everybody looked old and grumpy.
I think Kirkman’s response makes enough sense. Rick had been beat up, cut up, broken, and knocked down countless times throughout his run in the apocalypse but he always survived because the world needed him. They needed Rick to lead. Rick’s intervention in the Commonwealth served his purpose. Rick evolved into what the apocalypse needed him to be and once he served that purpose and saved the Commonwealth, his time had come. He made the world better for Carl. Sebastian was just the new worlds way of saying that the man Rick Grimes had become was no longer needed. He wasn’t made for that world so when he let his guard down for the first time in so long, he died.
That's bullshit.... Rick deserved to finally live and love. You don't thank a man who saved your life, by killing him, because he served his purpose. Maybe he wanted to live too. Rick should've lived, telling his granddaughter a bedtime story about how he fixed the cruel, brutal, maniacal, disgusting world. He deserved more than a thank you.. Killing him was a mistake

Think about this too, everyone wanted to see Negan in the Comic's last issue but wait because by this time Carl is obviously somewhere in his 30s, Negan is an OLD MAN! Remember in the Comic Negan met Carl as a 10 year old when he and Rick were somewhere in their 30s. 20 years later Negan is almost 60yrs old. What is the fandom really expecting from him, I think Kirkman wanted to leave off with the image of a young NEGAN in the minds of the fans... not show him as, perhaps, a now broken down Old Man.
@@matchclock5 He ain't Negan if he's not talking' trash right?! I really think Kirkman wanted to avoid having to show Negan fans that he had 'aged'. This way, most will remember him as that 'bat welding' 'trash talking' guy, lol!
Nah!!! I agree with your first point, he should have been killed in Alexandria or one of the other communities where he literally did BUILD a world that was now SAFE for everyone in it. I think the idea of ENDING the Main show with the Rick movies is a GOOD one! They could also bring in Morgan into the Movies and in essence signal the end of Fear. And write ENTIRELY different aspects of the Walking Dead universe without any 'hinderances' from the Comic fandom about 'Canon' or 'purity' or any of that stuff. Then we could get the Rick/ Morgan reunion as well as a Rick /Michonne reunion (perhaps the kids end up with with him at the end of Movie 2 and then they are 'GROWN' by Movie 3.
I really would've liked to have seen an explanation for what happened to Alexandria, Hilltop after Rick's death etc. In between the flash forward from 192 to 193.
I feel like that Aaron will get Ricks comic death. I say this because Aaron looks a lot like comic Rick also they have changed characters death for example in the show Denise got Abes comic book death.
Eh, too small of a character, as much as I love him. It either has to be someone who has been in the show for a long time, or someone with important ties to Rick specifically. So either Daryl, Carol, Negan, or Rick in the movies. Daryl and Carol probably will not die, as they are the last two major characters left, Negan is very popular, but also very likely, as he adopted Rick's ideology in the decade spent in the cell. He does, however, provide a weird humor to the show that no other character can fulfill. Rick dying like this in the movies is probably the most likely, imo, because, well...it's Rick, and its massively important event. And if the Commonwealth arc is tied into, or downplayed compared to the upcoming CRM storyline, which I believe is the case, we may not even get this death in the show, especially with the explanation Kirkman gave.
@@ImNera rich lost a arm in the comics Aaron lost a arm in the show. Rick also has short hair in the comics Aarin also has short hair. Your the one who makes no sense " lol "
I actually think Negan will be getting Rick's comic death. Something about his story just makes me think he will have his redemption and take rick's spot.
I think Daryl could get it, he's taking a leader role, his plot armor is thick as hell. I'm convinced someone will kill Daryl the same way Sebastian killed Rick. Hell - maybe it'll even be Sebastian.
Honestly I wouldn't change it. Objectively most people don't die a heroic death, often death is random, senseless, and normal. His death was symbolic and tragic in the context of what the author was aiming. It sucks but it's because it sucks is why its a good death
I don’t see how Rick getting killed in that way is a happy ending at all. After fighting to live all these years, only to get murdered by a coward really sucks.
