Did legends ever explicitly say the Yuuzhan Vong threat was part of the motivation for Papa Palpatine building super weapons like the Death Star? We're kidding ourselves if we think that's the only reason, but it opens an entertaining if flawed line of argument that the Empire wasn't so bad.
I mean the Emperor knew and worked with the Chiss who would have known of the Vong. He probably didn't expect them to arrive anytime soon, but wanted some insurance in case they sought to disrupt his trade routes and such.
Outbound flight. He knew the Vong were a threat but that's not why he wanted an empire. He wanted to rule forever through tyranny making sure any being Jedi or being couldn't stop him is all that mattersn
The real reason the Vong didn't invade earlier was because it would have conflicted with other stories being written. I doubt they would've been able to take Disney-canon's Empire seriously with how scaled down it is. Before anyone says it (again), I'm aware that the Yuuzhan Vong aren't part of Disney canon. Anyways: Can you breakdown what is by far the largest space battle in the entire franchise? *The* *Battle* *of* *Yuuzhan'tar!* I have made this request: one-hundred-four times.
If you are to invade, you either wait til an area has peace and have calmed down. Or you strike right after a big war when most of the stronger enemys are worn down/tired or destroyed. If you attack in the middle of a war you might have to fight two strong sides at the same time.
i always wondered why the Empire needed so many Planet Destroying weapons, and why Palpatine allowed the resources to be used on them. now i know. after checking out the Yuuzhan Vong and it's battle power etc, i completely understand why Palpatine wanted those weapons made. not only did he plan the Clone Wars, but since he knew about the Yuuzhan Vong, he planned for them too i think. it would make sense as to why he had so many incredibly powerful weapons and ships made. like, the fact the Empire collectively had 30,000+ Star Destroyers and at least 700 or so Super Star Destroyers, all of whom they needed only one of to take over a quadrant with the right man leading the units on the ship. The Empire was terrifying, and made Disney's little wannabe, the First Order, look like a complete Cosplay at best of what the empire had and could do.

And this Empire VS Yuuzhan Vong has got my imagination wheeling in overdrive err hyperdrive :D
Because humanity never met another sapient species/their remnants until The Covenant showed up in Harvest/Humanity found out about the Forerunners. If you see the progress of humanity pre to post Human- Covenant war you can see a lot of progress made. Plasma weaponry, shielding, more powerful capital ships, etc. All of that is reverse engineered from alien technology.
Humanity had an almost 200 year period of peace after colonizing began. They had no need to out do another human faction in the military department which is why they still use ballistics weapons and just started really getting into energy based towards the middle of the war
I think the Vong waited as long as they did out of a case of psychological bias. In their home galaxy, they ended up destroying everything because of a deep and abiding inability to peacefully coexist with others. They probably expected the New Republic to continue to battle the Imperial Remnant until one or both were completely destroyed. The idea that the two warring groups could come to a rapproachement and just stop fighting would be alien to the Vong leadership's mindset.
Palpatine actually expected the Yuuzhan Vong, which is why he immediately militarized his Empire following the its creation. And when the Empire kept using conventional war tactics when the Rebellion were using the opposite, it doomed them to destruction. But the Rebels doomed themselves because they wanted a rEpUbLiC. So, even if Palpatine was Sith and the Empire messed up several times, I would've fallen in line pretty quickly and would have feared AND respected the Empire enough to serve it.
I believe Thrawn is not the only one who have the brilliant mind like him..... imagine there is actually a lot of them in the Empire and Thrawn team up with them to fight against the enemy..... they enemy is definitely screwed
Excellent video I remember reading the new Jedi order series when they first came out and the the Timothy Zahn books Survivors Quest and Outbound flight and remember it being implied that the Vong already attacked or probed the Chiss ascendancy and were utterly beaten this is when they turned their sights on the New Republic. Also there was a reference to the Vong with regards to attacking Zenoma Sekot before the Clone wars (the book was Rogue Planet) thus proving the were at least probing the outer rim early on. Just wanted to let you know in case you missed either of these references, seeing as how the Chiss and the Yuuzhan Von have to be the coolest species in the SWU.
I think that the reason, as to why the Yuuzang Vong waited so long to attack, was that by analizing what was going on, they reached a conclusion that the longer they wait, the weaker the Galaxy will become. However, this could not last for a long time. Imagine the morale on the Vong ships after such a long journey. Everyone would be tired of waiting, eager to attack, to prove their worthness and to gain glory. With each month of halt, Yuuzan Vong leaders would lose more and more support as rumours of their weakness and cowerdness would spread.
And question how long you think the vong would have last if the Thrawn clone survived and was working with adirmal Acbar and a unified galaxy and what would be the after shock
It would be cool to speculate on an early Vong invasion running up against Thrawn- possibly with a reluctant New Republic following his lead and a better Empire led by Thrawn and the Jedi resulting from the war.
UNSC Marines all the say. Sure, ONI is an evil shadow council at this point, but what little civilian life we see in Halo doesn't seem so bad (assuming we're referencing post war UEG), so I'll probably head off to a nice retirement some years later.
I haven't read those books, but I think the Voong did a good thing in waiting for the galaxy to stabilize a bit before moving in. If they struck during the civil war, the rebel and empire would have formed an alliance of sort to repel them. If they struck right after the war, the pockets of empire resistance would have stopped resisting the new Republic. Plus, at any of these moments the war machine was already rolling. It takes time for a military infrastructure to get up to speed.
Agree not after or before thrawn he is the literal bogey man also not operation shadow hand cause the emperor and sure u can say after that last part but u gave good point on the empire and rebs joining side by side also my little head canon says they needed to reach the galaxy because they were still traveling. ALSO a LOT of people died from ALL the wars the galaxy fought and man made desieases that were created and I’m willing to believe that part of the reason for the vong to invade so easily is that a LOT of people died and good people with knowledge. One more thing about the vong not invading is that going with they needed to get to the galaxy first there connection might not be solid and miss information could have happened plus they might want to wait for any more imperials with a ace of there sleeve.
I am really digging the idea of these daily questions! My question is this: how do you think Thrawn would have earned the support of the whole galaxy to face the Yuuzhan Vong? There were certainly enough anti-empire hardliners in the New Republic that would dismiss any movement to be once again “ruled” by an Imperial. So how could Thrawn do it?
O, I did, I played with the 1992 version. :D My brother and me made a small empire next to the New Republic, because we were sure the galaxy is huge and far more dangerous than Thrawn or Zsinj, etc. It was far before the New Jedi Order... :D

