    Well...
    30.000 star destroyers
    Trillions of soldiers
    Millions of starfighters
At least 3 planet-destroying super weapons
The fourth most powerfull sith of all time
Hundreds of super star destroyers(including the Eclipse)
    The Sunkiller
I mean...everyone should fear the Empire. The rebels had a LOT of plot armor during the Civil War.

against thousands of systems, civilisations and cultures. The civil war in star wars is much larger than we can see in the movies, it's a galaxy wide conflict. Also not all superweapons, dreadnaughts and fleets were available everywhere all the time which is exactly the weakness the rebels used.

Imperial Super Weapons were vulnerable to the Rebels, NR since they were aware of their technical faults, the Vong were more unaware of their faults and more consumed with their pride as a superior warrior race, they probably would have wanted to challenge the Empire's might, which whould have played into the Empire's hand by allowing them to use their combined firepower against the Vong from the getgo.

Ground battle were definitely the weakness of the late stage empire. And given that by A New Hope all the Inquisitors were dead, they didn't have any true warriors besides Vader anymore, just soldiers. But, the Empires overwhelming power for space battles would have ended the Vong quickly, especially with Thrawn commanding the fleets and Vader leading the geound forces. However, I still think the Clone Wars era Old Republic would have defeated the Vong the easiest. The clone were far better soldiers than either the Empire's stormtroopers, or the New Republic's conscripted military, and there were waaaaaaaaaaay more Jedi who could have dealt massive casualties. Vong warriors would stand no chance against Mace Windu, Kenobi, Yoda, Ahsoka, or Anakin, and their batallions of Jango clones. Plus with Maul and Dooku being around, sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

The covenant don't even have control over their weapon systems. The new republic won the war through innovation and arms' races. i always wondered why the Empire needed so many Planet Destroying weapons, and why Palpatine allowed the resources to be used on them.
now i know. after checking out the Yuuzhan Vong and it's battle power etc, i completely understand why Palpatine wanted those weapons made. not only did he plan the Clone Wars, but since he knew about the Yuuzhan Vong, he planned for them too i think. it would make sense as to why he had so many incredibly powerful weapons and ships made. like, the fact the Empire collectively had 30,000+ Star Destroyers and at least 700 or so Super Star Destroyers, all of whom they needed only one of to take over a quadrant with the right man leading the units on the ship.
The Empire was terrifying, and made Disney's little wannabe, the First Order, look like a complete Cosplay at best of what the empire had and could do.

I think the Vong waited as long as they did out of a case of psychological bias. In their home galaxy, they ended up destroying everything because of a deep and abiding inability to peacefully coexist with others. They probably expected the New Republic to continue to battle the Imperial Remnant until one or both were completely destroyed. The idea that the two warring groups could come to a rapproachement and just stop fighting would be alien to the Vong leadership's mindset.

Palpatine actually expected the Yuuzhan Vong, which is why he immediately militarized his Empire following the its creation. And when the Empire kept using conventional war tactics when the Rebellion were using the opposite, it doomed them to destruction. But the Rebels doomed themselves because they wanted a rEpUbLiC. So, even if Palpatine was Sith and the Empire messed up several times, I would've fallen in line pretty quickly and would have feared AND respected the Empire enough to serve it.

I think that the reason, as to why the Yuuzang Vong waited so long to attack, was that by analizing what was going on, they reached a conclusion that the longer they wait, the weaker the Galaxy will become.
However, this could not last for a long time. Imagine the morale on the Vong ships after such a long journey. Everyone would be tired of waiting, eager to attack, to prove their worthness and to gain glory. With each month of halt, Yuuzan Vong leaders would lose more and more support as rumours of their weakness and cowerdness would spread.

If they struck during the civil war, the rebel and empire would have formed an alliance of sort to repel them. If they struck right after the war, the pockets of empire resistance would have stopped resisting the new Republic.
Plus, at any of these moments the war machine was already rolling. It takes time for a military infrastructure to get up to speed.

ALSO a LOT of people died from ALL the wars the galaxy fought and man made desieases that were created and I’m willing to believe that part of the reason for the vong to invade so easily is that a LOT of people died and good people with knowledge.
One more thing about the vong not invading is that going with they needed to get to the galaxy first there connection might not be solid and miss information could have happened plus they might want to wait for any more imperials with a ace of there sleeve.

@@nickvinsable3798 It's easy. Everything is going wrong, and it still endures. Must be a good system somehow. In Star Wars for example you have in the spawn of like 50 years crisis after crisis that change governments. In the Imperium? Going on stable for thousands of years. Even if it's because some decisions, that seem at least poor, if not horrible, end up having positive effects.

Actually, if you recall the end of Aaron Allston's book "Rebel Dream", the New Republic actually DID use orbital bombardment against the Yuuzhan Vong at Borleias using the Lusankya, Rebel Dream, and the Mon Mothma, if I recall. I'll never forget Lusankya's first encounter with the Vong in that system. The way Aaron Allston wrote those couple paragraphs was absolutely Pulitzer-worthy.