I estimate since it took 100 issues to get to negan and 84 tv episodes and the comics only go to issue 192 i estimate there are probably 3 seasons left for the tv show after 10 ends if there is no filler episodes. Cus before season 6 premiered the show runners said there was enough material to go for a further 12 seasons but back then we were under the impression there was gonna be 300 issues but kirkman stopped it short of 200 so do the math the walking dead should be over by 2024 at the latest with all this virus stuff going on. 😞
So I was reading through comments and someone mentioned comic rick having darlys hair what if Daryl gets comic ricks death ? I don’t think it would happen but hey
I thought the same thing its probably why the actor of rick grimes left the show and the character aaron taking his place kinda make sense though same can be said with darly a character that doesn't exist in the comics but Dwight is supposedly the the one in the walking dead tv show but is in the fear the walking dead show instead. The show isnt the best after they writed off Carls character is seemed like the old showrunner purposely did that because of how the things where going during the Negan ark the show had lower ratings after glen died and the show seemed like it never recovered from it and fear the walking dead series started to be more prevalent then the original. The new show runner seems like to improve the show and to work with what they have left with the cast members. Even the lines of the character Henry where for carl's lines.
Thank you so much for your long and wonderful explanation, I was really confused what the hell is going on! Yes, I agree with you in everything you said. After season seven, the series has fallen, but we hope that they can finish this great series and all the characters with the end they deserve! Now we only have hope.
@@ahmedbarwarii I also hope the producers stick to their word about making the TWD movie of rick grimes, heck I dont even care if he is on it or not I just wanna see the twd movie. @@knightairsoftwarrior Our thinking seems to be very similar! I also think so, I really want to see the movie at all costs because they should at least do it in honor of Rick's great character and in honor of such a great work.
Just didn't need to die. I always liked the thought of "Rick being the cure" and being unkillable. I mean, the comics aren't exactly great, and they use the TV Series to fix the mistakes they made, [and they still didnt fix a few] I just don't think Rick should die in the TV-series or movies, I don't know where their going for Rick and in what direction, but it just wouldn't make sense to see him die.
I refuse to believe Kirkman didn't had any more ideas to end the comics than this! regardless if Rick would die or not. It seems he ended it just to end! without having a reason why it should end. Though, if they give this death on to another character besides Rick! i hope it's something done better than the arc Comic Rick death happened.
only thing that I hated about this is how the walking dead series ended an issue later i would love to see the comics but as carl as the main character it just felt rushed
Lazy writing. Would’ve been better doing something like the tv show did(yes I know that didn’t kill him) with “The Bridge” where he lays down his life doing what he’s always done: protecting his family. Really disappointed.
The way I see it is that, Rick needed to die for the new future. Same with Dwight, their deaths were the start of a revolution that Rick wins. He becomes a hero to everyone and starts the big change.
Shane was the only character that made sense...then "Click" snap of a finger...WTF...that story line was not right...Otis saved then put down as a scape goat...didn't make any sense.
Great great video I hope they do everything you guys talked about seriously long live the Walking Dead the show can go on for another 20 years it would not bug me one bit but at some point you need to bring back Rick Andrew Lincoln needs to come back and tie everything together it's the only way the fans will be satisfied
It was disrespectful how he was killed off. Rick Grimes died alone in his boxers, which makes it pitiful. At least the last issue paid a warm tribute to Rick Grimes
I already know whose getting the rick grimes death in the show and I really hope I’m wrong and I really wouldn’t want to see this happen but Negan will get that death by Little Hershel at the end or near the end of the show and I would personally hate it but as long as it’s near the end or at the end I can deal with it but if it happens before the show is coming to an end I personally will wash my hands of the show because negan is my favorite character and I can’t find anyone as of right now I’d stick around for the show to see
Or maybee he meant that rick came from the beginning of it & he been through so much & built this world & brung his people to this so called “sanctuary” & once he start finally relaxing that’s when his instincts start dying down that even a weak link can even be a threat & he wants you to be reminded that maybe there will never be just peace
I don't buy it. Kirkman can give any excuse he wants to and I get to choose whether I believe him or not. And that's a bullshit answer he gave. He just ran out of creative juice and wanted to be done with Rick. The end.
Plain and simple, Kirkman wrote Rick and everyone else into a corner by mishandling how he wanted the story to go overall. Hey, it was a rough draft, it happens. In the show, he has kept what he liked in the comics, but made new changes that made more sense (killing Andrea and Carl, including Daryl as a central figure, etc).