I know, lame out of universe reason, but I feel like in this case it's hard to ignore it. Because you're right, if it was up to the Vong they would have invaded during one of the other crises.
If they invaded right after the Black Fleet Crisis the New Republic wouldn't stand a chance. Though I still think the different Imperial Factions would have probably cooperated with the New Republic in that case.
@@natedouglass5119 i know this is an old comment but i just wanted to put my comment here, Dave Filoni was actually planning on bringing the Vong during The Clone Wars but due to the show being canceled and only making it to 7 seasons instead of 8, we never saw them
As soon as the Vong heard about a metal moon they would flip their staffs and go all in on destroying the deathstar since it was the antithesis to their living homeworld.
Now if they could have beaten it is different.

I think Palpatine would have allowed the vong to take as much of the galaxy, so he could liberate the galaxy and be seen as a hero like after the clone wars
Did the Star Wars universe ever have an AI/droid uprising?
Are there certain laws of robotics built into every droid to prevent such a thing?
Up rising in legends no I don’t think so but u had one robot the most dangerous type and it’s the one that fought with the Mandalorian to get baby yoda put itself into the Death Star to make a robot rebellion but it was destroyed in new hope and the galaxy that the Vong came from had a war with 2 AI and the galaxy was destroyed because of it and they became the vong because of that war and hated all AI sense then and why they went to the main Galaxy so eh kinda.
Also yea I think it’s something with there programming but also not cause c3po is a thing.
Also I think a little droid uprising happened but not during or after the clone wars it was before but fact check that
There have been moments where Droids have done such things. There are instances of droids having free will (Droid Bounty Hunters being the most obvious) but there was an attempted genocide of all organics. Search up Directive 7
No ,most of the times droids are never subject to great innovations in regards to personal sentience and even greater intelligence .They retain the same level of intelligence for some reason for thousands upon thousands of years .I don't think there is something that is like the scientific method in the star wars galaxy due to the mind-bending lack of progress in technology despite great lengths of time being passed in the galaxy .Though there are instances of hyper-intelligent droids created by advanced civilizations that had went extinct a long time ago .I can't exactly recall the precise name but they did develop the eternal fleet which vitiate had gotten his hands on and Gemini Droids but they were all destroyed by the Jedi and the republic
IG-88 tried to hijack the second Death Star as part of a plan to start a droid revolution, but it didn't work out well because, well, the second Death Star was destroyed.

