- As we usher in the beginning of our 2023 air show season, we welcome a new commanding officer and flight leader, CDR Alex Armatas. CDR Armatas relieves CAPT Brian Kesselring as the 38th "Boss," and is ready to lead our team into our 77th season.
The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase the teamwork and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through flight demonstrations and community outreach while inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country.
I am I die hard blue angel fan I have a full set flight suit ahelmet every thing I am happy that this change of command was put in the right hands
Indianapolis Indiana here! Today was one of the best days in my life! The Angels flew over my house several times! I got great pictures and cried a lot my memory of my Dad taking the family to watch them has always been a blessing! I’m 67 now and Dad was Air Force. Between the Blue Angels and the ThunderBirds what a thrill and a joy! Blessings to you all! This is what America is all about! Enjoying family and such great Pilots and soldiers!
Blue Angel Phantoms recently did an recently did an interview with Cmdr Armatas and in seeing that I am very pleased to say that like his predecessor CAPT Kesselring that Alex will do a fine job leading the team throughout his tenure!!!

I've been binge watching the Blue Angels lately and feel a little like I know some of them particulately Capt Kesselring, Best Wishes in his retirement and the new Captain. This is lovely to see such tradition, don't ever lose it,God Bless America🙏🙏👍😉