Ryan Cochran Robert kirkman had nothing to do with killing carl. Kirkman from the beginning was bringing up carl into a bigger role and you can see that it ended with him. Carl died because of contract negotiations
i can: alexandria in flames filled with walkers. all communities gone to to shit as they’re in a war with a new community. rick grimes is piloting a helicopter and to win the war he must shaft suck a phalice
I wish they could've had him going out like a soldier......He survived so much that could've easily killed him......to have him die while sleeping is anti climactic
Rick should never died. Or left show. I'm disgusted. everything needs tied up when the show ends and I hope Rick wakes up from a coma with Carol being the nurse Lori and Shane really having a baby Daryl being the janitor
I would've preferred if Rick just died of a disease, would've been more tragic as it's like, after all he's been through in life would still claim him in a way he can't easily fight against. Maybe even still have Sebastian come wanting to kill him with Rick showing that he was going to die soon anyways and tells Sebastian off like a child about how he's lucky the world he built was safe enough for him to get away with the shit he tried to do since, it's not like it's impossible for a weak character to shot a gun, like half the characters started out that way. That way we get his original idea but his death feels less like a disrespect to the character and more of a, Story ending for this character. The man who fixed the world but died not longer after because of forces in nature we can't control. Happened to so many leaders boths good and bad
I believe they will give it to Daryl since he’s the one most on edge and guard never down when everything seems safe some piece of shit is going to take out our Daryl

It just felt like it was deliberately random to be random. Feel like he just didn't care anymore at that point
Nightfury Owner true but be careful Kirkman plays Lil mind tricks he probably wants us to think that.
Well he does loook and its kinda lmae that if they do kill him its this way
I’m sorry but wtf is this comment you’re reasoning is because they look similar? Lmao that makes 0 sense
@@ImNera rich lost a arm in the comics Aaron lost a arm in the show. Rick also has short hair in the comics Aarin also has short hair. Your the one who makes no sense " lol "
Rick cant die bruh so much stuff has changed so rick shouldn't die at least like that
I actually think Negan will be getting Rick's comic death. Something about his story just makes me think he will have his redemption and take rick's spot.
You think Hershel is the one to take out Negan?
I think Daryl could get it, he's taking a leader role, his plot armor is thick as hell. I'm convinced someone will kill Daryl the same way Sebastian killed Rick. Hell - maybe it'll even be Sebastian.
No just no if twd did that so many people would stop watching and they would be stupid to do that anyways
Sadly he has even more plot armour now that he’s getting his own show
seeing Rick as a walker ... disturbed me man
Your picture is Kevin!
i am kirkman's fan i would like to get more of his written movies acted
Every literation winds up ending at some point..why kirkman decided to cheapen it so much well never know
Honestly I wouldn't change it. Objectively most people don't die a heroic death, often death is random, senseless, and normal. His death was symbolic and tragic in the context of what the author was aiming.
It sucks but it's because it sucks is why its a good death
In the beginning (show) they was sleeping with one eye open. T-Dog claimed he never stopped, when they settled at the prison.remember.
Or Rick is last person on Earth.... Or Rick turns and we see what zombies think.
I have the books posted on my channel. I was so sad when Rick died. He was my favorite character.
Horrible ending for the comic in my opinion. I really hope Rick doesn’t die a cheap death at any point in the movies.
trash
I hope he never dies. I can't take him dying twice
Done in by a snot nosed brat...cheap
Great title mate. Guess I dont need to finish them now. Why was this even in my recommended?
Comics- Rick died and Carl survived
Show- Carl died, Rick survived
Comics>show 100%
Can I just get the short answer
So I was reading through comments and someone mentioned comic rick having darlys hair what if Daryl gets comic ricks death ? I don’t think it would happen but hey
interesting
im so late but that made so much sense im no longer mad with the ending now that its in context
Isn't that aaron not rick? His arm is cut why no one is taking about that?
If anything they should of introduce tell tale series of the walking dead video game into the tv show to revive the show!
@@knightairsoftwarrior Our thinking seems to be very similar! I also think so, I really want to see the movie at all costs because they should at least do it in honor of Rick's great character and in honor of such a great work.
Someone else made the world safe. Rick was just one of several squabbling warlords and he finally took over the commonwealth.
Rick Grimes: A man who can never get his own sons name right
only thing that I hated about this is how the walking dead series ended an issue later i would love to see the comics but as carl as the main character it just felt rushed
Personally I felt the ending was okay but I the comic ending felt so abrupt
I'm a little fuzzy on which issue it was in which Rick built and founded the Commonwealth? Oh, he didn't? Weird lol.
I am so sorry , I've read it as Robert Kinkman
why rick looks like Aron?
You mean why does Aaron look like comic Rick..?
To whoever reads this, I see this happening to Daryl on the show since Commonwealth was just introduced.