How would the vong stack up against the covenant of halo?
That depends: do the Covenant get any of the halo rings? Those things alone would wipe out not only the Vong, but their weaponry.
@@z3r0_35 I would say no, the covenant couldn't even get their hands on one that didn't get imedeatly anahalated.
The covenant are more powerful in every aspect, they would definitely win. But not that easily, the vong won't go down without a fight.
covenant
the covenant don't even have mastery over the galaxy, not nearly in the same way as the new republic even in their shambles did.
Humanity with only 2500 AD technology(and a handful of colony world's worth of population) almost came close to beating them(the covenant).
What makes you think an amalgamation of fleets of star ships that could make high charity's defense force look like a single regiment who can barely stand a chance against the Vong? IDK where you're thinking.
The covenant don't even have control over their weapon systems. The new republic won the war through innovation and arms' races. The covenant can't even figure out how to fire their ships correctly(from the books, cortana fires their plasma cannons like a sentinel beam, as originally intended), let alone innovate to that extent
What happened to your Empire at War; Awakening of the Rebellion. Also If you could be an Fleet Admiral of any Star Wars faction which would you be in?
CIS. A flexible, fast and easily replaceable fleet with heavy firepower and swarms of advanced AI starfighters (mainly Tri-Droids).
If we are talking about large factions, then Chiss Ascendacy.
Minor factions well... my favourite SW species' fleet I guess
If I could choose in which factions I would like to be an fleet admiral then I would choose the republic and the empire 'cause those were the 2 most powerful and strongest factions.
New Republic or the CW Republic, excelent ships and starfighters
Hi
Had the Empire and Palpatine survive to see the Vong, they would've annihilated the Vong and see to it that their galaxy was invaded
Sidius mistake was not to listen to Thrawn warnings earlier on and grant him access to military rank that wouldve dwarted the rebellion before it got widespreaded. He had to painstakingly get access to his peak after years of wins pushing him to what " a race devoted to tactical warfare" could be of use of early on his (Palps) hegemonization of the galactic order.
Imagine the carnage and destruction if the Empire lived long enough to meet the yuzon vong threat.
I doubt they would've been able to take Disney-canon's Empire seriously with how scaled down it is. Before anyone says it (again), I'm aware that the Yuuzhan Vong aren't part of Disney canon.
I know you'll get to this in the finale of the Vong sub-series. Won't stop me from going through the motions though.
Anyways: Can you breakdown what is by far the largest space battle in the entire franchise? *The* *Battle* *of* *Yuuzhan'tar!* I have made this request: one-hundred-four times.

Hey Eck! Looking forward to your next Empire at war vid!
Q: Do you guys think the First Order timed the Hosnian Cataclysm to coincide with the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War in 34 ABY?
You should do a video on Yuuzhan Vong weaponry
The YUUZHAN VONG are the most 90's comicbook characters to ever be created.
Will definitely be awaiting that more comprehensive breakdown video of a Vong versus Empire war.

I would love to see an Infinities series about the Vong versus the Empire.
Why is UNSC Technological Advancement so minimal when compared to other SCI-FI Human factions.
TheFi0r3 ok lol. Thanks man. That honestly makes a lot of sense
Stagnation?
UNSC is supposed to be a realistic depiction of Modern-day humanity as a tier 3 species 500 years from now.
Humanity had an almost 200 year period of peace after colonizing began. They had no need to out do another human faction in the military department which is why they still use ballistics weapons and just started really getting into energy based towards the middle of the war

That's not how democracy/senate works though
@@nerramedivh3563
Ah yes democracies can't fight while dictatorships can... that's why the axis won the second world war...
I think Palpatine and the Empire would have done better, yes.
Jason, you might want to do the question thing with Patreon as well. Just got your back!!
WHY WAS THIS NOT THE SEQUEL TRILOGY?????

They also feared the Emperors most secret, most deadly super weapon. Code named: The Holiday Special. It was especially deadly to them.
Sidious would have genocided the Vong
Great video! Please do more videos on the vong. They are my favorite now legends part of Star Wars.

If the Vong decided to attack the empire, Thrawn would have made mincemeat of them
I believe Thrawn is not the only one who have the brilliant mind like him..... imagine there is actually a lot of them in the Empire and Thrawn team up with them to fight against the enemy..... they enemy is definitely screwed
What is the strongest faction to ever participate in the starwars universe?
Would love to see a fuller vid about Vong vs Empire
The Vong likely knew the Empire would murder them.
Luke himself went looking for evidence of any remaining imperial super weapons to help fight the Vong.
Cause Sidious would single handedly dispatch most of them...
Great title card! That grin Palpatine has especially
Love the video EckhartsLadder keep up the good work🙂🙂🙂
And question how long you think the vong would have last if the Thrawn clone survived and was working with adirmal Acbar and a unified galaxy and what would be the after shock
It would be cool to speculate on an early Vong invasion running up against Thrawn- possibly with a reluctant New Republic following his lead and a better Empire led by Thrawn and the Jedi resulting from the war.
What if the IMC (Before Demeter) attacked the Empire?
Do a Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Fluidic Space and war against Species 8472! 61st try.
Which one of these would you prefer to join? Imperial Stormtroopers, UNSC Marines, Imperial Guard or the Alliance army from Mass Effect?
UNSC Marines all the say. Sure, ONI is an evil shadow council at this point, but what little civilian life we see in Halo doesn't seem so bad (assuming we're referencing post war UEG), so I'll probably head off to a nice retirement some years later.
For the Emperor.
How many holes does a straw have?

I am really digging the idea of these daily questions!
My question is this: how do you think Thrawn would have earned the support of the whole galaxy to face the Yuuzhan Vong? There were certainly enough anti-empire hardliners in the New Republic that would dismiss any movement to be once again “ruled” by an Imperial. So how could Thrawn do it?

@@nickvinsable3798 It's easy. Everything is going wrong, and it still endures. Must be a good system somehow.
