    I have an old silver-chassis EL34 model. I watch demos like this one and read up on the extra features of the 20th & wonder if I shouldn’t sell mine & try to “trade up.” Then I read folks talking about how the older models have that “magic tone” … Anybody here done a direct comparison between the older Shivas & the 20th Anny?

    great demo. Could you give me your opinion on Shiva vs Goldfinger. From your demos I can hear that Goldfinger has tighter low end especially on 68 and 77, and clean sound also bit better but that's just personal preference. Also it sounds like Goldfinger can deliver higher gain. I'm considering buying one of those two for studio use so versatility is also something to be considered.

    Hey is your amp stock? wondering what preamp tubes are used in it? been trying JJ's in mine but realized it likes the Chinese 12ax7 tubes better. Thanks!

      Yea stock. Don’t have it anymore but I definitely remember it had Chinese preamp tubes. Can’t remember what KT88s though

    Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it ?
    Was new or used , im currently looking for a bogner , but I’m torn between an Uberschall, the 20th shiva or the Helios eclipse.

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  5 лет назад

      I initially bought the Uberschall. I was looking at the 20th Shiva but an Uber popped up locally and I went for it. Ended up not being very versatile and it just got buried in a mix with another guitarist. It's main OD sound is incredible though. Have had a Helios, as well. I find them kinda boring honestly- they sound good but I never got that "Damn I don't wanna put my guitar down" feeling. The 20th Shiva was the first Bogner that gave the "Whoa- that's insane" feeling AND tons of versatility. No experience with the Eclipse but there was a lot of build up and then a lot of silence after its release which tells me something. Just my opinion, but I think the XTC and the 20th Shiva are the way to go for me.

      @@blakemansfield2356 don't sleep on the Twin Jet man! A little tricky to dial in, but once you're there it's that Uberschall tone with more cut and definition. Plus ch. 1 is a killer crunch sound which I think is more usable than the rev blue's clean which is quiet and kinda flat

    Is the boost function in the preamp, or is it a volume boost, like a 2nd master volume?

    I heard that the Bogner 3534 has an fx loop issue where it’s really noisy. Does this amp have any issues when pedals are used in the Fx loop?

    • @eguilherme1
      @eguilherme1 2 года назад

      I have both a 20th Shiva and the 3534. No issues with the effects loop in either amp.

      I swear Bogners always have a complaint about the fx loop 😂
      Admittedly, I had an Uberschall and the fx loop indeed did kinda suck

    Does this amp really have this much thick gain?

    • @SluggerStark
      @SluggerStark 5 лет назад +2

      Absolutely. It is also pretty tight, clear and has some of that angry marshall grind to it, even though it is a kt88 power section. Pretty awesome amp!

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  5 лет назад +1

      Chasingtone Yea nothing tricky here- this is the amp itself. Very thick and aggressive and totally unique.

    How did it compare to your JMP 2203 in terms of feel?

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  4 года назад +1

      JP Beaufays Man hard to say as I didn’t have them at the same time. But the Bogner has an incredible bouncy feel to it. It’s a GREAT amp.

    • @jpbeaufays
      @jpbeaufays 4 года назад

      @@blakemansfield2356 that sounds great, if for bouncy you mean a blend of touch responsiveness (the ability to clean up is what I love about my JMP) and compression under heavy attack. I just fear the Shiva to be too thick/flabby in the low end compared to my JMP 2204...

    • @MorGuitarz
      @MorGuitarz 4 года назад +1

      @@jpbeaufays compared to your JMP it most certainly does (I've owned both the 20th Shiva & the regular EL34 Shiva) it definitely has that thicker low-mids thing going on... Actually why I've moved on from them as I'm in a classic rock cover band. Bogners always seem a bit congested or thick in the low end. The Helios versions don't, however... Although I like my Wildwood edition (3 channel) Friedman Smallbox over the Helios by far

    • @jpbeaufays
      @jpbeaufays 4 года назад +1

      @@MorGuitarz thanks! It sounds like the JMP is a keeper for me, needing fast and precise lows.