Nah
nah aaron is gonna get ricks death
Lazy writing. Would’ve been better doing something like the tv show did(yes I know that didn’t kill him) with “The Bridge” where he lays down his life doing what he’s always done: protecting his family. Really disappointed.
Honestly, that's a really cheesy and unimaginative hero's death. I'm glad they did it over that any day.
@@BryantheArchivist totally agree, it's more realistic
That makes a lot of sense.
It makes sense because Rick fixed the commonwealth, and without him it would’ve went to hell.
Holy crap I never knew the comics ended three years ago and ended like that. I stopped paying to it after it got worse
Rick Grimes: i found them
Great great video I hope they do everything you guys talked about seriously long live the Walking Dead the show can go on for another 20 years it would not bug me one bit but at some point you need to bring back Rick Andrew Lincoln needs to come back and tie everything together it's the only way the fans will be satisfied
Since Carl died in the TV series, Rick should live. It has to balance out somehow right? Why am I asking... I need a hobby
It was disrespectful how he was killed off. Rick Grimes died alone in his boxers, which makes it pitiful. At least the last issue paid a warm tribute to Rick Grimes
I guess killing those saviors while they slept played a part in his death
I already know whose getting the rick grimes death in the show and I really hope I’m wrong and I really wouldn’t want to see this happen but Negan will get that death by Little Hershel at the end or near the end of the show and I would personally hate it but as long as it’s near the end or at the end I can deal with it but if it happens before the show is coming to an end I personally will wash my hands of the show because negan is my favorite character and I can’t find anyone as of right now I’d stick around for the show to see
I think its Daryl
If negan dies we riot tf people woulz stop watching
@@neiljohnsemaning6227 nah daryl is not a talker and a saver like Rick was
@@goldenhd9656 well if negan dies at the end of the show like rick there wouldn't be a point to riot because at that point the shows over anyway
Agreed, if Hershel kills Negan, he will become the shows most hated character.
Or maybee he meant that rick came from the beginning of it & he been through so much & built this world & brung his people to this so called “sanctuary” & once he start finally relaxing that’s when his instincts start dying down that even a weak link can even be a threat & he wants you to be reminded that maybe there will never be just peace
damn man.. i didn't knew that they also killed Rick in the comic version
i stop reading this shit after Andrea died..
I think Aaron is gettingg Rick's death in the show.
I don't buy it. Kirkman can give any excuse he wants to and I get to choose whether I believe him or not. And that's a bullshit answer he gave. He just ran out of creative juice and wanted to be done with Rick. The end.
I think Daryl be last man standing
Plain and simple, Kirkman wrote Rick and everyone else into a corner by mishandling how he wanted the story to go overall. Hey, it was a rough draft, it happens. In the show, he has kept what he liked in the comics, but made new changes that made more sense (killing Andrea and Carl, including Daryl as a central figure, etc).
Ryan Cochran Robert kirkman had nothing to do with killing carl. Kirkman from the beginning was bringing up carl into a bigger role and you can see that it ended with him. Carl died because of contract negotiations
Can't think of a better ending for the character.
i can: alexandria in flames filled with walkers. all communities gone to to shit as they’re in a war with a new community. rick grimes is piloting a helicopter and to win the war he must shaft suck a phalice
Him dying to cancer while in bed all alone would be better
Spoilers by titel.... perfect
Who's he cuz of the walking dead
Kirkman should just tell the truth and tell us that he had no more thoughts left to write up to 300 issues.....
Even though he isn't really dead in the show, I like his exit way much better then this
In the show it's going to be aaron. Think about it, a missing hand, same beard and hair.
In comics Carl is alive and Rick is dead in tv show Carl is dead and rick is alive
I would have preferred our community to create the Commonwealth themselves instead of it being an already existing community
one day rick will get an police officer again
goingfullin what does this even mean
He never died.. i trust him
Ajay Rathore what does this even mean
What???? Rick didn't die?? I'm confused
Yea, jardis took him in helicopter
Comics and show are different
Yeah, he was still alive when he was taken on the helicopter.
In the Comic he died
I believe they will give it to Daryl since he’s the one most on edge and guard never down when everything seems safe some piece of shit is going to take out our Daryl
Comic book rick has daryls hair
I wouldve been pissed if the tv sebastian killed Rick
Honestly a better ending than the show but also it made me angry at first but it made sense to me later on
Honestly the ending with Carl having a kid was sooooo cliche and predictable. Kinda disappointing.
